  • Today we review what is, in our opinion, the best level 2 EVSE. 1st we do a thorough unboxing, then we do a step by step install, followed by a deep dive into the smart features included in the Wallbox App. This unit can plug into a NEMA 14-50 outlet as well as be hardwired.

    Are you supposed to use a 40A or 50A breaker on this wallbox. Looking at the wallbox site it seems to say 50A Thanks . Great vid by the way

    We just got this charger for my dads brand new 2023 Kia Niro EV. Our electrician will be here in a couple of days to install it. But it’s a 48 amp hardwire model.

    Please keep us posted on how the wallbox works for long term especially during the winter months where you guys live. It failed State of Charge video the deep freeze test for the cable. I want to get a wallbox. I'm down south it gets down to 32⁰ to 23⁰ where I live so I'm hoping that the cable is pliable to movement in the wintertime for usage in the mornings. If you can let's us know in your next videos how its working for you guys that would be great! Thanks for the continued great content.

    Hello, checking to see how this charger has been treating you. Have you used it off wifi and can you control the amperage through the app while just on wifi?

    • @EVMotoring

      @@EVMotoring thank you, I won't have a wifi signal to it so I worry that it won't charge when it needs an update. I was also hoping to only connect via Bluetooth and lower the amperage during the day then increase it while in bed

    Im in the process of buying a electric car now, and i have no knowledge what-so-ever with electricity. Im getting the Mini SE which i believe can accept 40 amps? If i get this charger and plug it into my 240 outlet do i need to change the ampage or is it pretty much plug and play? I dont want to ruin the car, any advice to help me understand better would be appreciated. Also my garage is most likely out of range of my wifi, i could get an google point to extend the range, but would the app still work if there was no wifi, or does it need to be on the same network?

    • @EVMotoring
      @EVMotoring  2 года назад

      I use a mesh router system to extend the coverage to the garage/yard. As long as you have a 50 amp breaker, 40 amps of charging is fine. The charger should always be set to 80% or less of what the breaker is.

    Looks nice and small but I’m worried about the plastic mounting plate and the rest of the box attached to this plate with two tiny screws. The cables can be very heavy and over time, the plastic plate may deteriorate and crack etc

    why set the dial for max amp if the app will do it? Also is there a way to set car profile and tell it to just charge to 90% or do you have to do that in the car itself?

    • @EVMotoring
      @EVMotoring  2 года назад +1

      The charge limit must be set on the car itself. I set the dial for the max that my circuit can handle so I accidentally don’t request too much power.

    Does your breaker board have the capacity to replace the 40A breaker with a 50A breaker? If so, you can swap the breaker and set the charger to 40A and, if need be, charge significantly faster.
