Your commentary is second to none Curls, the way you describe and relate to a place is heart-warming. This is quite quickly becoming my favourite RUclips channel. What a gem mate.
We moved to NZ from the Netherlands when I was a young kid. Lived in Porirua East for four years. Most welcoming place we lived in. Great memories, thanks for the video!
Glad to see you made it out to the Creek! I work at the petrol station you went past and I'm a bit disappointed I wasn't on shift and didn't get to see you 😂 Despite the bad reputation it gets most of the people I've met in Cannons Creek are very friendly and laid back. I appreciate you coming to these sorts of places and showing people the sides of them a lot of people in NZ don't see. Love your vids bro keep it up!
Thank you for the great tour. I lived in NZ for a few years a number of years ago and the people are so lovely and its such a stunningly beautiful place . Your tours are wonderful to watch .😊
Damn man. Lived in Wellington all my life and never thought to hang out in Eastern Porirua just for the experience. Thanks for doing this, changing minds all over the place
Samoa food was popular back in the days from the markets, and the shops, thank you for been honest of how you experience our home and now maybe NZ has that chance what you share and how you respect our country. the way you show how much you enjoy seen different towns and the food you love to try will help our people to start thinking bout making business and using those empty shops for something. love you vibes and can't wait to see your next video bro,, Kia Kaha ans thank you,👊👊
I grew up in Waitangirua in 70's and 80's, almost everyone else who didn't live there would run it down, and the people from there as well, I've been in the waikato and haven't been back for nearly 40 years. thank you for showing it off...Plan to go back for a re-visit this summer... The Marae is called Maraeroa and it wasn't that developed back in the day, we used to go there for Kapahaka practices from Corinna Primary school and was filmed there in 70's...all the streets around there are named after ships, That row of shops is the old Waitangirua mall and Charles and Diana came to visit there in 81 and we went from school to the mall to see them, I think they opened the Police college as well, Parts of the movie Eagle vs Shark directed by Taika Waititi was filmed around there too, I recognized it straight away when i saw the movie, I love my hometown despite what others who have never lived there say about it...thank you so much for this video...it made me homesick...
Hey, nice to see you wandering around giving you commentary. Nz is awesome. I know I'm a Kiwi. Would be awesome if you chatted to a few of the locals. So that non new Zealanders get a feel for the people. 😊
Wholy bat balls Curls you could have jumped on the bus and not walked 500 miles 🤣. The waitangirua shops used to be a bustling shopping mall that had a New World and other shops but when Pak n Save opened the Mall died . . You will have to come visit Whitby which is the next suburb over totally different . I'll even make you a cuppa if you're a good chap . Oh and I wouldn't make you walk to Whitby I'd pick you up from Paremata train Station
I cant believe you read the comments in your last time videoing porirua how they dared you to go to cannon creek. I was there about 3 months ago, but i accidently went through that area. Lucky for me nothing bad happened. You really need to go and do the West Coast of the South Island. Im almost done, just got kaikoura to go to. That is unreal. I cant describe the shear magnificence of its majestic beauty. I cant believe my country looks like that. I almost done a complete circuit of the whole of the South Island....next year, im going to do it all over again.
It's not that bad. the chances of things happening is more less likely than likely. At anytime of day or night. I would say you'd have the same chance of being attacked or something bad happening in Wellington CBD as you do in Porirua, actually I have heard more bad press about Wellington CBD than Porirua.
Come to plimmerton, the Māori pa here is awesome. It's right on the coast and surrounded by fairly undeveloped land still. I went to school here and know some of the families that live there
You bastard, you made me so hungry, n so jealous cuz I can't eat like that anymore - only one of those a week now.😩-is that face whingy enough? 😜 Thanks for letting me live vicariously (OMFG I spelled it right!) through your stomach, glad I found this.
Further up the road from the supermarket is a school and the pools. My daughter in law has taught at the pools for years. It is a great place to swim. Apparently some of NZ,s best swimmers trained there
They're the best parts of Porirua. And i live in the beach side town of plimmerton. I go to waitangirua mall for my fish and chips and for the cheaper dairys
I'm rough as guts, & I've been there a couple of times. No one cares. If Curls is teaching us anything it's that we are too busy judging each other. The hate you give, is what you get
I lived in cannons creek years ago just at the bottom of the hill which sucked going to the shops😂. I walked to the little town everyday. Its not that bad
It's funny, I have lived in Wellington for 12 years, and went out this way for the first time ever on Saturday (I think the day after you)? One day our paths will cross!
Only certain people can't go to certain places for certain reasons but night times are both good and bad depending on the night and people's thoughts at the time
My advice, Just be very careful and don’t travel alone, sadly as a white man you can be targeted and judged by non white people, especially in some parts of Auckland. I had a guy try punch me just cause I was walking by, had to run to major bus stop and had a person help me. Also had a pair of young guys saying they didn’t want me in “their” pub. Was a pub at bottom of Farmers store in Auckland. Never have this anywhere I travelled around many countries overseas but in NZ. And no, I wasn’t looking for a fight, but they sure were.
And what we have confirmed is that Curls works for a government department or some sort of NGO that benefits from state largesse and paints a nice picture of areas that the inhabitants of those areas do not experience. And then he retreats to the comfy state-funded enclave he inhabits as if the entire world was as he experiences it.

As you say people have said not to go to certain places. And you do and have found people friendly. That's cool.
Bro... I reckon you're the first person to walk to Samoa's finest. 😅
LMAO!!
I can't believe places aren't inviting him for a feed! They're making him walk AND pay???

i like how he has the accented "hey BRO" sorted
Marae is the whole grounds that holds a Wharenui which most people call a Marae, A Wharekai and a Wharepaku
That "Samoa's Finest" is legit a couple hundred meters from the home base of the Porirua chapter of the Mongrel Mob 👀
Go to mt maunganui. One of the nicer/nicest places in nz. All ull get is snobbed. Looked at weird. Bumped into and have to pay $17 for 1 doughnut

You should go to the market at waitangirua early Saturday mornings, get kebabs then dip your pangikeke in the sauce. Ultimate combo
"I can hear a dog barking'.
Yes. Yes you can.
Cannons creek and Waitangirua?. Why does EVERY shop have a roller door? Not lovely places. Maybe go back after 9pm.
