I typically don't leave comments but just wanted to say I quite enjoyed this one 👍
I find a lot of the time I might sketch out a comment, but it requires too much thought. I can't think to good and I decide to press cancel. :[
I never expected VPNs to cover for me. I just wanted encrypted network traffic and I got it.
*Smart people only:* _Multivariate analysis: a business isn't weighing "$5," but the entirety of their revenue & reputation when disclosing user activity._
A business cares more about total profit than $5? no way dude!
@@kiyoponnn ikr, i thought it was obvious too. apparently not.
Great video! I was waiting for someone to talk about this.
More companies and people should use the warrant canaries.
Another awesome video as always!
Glad you enjoyed it ❤️
Thank you! Interesting.
We should make our own country lol
Where encryption is a must
BUT they will for their reputation...
I do like your explanation of this article. This was an interesting video
Thank you.
Thoughts on Spideroak in general (for backup at least) +/- their warrant canary being taken down? If you already covered it in a vid, I'll try to find it.
Waited for long time on new video
[[A little off topic but I’d like to hear your answer]]. I was using Win-11 then moved to Linux and distro hopped for a few months, moved back to Win-11 and installed a few apps from Microsoft Store (I was using a Microsoft account this time) then downgraded to Win-10 and stayed there for a few weeks, then formated the drive and installed Win-11 with a local account a few days ago.
my question is, why does Microsoft Store knows which apps I installed when I was using a Microsoft Account if I just installed Windows with a local account which I’m still using? Microsoft Store has no user account
Please answer 🙏🏼 I’m wondering if I should switch back to Linux. Seems like Microsoft built a unique ID for my PC so it’s the same if I’m using a Microsoft account or not
Scam callers never go to jail in my country. You probably know which country I am from now

Good video.
I guess in the future it will be law to collect info. That will birth new ways of autonomous encryption.
well that was informative
QUESTION
if you own your own domain name and set the MX record to go to simple login does the registrar ie names silo servers get a copy of the email
No
not gonna lie, that cat was very distracting... :)
awesome video as always!
Could a FISA court order require a company to maintain their warrant canary?
I'm not to much into this but I don't believe they can mimic/impersonate someone with a pgp key. That sounds like fraud to me ngl
Legally? Absolutely not.
But the government breaks the law more than anyone else.
I’m pretty sure (not a lawyer) that the jurisdiction of where the VPN is incorporated matters less than the jurisdiction of the location of the server you are connecting to. Say the VPN is incorporated in a zero eyes country. If you are connecting to a server in the United States, the US will be able to access info via its own laws. It can subpoena the ISP which the servers are connected to, subpoena subcontractors who work on the servers, subpoena landlords, get a warrant to access and gain full access to servers, etc.
What about the "no log policy"?
That all goes under the privacy policy aspect of researching providers
Meh. Worthless. PureVPN had one - they lied - hung a user out to dry. IPVanish had one - they lied - and hung a user out to dry.
@@techlore It's kind of a "trust me bro" (most of the industry)....
...unless their No-Logs have been proven, through independent audits (some of the industry), or via a Court Order (select few/ ie Signal).
Is there a clause in the RUclipsr contract that specifies you must own a cat? 😄 No matter how much you may hate cat videos, you'll have to put that phobia aside if you watch tech RUclipsrs. I love cats, BTW.
Nor will your ISP.
Windscribe seems good and all, but How is Canada for country? As you did mention for privacy.
I use Windscribe too cuz it’s free
There are no mandatory data retention directives that apply to VPNs in any of the 5 eyes countries (including Canada). If you don’t store any data, you cannot be compelled to hand over what you don’t have.
Bruh I just use proton vpn connected to u.s just to watch their crunchyroll library . I don't know why all countries don't have the same library as america
The rights of shows for streaming are sold both for A set time and in A set country along with limits on who else can lease the show during that time.
So when crunchyroll buys A show, they are paying extra for each day its available and each place as well. This means they spend A lot on researching what shows people will want to watch in advance because its generally easier and cheaper to lease A show far ahead of when it will be shown.
An extent of this approach the streaming services have taken, is paying up front for production in exchange for more permanent rights to keep showing into the future.
Crunchyroll regularly funds the official subs and even sometimes dubs to anime in exchange for rights to show them permanently.
But the short answer, Copyrights suck.
Sounds like promotion for windscribe.

I really thought he would't be using an iPhone.
I use both GrapheneOS and iPhone. Both do and store different things for different purposes.
@@davtra Me, I tend to think that the paranoid man has a horrible life.
@@Olando89 He does use Windows to edit videos because it's convenient. I use multiple OS for computing and it's 2nd nature for me. It's good to have privacy knowledge (and know when to use for certain situations) but it doesn't necessarily equate to horrible life.
Stop promoting the poor Surfshark. They have just handed over a user’s true IP to the taiwanese police. Totally blacklisted now!!!

there is a really simple solution to all of this, just don't be a pedophile.
... a pedophile, a journalist, an activist, a pirate, a junkie, an anon forum dweller, yeah. just express your love to uncle sam and pay taxes. and never say or do something someone could ever consider controversial
@@user-mx6hu9yv6l glad you understand. why is it so hard for some people to be decent human beings to others?
Why mention pedo when this is clearly about being safe from corrupted govt
@@SerPapus this is clearly about being safe from just government, not exactly corrupted. And the people that want to be safe from government are not always benign in nature, hence the pedo mention.

TLDR: Best privacy practice is to not put too much trust in your phone in general (compared to desktops hardware is locked down, privacy respecting options at the low level dont exist) and when you follow this practice effectively then using an iphone for daily, nonsensitive tasks is acceptable, not ideal but acceptable
"privacy phones" in general are kindof a myth, even a pixel running grapheneOS is inherently a bad idea from a privacy perspective (when compared to desktops) as you are putting full trust into the fact that google haven't backdoored the device at the bootloader level for example.
that's not to say using a de-googled phone is bad for your privacy compared to the alternatives of course (its one hell of an improvement over other phones like a pixel with stock rom, samsung or iphone) but what I am saying is that its a better idea to minimize the private and sensitive data you keep on your phone, and then go with a phone that suits your daily life best, rather than using a phone for the sake of it being as private as possible and then solely relying on it to store all of important information when in all honesty its still rather insecure and spooky compared to desktop/laptop offerings
I myself did go the de-googled pixel route and have been happy, but I can totally understand why someone would choose not to go for a phone like mine
now, x86 has many of the same issues with things like the ime or amd psp, but there, projects and options exist to mitigate this including modern ones like the msi z690a running dasharo/coreboot, or slightly older offerings like the thinkpad W540 or asus kgpe-d16 flashed with libreboot
there are also chromebooks that can be flashed with libreboot which alleviates any concern with spooky things happening at the bios level so this could also be a good option
We are on the RUclips by Google.

Your VPN won't go to jail for you, period. No matter what you pay.
Sometimes they can't. For example, if Turkey files a lawsuit against a company abroad, this lawsuit pretty much never come to a conclusion.
So Turkey citizens pretty much free from jail if they use a vpn from other countries and that's basically great (I am a Turkish person, thats why I'm knowing this)
