If Brock came back, he was getting a title shot. If Anderson beat Stylebender and Robert didn’t get hurt, he was getting a title shot. Jon Jones comes back and gets a title shot all these guys have come back from USADA. Back in the day there were certain exceptions for guys skipping the cue, and it happened very rarely... I know we're in a different climate now with how the UFC operates, but even if this was back in the day I think it would be acceptable for Uriah to get the title shot with all that he's done for the company... and let's be real, that's one hell of a fight. Aljamain can fight Peter Yan to see who gets the next shot. Those guys are young and still need to build some name value.

The case against Faber vs Cejudo
Faber has had 4 titles shots since coming to the UFC, and 8 throughout his career! But in the UFC, he's had plenty on opportunities to get the strap.
Most of his shots were after one ☝️ single win, meaning he was fighting for the belt every other fight, or at most after 2 consecutive wins.
He had a pretty good streak in 2013, but Michael McDonald being the only notable win during that streak. IF we're being honest, he doesn't have many top-tier names on his list (at least not in the UFC) Meanwhile you have guys that have actually been putting in work HERE AND NOW, have winstreaks, are beating top-tier guys, and they aren’t getting a shot. We're sitting here even considering the idea of Faber getting a shot *after 1 win,* meanwhile Tony Ferguson is on a 867 fight winstreak, and he's STILL hasn't been guaranteed the next shot.
*We need to stop worrying about storylines and start focusing on making sure the most deserving fighter is fighting for the strap AT ALL TIMES.* That would cut down on a lot the shenanigans. Cejudo is calling out names that can fast-track him to legend status. He's trying to take a short-cut. Not that he can't beat the best in his division(s), but he wants to beat legends so that they're notches on his belt, not because they offer any actual threat to him.

It'll be hard for Urijah to do this, but assuming he waits long enough for whatever reason, he could challenge Randy Couture for the Oldest Champion ever (I believe Randy was 42/43 when he beat Tim Sylvia for the belt). Urijah is one of the most respectable fighters in the history of the sport. He may have been involved with drama, but that is all hear say. He shows up to fight. Chael and Urijah are very much the same in regards to talent and difficulty they've fought and having not won a title (in the UFC).
As a California native, I am probably biased but you cannot deny him respect. He fought Frankie Edgar in a weight class he left years ago, and has fought the who's who at Featherweight and Bantamweight (and beaten many of his foes).
Thank you Chael for the coverage, and Urijah for being a great competitor.

@Kirk Landau Yeah I agree also UFC never directly calls it number 1 contender fights so only the hardcores know that it should be one. That way they can put a guy like Faber in for title lol for the little more ppvs he can do. Even though he's not huge draw either.

I'm not happy with the fights they keep giving Cub Swanson, dude is legit but why are they always giving him submission type fighters, sure MMA is about being rounded (which Cub absolutely is!) but they know he'll piece up some new and up coming striker so they give him less favourable fights all the time.

Hey to you good sir the undefeated American gangster two things I have for you big man .
First is just to let you know I look forward to anything you put out for us I really enjoy hearing your opinions being from the midlands over in the U.K. I don’t get to follow much wrestling but I still enjoy hearing you talk on the subject .
Secondly what did Ricky say to you guys about the stoppage ??
I don’t think he was going to go out or even go close to getting knocked out but I do think Uriah would have swarmed him and Ricky might have not been able to recover in time or get into a position in which to intelligently defend himself .
My opinion is the stoppage was a touch early but even though Simon wasn’t going to be KO’ed I think he would have been unable to stop Uriah swarming him with unanswered blows and therefore the ref would have been forced to stop the fight .
Was Ricky unhappy with how it ended or was he pragmatic enough to realise the fight was going to be stopped when Faber landed the next few blows so regardless if the stoppage was a second or two early it was still getting stopped so it made no difference to the outcome anyway ?
Or is the gyms opinion on the stoppage not suitable for print ?

The MW division was packed. You had Mousasi, Jacare, Whittaker, Yoel, Brunson, Rockhold and Branch who were all close to title oppurtunities, yet because of Bisping and Henderson that division took a huge dive. In terms of names it's still big, but most of the MWs in the top don't even have a 2 fight win streak going for them. The BW division is amazing right now and hopefully the UFC doesn't screw the division up.

Henry vs Faber is probably biggest fight you can make with both fighters. UFCs new star cejudo will become an even bigger star after he tools up Faber.....
Conor can do bigger business with someone other than Jorge, and Conor wouldn't accept a fight against Jorge. Conor is more likely to fight winner of Diaz vs Pettis, or Tony Ferguson

You have to take into consideration what all Urijah has done for the sport. When he was fighting in the WEC it was owned my the UFC’s old parent company Zuffa. So even though he wasn’t technically in the UFC he was still working for them under that umbrella. I’m 38 so I know a lot of you in this comment section will remember when Urijah first came on the scene there. He was like 14 and 1 then with his only loss coming to Tyson Griffin when they fought at some low level promotion in a boxing ring outside in the middle of the day. They didn’t have the corner post padding on good and in the beginning of the fight Urijah hit his head on that metal pole with no padding and had to fight with a busted head gushing blood. So a lot of people didn’t count that loss back then.. He had got the featherweight title In the WEC after that and defended it six times! All his title fights were free on the Vurses channel except for one. They did the first ever countdown show on that channel then for the WEC and Urijah was the main event. It showed how he had bought up a street of 5 houses and moved nothing but fighters in and called it “the block”. My point being those fights being free and that countdown show and many more they did on him got HUGE numbers of eyeballs on not only the smaller weight class guys but the sport in general. People would be shocked if there was a way to tally up the amount of fans alone that Urijah was responsible for bringing to the UFC... I know that reason alone doesn’t warrant a title shot but he is a ex multiple time champion under the Zuffa banner and for many years the only time he lost a fight was in title fights.. I’ve obviously always been a huge fan of his and the only time I got frustrated with him was after watching him destroy several guys in a row once the UFC brought all the WEC guys over and earn a title shot he would go into the title fight with Cruz or whoever and look nothing like he did in the fights prior that got him there! Looking back I think he was just burnt out. He’s been doing this for so long.. The Urijah I saw the other night was the old Urijah! And not just because he won in great fashion as fast as he did.. but watching him walkout and everything you could tell his head was 100 percent in the game. Looks like his retirement break did him a lot of good. Plus at his age he knows if he truly wants that title it has to be done fast.. I know I just wrote a book but it’s late and I’m just thinking out loud. Lol. I definitely see no problem with giving him the title shot. I think from a fan and entertainment aspect all the way to a merit aspect it makes sense in both. A lot of those guys that fought in the WEC back then did so much for the sport and brought so many eyeballs to mma. Cowboy, Aldo, Cruz, Pettis, the list goes on. Urijah was the face of the WEC though and his fights and personality won more fans than a lot of people realize.

I really wish Urijah wouldn't do what everyone else seems to do. They have a good fight after 2 yrs or have 2 good fights after time off and they think it's Championship time. Let's just bypass everybody that has been grinding out win streaks and get a title shot. Now all those fighters that aren't getting paid the big money they have to sit idle for 8 months and risk injury and having to bounce in a bar to make more than 20k a year.
    Rant finished!🤼‍♂️🥋
