It's been years since I watched your channel. I feel so nostalgic and kinda sad but happy ya know. I need to start buying trains and train sets again but my boyfriend and I are trying to stop spending so much. I'll just keep it secret lol ;)
I love how Graham Farish, Atlas, and Kato make all their sets DCC ready or DCC friendly (which is DCC ready with a board replacement). It gives a great upgrade path to DCC.
Nice video, thanks. I'm an N Gauge enthusiast and have owned both British and Swiss outline models. The quality these days is really good and the detail brilliant.
Love model trains I had many when I was a kid. Excellent video.
Nice to see some N gauge stuff.
I got my desktop layout because of your videos. Now i have Thomas and Percy running on it.
Nice review. I also bought this set when it first came out. Interestingly 47522 had 'Parcels' branding at first, but it wasn't long before it was transferred to Stratford for non-Parcels duties, at which time the 'Parcels' branding was removed and the Stratford cockney sparrow was added. This is the period the model depicts. It is also one of the very small number of 47s that had the flush front (no headcode box) at both ends after 2 separate accidents. After yet another accident it got a donor cab front (with the headcode box!) from another loco, at which time it was repainted into the red/grey Parcels livery.
I bought this set for £150 at Tings last year! Great stuff!!! 😍
Nice little set!I have some continental N gauge going back to the seventies, and some recent newer editions, and the quality is great on them all (Arnold/minitrix/Fleischmann and Bachmann).Love N gauge. The size is just right!
Great review mate, I'm eventually going to re-start my n-gauge project once the OO gauge layout is fully operational
It’s great to see more N Gauge!
Thank you SO much for a brilliant review !! I’ve ordered it !!
I just got the Peco ST-300 starter track set and have the ST-301 ordered. The Night Mail Set looks great! I definitely want one but am having issues finding one on eBay and the Bachmann UK site. Will have to try and find one in a shop there in the UK when I go back over soon to do some Christmas shopping.
Great review, such a lovely set hope to see you back soon 👍
Looks like an amazing set!
If I had a son, that’s exactly the type of trainset I would get him for Christmas or so...
Such a good set!
These kits are very much made as gift sets/novelty items now.
My grandad had an N gauge layout and we used to go to the shops and there were isles and isles of cheap N gauge stuff. I remember getting a complete 'starter set' that included a locomotive, several cars, lots of track, points and even buildings and little people! Now you just get two cars and an oval barely big enough for the loco to fit.
Graham Farish wasn't positioned as a high end brand until it was bought out by Bachmann and production was moved to china.
The quality is a lot better now but Dapol is better value for money.
I remember life like used to sell an N gauge set Called the Little Joe that came with an oval of track Porter 0-6-0 steam loco. Boxcar, High Cube Boxcar, cabooose, telephone poles, trees, 2 building kits, figures. Power pack/transformer.
Kiyoshi Kirishima I’m planning on making a layout and for trains and locos I’m planning on only using Dapol but might use graham for rolling stock
A great looking train set! I'd have loved to have something like this when I started in N Gauge, but I got started in that period when Grafar was being bought by Bachmann and there weren't any Sets in production, had to get it all separately.
Awesome video i like the class 47 and its coaches :)
The video index is really helpful. Thanks.
I have been wanting this set since I first watched your video on it. Having quite the difficulty in finding one.
so happy
great review looks like a great set to have
I didn't know you were also into N gauge, but it's a very nice pack all the same! Thanks, Joachim
Great video I started out with a mail train set
Nice! I like UK Mail and Parcel rolling stock! Very different to those in America!
This was a great review. You have even convinced me to buy the set and I will hopefully make an n gauge layout for it.
It’s a brilliant set perfect for getting into n gauge or expanding a collection
@@Whovian-eq7ui It is a lovely set. There are many other parcels coaches you can add, and in many liveries from that period - plain blue, blue/grey, intercity, etc. Even the occasional rogue ScotRail or provincial van.
The only Night Mail train I will accept is Percy.
Why?
@@TankEngine75 because he's clearly the most reliable and the best even though he's fictional.

Top job Will 👍🏻
Don't worry about the coach weight, Will - it's just 'cause you're used to OO stuff. I'm an N gauger, and these are weighted fine - remember the N gauge motors are very small, so excess weight will give un-needed drag and add unwanted strain to the loco motors.
Totally agree.
Nice little set
Nice video. I have the GWR mail train on my layout
Will I saw a HST in GWR livery. LONG LIVE THE HST
Hello bro !!
Review is very nice I love it and I’m glad you are back I have been following you since 4yrs.I saw almost every review of locomotive and got knowledge on trains.I learned many things about model railways and real British locomotives and keeps encouraging me to buy more trains from the 🇬🇧 UK. Actually I’m from India I love British Railways.I bought many items from Hattons UK and big thanks to you for uploading wonderful n gauge train set review and yes don’t forget to give me like XD 😆 haha
Shoeb ;)) 🇮🇳
Hi Will. Nice review. Have the loco, OO version for my collection. Paid a fortune for it. Saw the loco in real life, just once, in platform 1, Glasgow Queen Street, a long time ago.
Got this set
Great unboxing & review, you are superb at showing what makes model railways so rewarding and entertaining.
Watching videos like this really makes me wish i had gone with N gauge instead of OO gauge.
I have several review/unboxing videos like this due to be released very soon, please take a moment to have a look.
I almost bought a model of tornado made by these guys a few years back
If you read this please look at the nene valley railway website because it has dates of when flying Scotsman and Tornado will be their. I would love to see you visit the railway one time as it stared in a couple of James Bond films. Also if you go make sure you go in the cafe as it is very nice.
Amazing
I can't believe you have taken the office layout down. That fun and took you 2 years to complete.
O MY GOD I WANT IT!!
Its time for Will to produce a wonderful small n scale layout inside a large box... Please... A few n scale props inside a free discarded cardboard box. Maybe the train set's box will be sufficient...
Will you be taking a look at the Bachmann oo9 Baldwins, I can tell you they are amazing.
I bought this to get me into N Gauge, since I had to downgrade from OO because of the little room I have. It is an amazing little set and highly recommend, maybe do a review on the Highlander set next?
The Highlander is another lovely set. It will be nice when the additional West Highland coaches are released (soon), although the recently released weathered MK1 coach twin pack with ScotRail branding are also perfect for the 37/4.
Great set, Will. Reckon GF (or Bachmann) could have included an extra coach as there was room in the box, though.
I remember having a lot of trouble with those crappy clips. Might look into it! Thanks!
Nice
the class 47 is very nice model and the set
the second coach is a GUV general purpose van or vehicle .they have no door ways on the ends for corridor access.
Great video :)
Wow
I remember buying my n gauge trainset it was this or the steelworker. I chose the steel worker.
It was funny when you said "this camera is obsessed with laminate flooring"!

You should have N gauge track running around the conservatory, so you could review more N gauge stuff
You need an N gauge Castle, Hall and 28XX and of course a Pannier tank :D Maybe Manor instead of a Hall?
I love train
Hi Will when are we going to see your oo layout that you started building upstairs before you took your break from youtube. we have all been waiting so long to see this. please Will can you give us all an update on this. Thanks for coming back to youtube and doing your vids again. best wishes
Cool....I have only one n guage set which is simiilar trix marklin superman returns set....nice vid....
This train set was quite smaller than the hornby train set!
I'm very new to model railways and have only completed one layout - a Thomas the Tank Engine for a 4 year old's birthday surprise. For my next layout, I am using 00 and 009 but I am finding 009 a pain. The track is harder to work with and for some reason, a lot of the Peco track small curves have fish-plates that fall off!
Watching this makes me want to go back to G scale. I feel as if I'm going to break it just by handling these tiny trains.
First and cool train set 🚂🚋🚋🚋🚋
Train!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Id take it, mostly cos im making an n scale layout
Is there a Great Train Robbery accessory set? N scale Ronnie Biggs etc.
Hi I’ve noticed there were no engine sounds on the loco do you have to buy the sound chips for these locos cheers
👍👍👍Gruß Konrad
I’m jealous of the weather in Australia we get no rain
Well a little in Victoria and a lot more in Queensland
But our country is in major drought
A very nice train set!
I noticed your trains on the shelves I would be careful about the Sun fading the paint on the trains
I think that your old camera was better than the new one for video quality and the sound was more natural sounding
Let them fade. It will make the trains more realistic...
Fabulous video! Why couldnt you just use the track from th n gauge project for the temporary layout? Whens the next mailbox monday?
you mention adding weight by using lead shot (liquid gravity). If you want to weigh down your stock with something easier to obtain & easier to implement (not forgetting cleaner as well), then I'd recommend self-adhesive Alloy Wheel weights. They're not too expensive, you can get a box of them in 5g, 10g for no more than £30. Liquid gravity may only cost about £10 for 240g but it can only really be obtained through model shops (which are sadly in decline) or online, wheel weights can be got through any good motorfactors. Then you've got to think about wastage as well, you are going to lose a little lead shot with every job but wheel weights have no wastage because they are just pieces of bar that you stick on which makes them so much more convenient & if you run out, you don't have to wait for them to arrive in the post, pop down to Euro Car Parts or CES (maybe Halfords) & pick up a box.
as for the liveries, during the eighties, they did mix & match coach & loco liveries during the eighties. On our club layout Stokesay, we run a mail train with Blue, Blue/Grey & Royal mail stock with some items in clean & weathered condition. The coaches ended up all over the place & were repainted at different times so I don't really understand why people would have issues with particular liveries running with eachother. Even a lot of intercity loco hauled trains, you'd have rakes of coaches in the Mainline livery with a few blue/greys in there too
Never thought of that
There is no need to add weight to these. They do not derail at reasonable or even high speeds.
Can you do some 009 gauge sets and locos.
I burnt out my Bachmann analogue controller and my gra far class 3MT makes a grinding noise
Gonna try a gaugemaster controller and Dapol locos instead
Do they all have NEM coupling pockets?
Cool class 47
please sir can we have some updates on hill ford ??
Sounds like a bee lol
I want that set brooooooo
Can you do more video with graham Farish
how many people in the vip coach - what about the cash after a bank holiday? can we move the engine fallward to the pick up point
Do you ever do video reviews on American train sets!
Your neighbor seems nice at 2:50
Damn, u have good eyes I didn't see that.
same
Wow, I thought it was a cat on the fence, good spot
Jw? When are you going to show us ur layout?
Queston, Can U Make An N Scale Train Layout
I've been doing oo guage but I don't have enough space, how much space do you save going into n gauge, like the measurements of two ovals one in oo guage and one in n guage, this would help Soo much, thanks
You can get four times the track in the same space.
I got five baby boy rats and I like your trains
is n gauge cheaper than 00? because i was thinking of making a n gauge layout
With the level of craftmenship that goes into n guage, many sets go for as low as £180 but oo guage goes as low as £90, this is a big price difference, but it mainly regards the amount of space you have to offer, plus n guage can be less costly to do scienary, so when thinking about what you should get, it also depends on if you want a simple oval going through a beautiful Forrest or an intricate track with many sidings for trains to hide in and big commercial stations. I went on a bit of a ramble but I hope this helped.
N guage, higher upfront cost but cheeper scienary,
OO guage, cheeper upfront cost but takes up more room and more long term costs.
No matter what, this is an expensive hobby.
thank you and after reading your comment i think i'll stick with 00 gauge :)
very true.
I picked up a 00 gauge train set for £40 not long ago - and i've known them to be cheaper than buying the locos on their own. N gauge is considerably more expensive (but in my opinion more fun!)
You may have mentioned it and I missed it? - but is the loco DCC ready?
6 Pin NEM 651.
Whoa.. This model seems pretty small, but expensive, right??
N scale rules!
Note: Transformers are AC Only
Why is the loco running at 300mph?
I want this train set cost how much
will you be re-building the N gauge project
Is an N gauge scale figure of Ronnie Biggs included?
I was gonna ask where the getaway car was!
No. The train he robbed was pulled by a class 40, so including that figure in a class 47 set would be historically inaccurate.
Bachmann sucks here across the pond and single flat from a company called athearn is cheaper the the same flatbed by Bachmann. Norfolk Southern heritage locomotives are way overpriced, 8102 (Pennsylvania) is cheaper then Intermountian's version. But Bachmann is a very big necessity for train sets. Just aslong as you got a hobbyshop ready to knock it down to 64$ for a starter set.
Sucks in the UK too! They have no standard for detail. Just look at the Graham Farish Class 47....wire handrails on the sides and moulded on ones on the front. How STUPID!!!
This is Bachmann's logic
- Class 47 = moulded handrails on the front, wire handrails on the side
- Class 31 = wire sandpipes, wire handrails on the side, moulded handrails on the front
- Class 70 = no sandpipes at all and it is very prominent on these.
If you Google images of these locos you'll see what I mean, the sandpipes on the Class 31 are less noticeable than on the Class 70 and they did the opposite.
@@WDG13031 feel ya they need to step it up and start listening to the customer I have asked for the Shay locomotive and PRR heritage unit sence they stopped and the quality is going down if you have the American catalog you'll know what I mean. BTW what have the discontinued because of how popular it is?
Whats the price of this set ??
Where i can buy this ?
Nais Disellok
What's the price in usd?
