    Wish I'd seen this video much earlier in my attempts to install my new dishwasher. Makes it all seem simple to cut down the pipes to get everything to fit.

    Sir this is an excellent teaching video - thank you - I just have one question: why not connect the dishwasher drain hose to the sink drain on the right since that's the main drain sink? Thank you.

      Hi, I liked extending the hose rather than creating a tight loop.

    Shouldn't the dishwasher drain hose be above the sink drain baskets at some point to prevent water siphoning back into the dishwasher?

    • @FIXITHomeImprovementChannel
      @FIXITHomeImprovementChannel  2 года назад +1

      Hi, some manufacturers have a built in high loop on the side of the dishwasher and don't require a loop inside the cabinet. Check the manual for your model.

      @@FIXITHomeImprovementChannel I’m glad a read this. I have mine that drains into the sink but for some odd reason it’s spilling onto the counter tops and flooding everything. (We just moved into a newly renovated house) new appliances haven’t been tested yet. I’m going to check and see if I can make it drain below the sink. Might even use the opening in the sink for a reverse osmosis system if possible.

      I just listening to a video that said he called 8 different dishwasher companies and asked them if you could substitute the loop that you put under the sink for the loop they put on the side of the dishwasher..5 companies got back with him and said DO NOT SUBSTITUTE on any of their washers..always put a loop under the sink..the loop on the side of the dishwasher is not a substitute

    • @deandalley3607
      @deandalley3607 Год назад +2

      @@FIXITHomeImprovementChannel That is incorrect. That loop attached to the washer does not substitute for the required high loop.

    My dishwasher drainage hows has a black rubber fitting on it that won't come off. The problem is it has a 1" opening that fit the garbage disposal I removed, but the new pvc pipe has a 5/8" branch for the dishwasher hose, so it doesn't fit. Am I supposed to cut the black rubber piece off and buy one that fits both ends?

    • @FIXITHomeImprovementChannel

      Hi, go to a hardware store or home center and have them help you with a dishwasher rubber coupling and a barb fitting to make the connection.

      @@FIXITHomeImprovementChannel It's very kind of you to reply, but I figured out the branch comes in 7/8" and that's what I should have bought instead of a 5/8". The garbage disposal I removed was 7/8" where the dishwasher hose previously went into, so I know it will fit. Going to Home Depot tomorrow to exchange the 5/8 for a 7/8.

      Hi, with plastic drain pipe, you need to make sure the nut is tightened securely. If it still moves, I would clean the pipe and replace the washers.

      Hi, is the end of the hose damaged from the clamp? Do you have enough excess to cut off a small amount of hose for a tighter connection?

    I’m having a hard time with that waste arm, where it connects to the P-trap. Because it needs to be angled from my garbage disposal. I can’t get a good seal where it connects to the P-trap.

    I just found out a dishwasher drain hose was supposed to have a high loop (doesn't look like yours does) so if the sink backs up, the water won't drain into the dishwasher. That just happened to me, what a mess.

    • @FIXITHomeImprovementChannel
      @FIXITHomeImprovementChannel  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi, yes you should have a high loop. This dishwasher has a built in high loop. When I spoke to their technical department, they said you don't have to add an additional high loop, but you can depending on the installation.
