It was all going so nice and formally until 14:24 when 'Lee in the Afternoon' lowered the tone with his JS impression and the bad dancing. Oh dear..... If honest - thanks for the great time capsule of BBC Local Radio from an era when I was involved back at my local station - I remember the Amstrad PCW Computers too with their weird size floppy disks and bad printers!
This is 1983, 258 was the wavelength in metres which the BBC used till around 1984/5 then it was 1161 AM, the outside broadcast vehicle would also date this around 83, as well as the general presentation and feel of the time.
Always wanted to find out what that synthy sounding sig tune to the "258 Alternative" (with Angela Davies) (05:18 in) was. Anyone know? Denise Phillips used to present this also from time to time. What happened to Angela Davies?
Not so much a bygone age, as a completely different planet! Particularly liked it when the story about a Hastings hotel opening, was described as 'boring' 🤣
It’s nice to see David Legge in this. He’s now on Regency Radio in Brighton & Hove.

1988 had a Tuesday 26th April in it.

People dressed up even to go on the radio back then. Somewhere along the line, standards dropped both in what people wore and with programming.
.....so that's what happened when I left eh? Big Band?
I knew Radio Sussex was naff, but just how naff? Well we can see here for ourselves.
