    Very nicely done. You certainly have the fine art of teaching your craft mastered. It was a joy to watch and listen to your instruction as the “ little man” came to life. You and Doug Linker have got “it” when when you present your skills through the tutorials. Please keep them coming because they are greatly appreciated and valued.
    Best,
    Chuck Leaf, newbie wood guy.

These type of carvings are one of my favorites and one that many new carvers really love as they can easily do them plus learn new techniques! Thanks for such a wonderful series and ALL the effort and work you did to create this great series! Safe carving ALWAYS to you and yours!

    Sharon, many thanks for providing a fascinating introduction into this craft. I tried my hand at woodcarving about 40 years ago but without the aid of the internet in those days and the lack of courses I didn't get very far. I am retired now and this has given me the urge to try my hand again with the advantage that this time I have a good instructor. I look forward to more videos and would appreciate it if you could let me know whether you have DVD's or books for sale (please note that I would need postage details as I live in England UK). Knives have been requested as Christmas presents this year. Thanks again. Kind Regards. Roger

    Hey, love your videos on step by step..... I'm just starting out in this hobby and I'm excited. How do you keep you knife so sharp? I tried one of your lil people with a piece of Tupelo but didn't turn out like I hoped.

      DBK compound, stroppy stuff, and or Bark River CBN emulsion on (Kangaroo) leather strop for me. 1 - 4 micron. Just a couple strops every now and then when you feel your cuts aren’t as clean.

    Thanks! I just finished my first figure and your videos was really helpful, maybe a little weird camera angles from time to time but overall great.
    I got one small problem, and it doesn't got to do with your videos. I didn't buy "fine-grained" balsa wood. So sometimes the wood would chip or I couldn't get that sharp of a corner (and I didn't do the face out fear i would ruin my guy). But it was really fun and a good learning curve to get me started.
    But next time I will try to buy better balsa wood. Are you buying a different type of balsa? If so, what's it called?

    • @seniorchiefharris
      @seniorchiefharris 6 лет назад +2

      I believe you would be much better served purchasing 'basswood' rather than 'balsa' wood... Basswood is much finer grain and more dense wood than balsa thus allowing finer detail in carving... Leave balsa wood to the model airplane hobby and enjoy the more benefits of basswood! I'm sure you will be much more satisfied and pleased with the results!
