Today the Hero Rat died. Rest in peace. Thank you for your service. Salute!
thank you hero rat
Be kind, spay, neuter, foster, adopt not shop!
I sponsor Magawa for Apopo. What a wonderful organisation. I will send him extra banana money for winning the award. He truly is a hero.
I sponsor Magawa as well. I think he is a little Bodhisattva. He is truly a hero!
I sponsored him too while at APOPO in Cambodia this year. You go Boy!!
Rest in peace Magawa, so sad to hear you passed away, you will be remembered!
Especially appropriate for Year of the Rat.
Yes. 2020 - The Year of Magawa
Little hero and so cute with it . ❤️
My feelings about rats may be evolving.
Magawa and his trainer make a fantastic pair! This is such a heartwarming story of care and dedication, thank you
It's been a tough year...But 2020 is still the Year of the Rat.
Magawa has passed away, makes me sad to hear. We need more heros like this, besides clearing mines he shows humans how animals are also worth appreciation. A rat is not to be despised, even rats can be our friends and heros. Hope Magawas legacy was more than clearning mines but also one of spreading appreciation of nature. Way to go Magawa!
We couldn't have put it better ourselves! ❤️
Thank you to everybody who left some lovely comments to celebrate the incredible achievements of Magawa! You guys are awesome 😊🙌
Thank you for helping us
Thank you for bringing such stories into the public and honouring even the smallest helpers. I can't imagine what it means to live in a place where a false step can instantly kill or cripple you, because of some war that's been over for years. And of course a mine doesn't care WHO stepped on it... There's a reason they are amongst the few weapons that many countries banned...
As for rats: They're brilliant little buggers. I owned pet rats for years (the small ones of course) and they kept surprising me. It amazes me that in a brain as tiny as theirs there's not just space for problem solving abilities that often beat those of dogs or cats, but also for a quite complex social behaviour AND quite individual "personalities". Hooray for giving them a chance to shine! :)
@@commanderkruge i love rodents
@@trevipp Me too. Especially all those like Rats or Squirrels or Otters who have little hands. They look like I imagine our ancestors once did (long before they became apes). If it's furry and has hands I find them adorable. :) And many of them are VERY clever for brains of their size.
That rat is my inspiration
Never been prouder to sponsor you Magawa! And thank you so much to So Malen for handling Magawa! You both are fantastic!!😊🐀
Thanks heroRat for saving our Cambodian lives
Magawa definitely deserves it, and I really hope this brings APOPO more into the public eye. Gonna go buy him a treat for being such a good boy.
Thank you hero rat
THAT’S MY BOYYYYY I LOVE U MAGAWA
Well done magawa, the medal looks good on him
I am in love with Magawa! Thank you for recognizing his service.
God loves all His creatures even more than we can imagine, and thankfully loves us enough to grace us with their presence.
Thank you hero rat!
What a fantastic story and what a beautiful creature. Magawa is the hero the world needs right now, together with all his collegues and trainers. I am in true awe...
How not not to become emotional with Magawa and PDSA efforts with landmines !
Rats are so smart and amazing. They're so undervalued and underrated. I hope more and more people get to love them and stop their stigmatisation.
God bless you Magawa
Awesome!!!
Thank you Magawa for your work! I hope you and your fellow HeroRATS continue to get the recognition and support you deserve! And so that you can help the people of Cambodia and others worldwide in living without fear of landmines. Truly deserving of the PDSA Gold Medal, and very fitting for year of the rat. Also the little medal looks lovely on Magawa's harness! :)
Magawa you’re the best 💥💥💥
I am so proud of my adopted rat Magawa, very well deserved!!
Congratulations to your special rat friend 🙏🐭😇
Thank you for your service Magawa.
Congratulations Magawa, you have shown the important relationship with Humans and all other animals.
Magawa wearing his little medal on his harness is one of the cutest things i've ever seen. What a beautiful animal and friend! I'm so glad he was so well looked after because he absolutely deserved it. RIP Magawa my friend.
Updated: Magawa is passed away on 8 Jan 2022 by the age 8y old.
Thank you for your service.
Some good news. Fantastic.
I've just learned about this amazing creature. I've often told people that rats are one of the most targeted victims of human ignorance and cruelty and I hope his noble work and the high risks he runs serve to raise awareness to the value of these intelligent, sensitive creatures who even sing to the their partners!
Thank you so much for the precious work of your organization, I can't donate most unfortunately but I have shared this all over and will be sharing your videos from now on! Much love and respect from Brazil!
This is such a heart warming story. Just read the NYTimes article this morning. Thank you Magawa and Malen for all your heroic work that saves thousands of lives in Cambodia. Congrats Magawa!!!
This filled my heart with so much love! ♥️❤️♥️❤️
I love it how he says it “ a medal to a rat.” He has more medal/achievements then I was in the service. What went wrong?🤣👍🏽
"Our pets give us a reason to get up in the morning, a reason to carry on when things feel hopeless." Jesus, this has been so true for me during the pandemic. I have bipolar disorder, and even when I'm depressed I know that my rabbits need me to take care of them, which is sometimes the only thing I care about. And seeing how cute they are, seeing them happy, and petting them makes me feel better.
All hail Magawa...!!
Amazing!
Well done Magawa! Such an amazing and adorable hero! He should get a superhero cape too for all the lives he has saved and plenty of rat treats too!
G-d bless Magawa and So, his trainer. Your hard work has helped prevent so much needless suffering.
Why did you censor the word god haha
@@MamaSymphonia It's not censored, it's a sign of respect, done in certain Orthodox faiths. I imagine you're quite young.
@@JoJo-ie8sl Never seen that before o.o I imagine you're quite old.
@@MamaSymphonia For someone who looks for commissions online for their business, you are very flippant and rude to others.
@@JoJo-ie8sl Lmao all I did was repeat your own dig back to you :P
Congratulations 🎊 Magawa you're the best
What terrific work from Magawa and APOPO! Thank you!
Love to hear more from Magawa! You are so important little rat and I hope that people can overcome their fear when they see that you do a great job for us! God bless you lovely friend!!💖
Brilliant, and thank you PDSA and Apopo for all your amazing work.
Long live Magawa
So well deserved. RIP Magawa you legend!
RIP Magawa, you are a hero. We all love you
This is so beautiful. Bless all the heroic animals!!
Congrats Magawa and the whole team at Apopo!!! And thankyou PDSA for recognising all these brave beautiful beings and bringing their heroic work and deeds to the attention of the world!🤗
Well done little guy! Mission accomplished.
I hope Magawa is spoiled with lots a treats and toys!
Ive always felt sad when my cats kill rodents, but I feel even worse after this story!
This rodent has saved more lives, and does more for humanity than most humans will ever do in generations!
Instead of feeling sad you should do something about it, or keep your cat inside away from wildlife
Cats hurt birds more than rats tbh they are considered pest for a reason because they boom they fuck like rabbits and breed a shit ton. A cat won't do anything to rat population but they destroy birds horribly they cause massive habitat destruction to birds and small lizards.
I’ve just read in newspaper Magawa has passed away rest in peace little man 🙏
Rest in peace, little Magawa! Thank you for your bravery and outstanding service❣
Thank you Magawa, you are a true hero.
You are deserved Magawa. Blessings from Hong Kong.
RIP Magawa our Hero *Salute
Precious! What a feel-good story! It's nice to see attention to natural wildlife heroes like the rat and pigeons.

Rest in peace brave boy... You are a legend now 🐭
What a good boy
RIP Little Hero
This is adorable
Check out Apopo, This is a truly wonderful organization. If you can adopt one of these amazing life saving animals.
Suuuuuuuuper 😍😍😍😍😍😍👍👍👍 Viele Grüße aus Germany
Rest in heaven Legend 💐❤️
2 wonderful organizations! - PDSA & Apopo
RIP to a legend
What a good boy Magawa is! He deserves his little Gold Medal. Animals are so misunderstood and no animal is more wrongly hated than the poor ratties. They are wonderful animals and have many excellent and unique attributes and so intelligent too!. I would love to have a couple of pouch rat rats for pets.
5:40 - Cambodia.
6:26 - 10:08 - Magawa !!!
Rest in peace beautiful brave Rat 😢🤩🙏🏻🪐💫⭐️
Magawa: staff your medals.....just gimme the bananas..... 🍌
I would love to have one of these lovely rats as a companion. Nope, not a pet, but part of the family. I adore rats, they're amazing animals, highly intelligent, often affectionate, and also great comedians if you pay attention to them and spot their antics, they also form real bonds with you, sometimes even following you around the house like a dog would. I had a rat that used to play silly games with me all the time. She would try to get out of her igloo without me spotting her moving/running and get across the room where I would place a treat. I would look away, and she would poke her head out of the igloo, which was in her habitat (which was the entire room), and if I would turn and look at her, she would freeze until I would look away again. She would do this, until she got out of the the igloo and through an obstacle coarse, across the room, and to the treat. Sometimes she would stop, (if she was running across the "catwalk" I had constructed) with one front paw up in the air....lol. I miss her and all my rat babies. I had a lot of them, at one point (that was 20+ years ago), I had about 250 rats, I was like a female Willard, except my rats were mega sweeties and not trained to do evil...lol. Now, I'm a mum though, and just one rat would be perfect for our family, but it would be really cool to give a forever home to a Giant African Pouched Rat, I mean look how adorable they are! It would be nice to open a place for retired rats that do this work, as they shouldn't have to do it until they die (I'm not assuming they do, I'm merely saying it shouldn't happen if it does.) but should enjoy the last few years of their lives in a rat haven.
Litle hero, i salute you🇳🇴👍❤️🙏
