Just a thought...when testing rifle cartridges, wouldn't it be more representative of real world performance to put the gel blocks out at rifle distances? I think more people would be shooting rifles at 50 yards or more rather than at 30 feet. Those bullets are too explosive at such a short range. They would perform much better at real world distances.
I swap my 9mm Lee seating die stem out with the 50 BW. It looks like a round hollow cylinder, about 1" long. Clears the polymer tip. I was getting inconsistent COL's, that caused PSI fluctuations
@@user-nc8qj2no3k. 👍🏻 I’ve done that with a few other calibers/dies. Whatever works in a pinch. 😉
I saw another clip on YT of these 300gr FTX rounds devastating a like-like jell head. The round yeated the sim-brain 20-30 feet away from the impact point. Unbelievable skull destruction, with bone fragments went flying everywhere. I was like "Holy S**T!"
@@MrGmanDan 😂👍🏻👊🏻
Well sir thanks to you I finally ordered myself an 18" Aero complete upper from Gunbroker in 50 Beowulf
@@timjohnson8390 check these out while they last. This is what I was running in this test. 😉

@kentuckyrangetime Good deal thanks
The damage path looks very impressive + good penetration.
@@frankbrowning328 yea, and these being Factory 2nds at $.54 each they’re hard to beat for cost and overall performance. They’re normally $1.02 per bullet.
@@kentuckyrangetime They look to perform very well especially at that price
@ 👍🏻
I use the same dies and I smashed the plastic tips just like you did. Doesn’t seem to affect accuracy though.
@@robertburgard8588 👍🏻
If you drill your seating stem out some, it will move the contact point further down the ogive.
@@InWithBothFeet 👍🏻. That’s a good idea! Hadn’t considered that. Pretty sure it’s aluminum too so it’d be easy to do. 👊🏻
@@kentuckyrangetime I drilled my 30cal stem out to 7/32" and then stuck a couple strips of adhesive sandpaper onto the bullet of a loaded round. With the stem in my drill, stuck the loaded round into the spinning stem to sand the interior to match the ogive of the bullet. Of course make a dummy load. Don't do what I did and use a live round. LOL
@ 👍🏻 looks like I have a project for the weekend 😉
I would still stick with the XTP for hunting.
I remembered right the 350xtp was the best overall for the 50 Beowulf
@@orangetlr so far, 😉. Wait till you see the 500gr FP-XTP that’s going live in the morning
Did you have to shorten the 50 Beowulf case down any like you have to with 45-70 when loading the FTX bullet ?
And you can send Lee a bullet and they can cut you a custom seating stem for very little money , I’ve don’t it several times with other cartridges
@@user-ti7uj4dq5n I did not have to trim the case. .50beowulf has a generous .6” if room from the Max case length to the max OAL. This FTX is pretty much right on .6” from the top of the cannelure.
I didn’t know Lee would do the custom bullet stems! I appreciate that info. 😉👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks for the info and I’ll be ordering me some 300 FTX in the near future
@ these were factory seconds from Midway USA and the were nearly 1/2 price from what they normally charge for the Hornady boxed bullets, if they’re still in stock. 😉
Yeah I checked last night the factory seconds are all gone lol. I’ve used them before several times for my 7.62x39 .310 123 Varmageddons they were less than 1/2 price as the normal Nosler ones. I found no difference in all the measurements with them and they shoot exactly the same. Found some 185 .338 fusion last year or so for my 338 federal and 338 win mag , awesome bullet and extremely accurate, love the factory seconds . Thanks again for the awesome videos 👍🏻
@ I’ve ran them in several calibers too and always had good luck with them. 😉
Good performance but I'd give the win to the 350 XTP.
@@rangetime6779 definitely. This does great but is too light to get the deeper penetration the XTP gets.
What was your Charge weight H110 on this load ?
@@Hubbahubba480 I don’t remember right off hand but it’s listed on the spreadsheet at the end of the video. 😉
@@kentuckyrangetime The charge was cut off the chart , could not see it. I'm Thinking about Barnes XPB 275 grain with Lil Gun 38 Grains
@ 🤷🏼♂️. Just looked it’s actually a way over from the left hand margin. Your screen may be zoomed. Lol
44.5gr of H-110. 😉
@ do you think that would work with the 275 275 gr. Barnes
