  • Is the CANAM X3 turbo max just too long to crawl? Is it too long to get out into the tight stuff or into rock crawling situations? I wanna show you some of the rock crawling features that I've done in my 2019 canam X3 turbo R XRS max. I am equipped with 35 inch tall tires, no front sway bar links, Walker Evans rear links, and shock therapy springs. This is giving me somewhere around 18 or 19 inches of total ground clearance.
One of the biggest complaints about this machine is that its length makes it limited in its abilities to get up and over rock obstacles. At this point with the new Polaris RZR PRO R 4, the length is almost identical and there are some complaints about that machine as well. Of course being a good driver and picking your line is going to make the biggest difference, but I would like to show you how my car flexes, how it articulates, and how it easily climbs over shelves and tricky obstacles as good or better than any other car in our group.
In this video you will see a 2021 Kawasaki KRX, a 2015 Polaris RZR 1000 XP four, 2018 RZR Polaris XP 1000, a 2020 Polaris RZR turbo S and of course my 2019 XRS MAX TURBO R.
This is the Moab rim trail, primarily the Z turn, video taken early in 2022, before many of the upgrades that I have done to my car. Feel free to reach out at any time my email address is SXStrailfix@gmail.com.

I agree with you the long wheel base will be an advantage sometimes rarely a hinderance

It’s only a problem when it’s a crazy tight off camber turn, the ass end likes to sky!

It's a big deal to remove your sway bars for rock crawling. The achiles heel in my opinion is the viscous front diff. The car can only get 3 wheel drive without a front locker. I made the mistake of installing a lunchbox locker (autolocker) and it makes it impossible to drive and turn the steering wheel at low speeds or in rocks, even though I have mininmal scrub radius, and a boosted EPS unit. A selectable front locker would be ideal for these rigs in my opinion. Polaris comes with a locked front diff, so no need for them to screw with it. Anyway, great video, thank you for paying attention to some of the important details of driving our side by sides in the rocks.

I have a 64" and want to do more crawling, exploring and overloading but I have fears of getting stranded. I have my eyes on some Shock Therapy goodies

64’s do just fine. Get it up as high as you can and maybe run a bigger offset wheel

I never had issue’s with the length on my old X3 RS Max. The only time the length was an issue for me was turning radius on tight switchbacks. Me personally I really liked the length and the stability it offered. I switched to a Pro R Ultimate several months back so it was an easy transition as far as length is concerned. The four seat cars are much more stable in my experience.

I agree. Do you have the same crawl feel with the Pro R?

@@sxsoffroad My R is still stock with the exception of 35’s. My X3 was pretty much fully built but on 33’s. The R is just a lot more precise if that makes sense. The low end torque is very different to. I have nothing negative to say about my old X3. It had about 4k miles on it when I sold it. Original belt with oem clutching lasted to 2500 miles.

@@Charlie-go6ebthat’s super impressive on the clutch, I snap belts too often and usually I think it’s because of slap back coming in and out of high speed turns.

I thought you have to install limit straps when you take off the front sway bar?

I have them on there now. I ran without them for a couple months.

I was going back over a couple of your videos and noticed that you went fromXCR 350s to the tusk terabytes, I’m currently on the XCR 350 in a 33 and was considering the tusk in a 35. How do you like the tusks so far?

    • @sxsoffroad
      @sxsoffroad  6 месяцев назад +1

So I still have the 350’s and they’ve gotten over 2000 miles now with at least 50% tread. They’re leaking around the beads these days but not that big a deal. The terabytes are stiff. I do like the grip but I think I could air them to like 3lbs. They grab rocks but aren’t as sticky as the 350’s. Last time in sand hollow I felt I was losing too much grip (with the 350’s) if any sand was present on the rocks. I grabbed these terabytes mainly for rock crawling, but they’ve been nice in the desert runs as well

@@sxsoffroad we run a lot of desert, mountain trails. But love Sand Hollow and Moab, we are planning on a trip to Moab at the end of April and was thinking 35s. Thanks for getting back with me.

@@091200xr we had a trip to Moab this fall and that’s one of the reasons I grabbed the terabytes. Killer grip down there, I have a guy here locally that has insane low prices on them, he’s a dealer that is at least 20% cheaper than list, maybe more. Shoot me an email is you want his number sxstrailfix@gmail.com

64" or 72" ...... that is the question. Is there a case for 64" wide in any type terrain or riding style ?

    • @sxsoffroad

Depends. I like the 72 but my buddies is 64” and the big difference is ride height and travel. I think you can go as many places with a 64
