It's been months or years that isn't doom bots. The minigame was playing against Janna casting five tornados that spins and some other abilities from other champions, like Morgana Q or multiple Lux Q
Other players did it in other mobas (fe Invoker in Dota2), so why not in league? It is interesting to combine sharp technical skills and high stake decision making as to challenge players, regardless of their mastery of the game.
It does look like it would function like nunu ult, but maybe suppression instead of a slow? Vel'koz don't really have mobility so giving him an AoE suppression shouldn't be that bad.
If Riot created a gamemode that would let you edit champion abylities, and someone did this... we would have the literal definition of Boss added to the game. You would him 2 games and he would already found some exploits. Can't wait for Azzapp reacting to this.
455k points on Vel, mastery level 52, and I would love to play with a toolkit like this. I don't even know if it would be better, there's so much room for error with a lot of these. The most useful stuff consistently would just be terrain interactions (that would in fact be a huge power improvement). But it's all just so fucking cool.
@@MakashiOwns I mean it would absolutely be better. Given some time to learn the new combinations this would be one of the most broken characters in the game. His enhanced ult does 50% max hp true damage for gods sake
Dude I was just expecting extra projectiles and bigger AoE... Very good work on this! I love how creative and cool this abilities are. Obviously not balanced but very interesting.
OMG! I am so proud of you! Look at how much you've grown! I am extremely impressed by your creativity and your power to make animations. Keep these good stuff coming!
My thoughts as an avid Vel'Koz fan on how useful the upgraded abilities would be in real play: QW Realm Rift: While the expanded size is useful, the randomness of the rift is a liability: you could shoot at a target right in front of you and potentially outright miss. Suggestion: make it like a chain lightning ability where the rift shoots between enemies in the target area, prioritising champions; the lack of CC on the ability means you'd have to combo with it to make it useful, as is the case for unupgraded W. Or, you know, build Rylai's. QE Unstable Energy: Strong as a control tool. Vel'Koz has two main priorities: comboing enemies and controlling space to maintain range. Being able to cast his E with extended range is excellent as a control tool, although it does potentially risk making it less useful as a combo tool, i.e. you end up knocking all the enemies out of your combo pieces. Suggestion: make it effectively an Orianna ult. Combo/AoE mages LOVE grouping enemies in one spot. WQ Plasma Rift: Would be useful for spreading your passive over a much larger area, perhaps as a setup for reaching max stacks with your ult. Good for teamfights, especially in river or jungle. Again, the randomness is potentially annoying. Combined with Rylai's would make an excellent control tool, but why would you need that when you could get... WE Void Splash: The stronger W option if you don't care as much about AoE: W+E is one of your standard combos, so if you hit it the enemy will be knocked up twice in quick succession, giving you all the time in the world to combo them further or run away. EW Void Breakthrough: VERY powerful (and also looks very cool). Any effect that keeps enemies locked down in an area for a few seconds is extremely desirable for a control mage. The fact that it lasts gives it an additional application as a zoning or trap type ability, meaning you can put it down in chokepoints to cover your retreat or dissuade enemy aggression (very good in objective fights). Weak to blinks and dashes, so as a suggestion if you want to REALLY tune this up: trade out the push-apart for a Grounded effect. EW Cascade Disruption (I think this was meant to be EQ?): Possibly the weakest upgrade option. Added AoE range is nice, but doing it *sideways* is unlikely to be as useful as a straight line, which can be used to catch backline targets. Could potentially be used to catch unwary enemies by geometrying right-angles, but given how slow the extra explosions are would likely only ever work once. One important point to note: if the upgraded version of the E (lifting terrain) could be used in combo with this to create what is effectively an Anivia wall that you can trap people on, then this would be a lot stronger (and, like Anivia wall, has excellent griefing potential). RQ Null Charge: A conal AoE combined with the other Experimentation options would be absolutely BONKERS - but it comes out very, very slowly. It would have to have silly damage numbers to justify what is essentially a much slower Miss Fortune ult. RW Rift Corruption: Again, has ridiculous combo potential with the rest of the kit, but just seems WAY too slow to be useful in most cases. If it came out at the speed of Viktor laser along the whole length or even Rumble ult it would be much more useful. RE Incomprehensible Knowledge: The coolest looking ability by far and also very in-keeping with his lore, so props for the flavour. A good option if you want what is essentially an in-built Zhonya's. However, you are then sacrificing your big beam, so likely reducing your damage output - which I like BTW, this makes the choice of offence or defence very meaningful. Very interesting and flavourful defensive ult. The only suggestion I can give is maybe lowering the damage slightly (because this isn't meant to be a damaging ability anyway) and instead putting in a Taunt or Charm-like effect, the flavour being that enemies see the eldritch knowledge and then can't look away, like the Infinite Mindsplitter from Legends of Runeterra. Nice visual effects, although I don't think Riot would like the loss of clarity in their game. :P
Perhaps in the next video, you can make the in-game sound even louder, so that in combination with your thick accent, it is completely impossible to hear/understand what you're saying
Wow, this is my main champion here and I love the ideas!!! I actually though some of these myself, but combos are killers, wish they were in actual game
love the concept of temporarily destroying terrain, that'd make of some really unique gameplay. the E is cool too, though the raised terrain would cause visual issues for units behind it and cause issues with clarity on the map. I however LOVE the passive how he can scan dead champions for knowledge. Seeing all ward locations would be too strong, but giving like 1-2 seconds of vision on enemy champions would be cool. Or getting to see vision of anywhere that absorbed champion was in the past 30-60 seconds and any wards they placed might be an interesting variant on your idea
I think a passive like Rengar's, which gains effects on unique kills, is more suited to Vel'Koz's lore. Give him a "Research", "Experiment" and "Thesis" mechanic. *Research:* Every first kill of a unique enemy will gain 5% damage against that enemy including: Minions (Melee, Caster, Cannon), Wolves, Frog, Blue, Red, Golems, Raptors, Crab, Baron, Dragon, Larvae, Herald and the five enemy champions. *Experiment:* Killing (Or using "Observation") a specific set of enemies grants a special bonus: Lane minions (After killing 5 cannons): Doubles the "Research" bonus on minions. Frog, Wolves, and Blue = Mana regeneration. Raptors, Golems, and Red = Abilities apply a true damage DoT. Larvae and Herald = Additional damage against structures. Crabs = Movement speed while in the jungle. Baron and Dragon = 5% damage mitigation Enemy champions = Increases AP by 10% *Thesis:* Upon completing their tasks, "Research" damage and "Experiment" bonuses are doubled; "Experimentation" from Larvae and Herald does not count towards "Thesis". *Plasma Fission:* Hitting enemies mark them with "Observation" for 7 seconds, if an enemy under "Observation" dies it will count towards Vel'koz's tasks. Upon completion of his "Thesis", the projectiles will pass through the targets. *Void Rift:* Rifts destroy terrain generated by champs, when the rifts explode enemies are pulled to the center. Completing the "Thesis" makes the rifts 50% longer. *Tectonic Disruption:* After the explosion, the ground becomes unstable for 3 seconds, slowing enemies who pass over it by 20%. Upon completing the "Thesis" the radius of the skill increases by 25% and the unstable ground damages enemies. *Life Form Disintegration Ray:* While channeling Vel'koz reduces all damage taken by 10%, enemies hit are marked with "Observation". Upon completing "Thesis" the ray executes enemies below 10% health.
honestly the fact that you can have 16 abilities (4 base abilities and 12 combos) with a twisted fate ultimate as a passive on a single champion just makes him a modern league champion (aphelios has technically 12 abilities) tho I have to admit that the "mathing don't distrurb" emote having a purpose is actually kinda unique.
I audibly exclaimed, "ExCUSE me!?" after we got to the part about 'experimentation'- like Bruh XD Love playing Velkoz, but MAN does this feel absolutely terrifying to even think about in an actual game if the experimentation part alone were to become a part of the game
I think it would be pretty awesome if a mini-game mechanic were implemented, where you'd need to use your basic attacks to "collect" fragments dropped by the target. Passive: Abduction Passively charges Vel'Koz's tentacles. When fully charged, Vel'Koz can pick up fragments from range without needing to step on them. Additionally, when hitting enemies with a charged basic attack, Vel'Koz marks them with "Buoy." Q - Analytical Beam An ability that locks Vel'Koz onto a target, revealing it for the duration of the spell. If you analyze the target for long enough, a fragment drops. Picking up the fragment grants Vel'Koz 1 stack of "Understanding." Ultimate: Focused Disintegration Ray Vel'Koz consumes all "Understanding" and launch his Life-Form Desintegrating Ray, all targets marked with "buoy" has it's magic defenses mitigate proportionally to the number of stacks consumed. Adittionally, I think it would be an AWESOME plot if Vel'koz mission was to study the lifeforms in Runeterra in order to create more addapted voidspawns. it would explain why he's the most "alien one". "I could interrogate you about your physiology, but that would be as pointless as asking a fish about the principles of hydrodynamics. Let me dissect you instead"
I like this concept, but I think it could be paired down a lot lol. Unless what you were going for was a "knowledge" based playstyle that would have a very high skill cap. I must admit that kind of playstyle would be kind of fitting. I particularly like the terrain altering and think that would be sick. Especially if the effects made the edges looks twisted and void-y
ngl, a champion with the passive devour of knowledge could be a neat champion passive idea, just make it last for only a few seconds and have the CD to activate it be every 2 minutes or so
I wonder how a Vel'koz raid in the mmo would go. I'm assuming the objective wouldn't be to kill him, but to go collect some void crystals or something, and the raid team would have to fend off his attacks while doing the raid. Vel'koz should probably get a summon ability too, even if it's just voidlings.
my only gripe with all of this is: each ability may aswell be an ult, given how much possibilities and strength it gives Vel'Koz. other than that, i do like the thematic changes. if it weren't unbalanced af, this would be a great rework i do think the "opening up walls" part, to give him some mobility (or rather escape possiblities) is a great change that could actually be implemented. Considering we have Kayn, to whom walls are a mere suggestion. i dont think it'd be overkill
having moved from League to DOTA2 earlier in the year, i think half of your new ideas would fit in better in DOTA than in league's character designs. i think my favourite of your ideas are the consuming corpses to gain knowledge,(i would mix this and the kill for tiny infinitely stacking damage) and his W giving him a lingering safer zone or path through walls... would not save him but it would buy time. if Velkoz's E when he was on top of him acted like a trap as long as he didn't move he would be so much more enjoyable of a character to play.
