Only way i can see it making sense is the fact that Ross did mistakenly think Chandler got so drunk and slept with the lady that cleans their dorm when in reality it was Ross. In the scene Ross is explaining how his first time with Carol, was his first time. Chandler hearing him open up about it probably thought: maybe this is not a good time to tell him he got really drunk and slept with the cleaning lady. It would make sense…but we all know that really isn’t the case the writers definitely forgot…
A plot hole occurs in the writing stage. This is an inconsistency in how the character was written and their backstory. A continuity error occurs in the filming stage e.g. if a character has nearly finished their drink in one shot, but in the next shot their glass is full again.
Also in the first season when Ross and Rachel are doing laundry he describes the washing detergent he brings as “German and extra tough” referring to him. I guess because he has a German surname they originally wanted him to play into his German heritage. It was never brought up again
The one that was the strangest to me was at the Chandler's and Monica's wedding. Chandler looks down and notices how small Joey's feets are. It seems that, for so many years of their life together, Chandler never looked down...
It's possible that Ross didn't mistake his actions for Chandler's but rather mistook himself for the lady that cleaned their dorm... Although the plothole would still be there...
I see no contradiction, Ross tends to keep his shameful secrets to himself for as long as possible. It would be easier for him to admit he's only had sex with one woman than to tell about that one drunken night with the cleaning lady
What bothers me is when Chandler learned how to slip money on a handshake from Richard in the episode when Chan and Joey hang with Richard. Then much much later, when Chandler and Monica are engaged, and Monica suggests to slip in some money so that they get an early table in a Restaurant, Chandler doesn’t know how Monica knows it. Even when he figures it was Richard, not once he remembers that Richard ALREADY taught him that.
Problem with writers' rooms I think. Almost any long running series is going to forget details about characters because there are so many people writing it at the same time.
@@CP-yd7lp I mean, sure it’s not that serious, but no one forgets their first time lol. That’s literally one of the most important moments of your whole life.

A. That can be chandler, as a character lying B. Ross forgets and did think Caroll was his first time. C. Creators of the show not rembering all the bios of their characters over 100's of episodes...... Most likely, C but could be A or B. What it's definitely not, is a plot hole.

I thought the plot hole was going to be about Ross saying he told everyone, including his sister, and in the very next episode Monica says her brother never even told her when he lost his virginity.
It's NOT a plothole. He clearly misremembered the whole thing so when he was talking about Carol he was telling it how he remembered it. In HIS mind AT THAT TIME she was "his first". I'd say try and explain why Ross celebrates the same birthday 3 years in a row (same age). And has different dates of birth.
That's not a plot hole, it's a bible error. In TV shows there is someone who watches the episode and records all of the things characters got up to or said they did, they call this record the show's 'bible', when a writer writes an event or situation for a character they then have to check the bible to see if said event or situation conflicts with anything said or done in an earlier episode. Either the recorder failed to update the bible in the earlier episode or the writer failed to check the bible in the later episode. The bible will have sections such as "places Ross has been", "political stances Ross has", "Ross's sexual exploits", etc, they are pretty thorough and they have to be to avoid stuff like this.
How do people stay in the same relationship with the same person for years? Even like a day would seem impossible to me, like everywhere you go you would have to hold the persons hand, you would have to pee together and bath together, work together, and always stay in each other line of sight otherwise you would end up with a different version of the person from who knows where, you could end up getting a version of them from a hell dimension for all you know and then when your not looking they would slip something into your drink to make you fall asleep and then eat you alive!?!
Maybe Carol was the lady who cleaned their dorm.
They *did* know each other for a while.
Carol is the mother of Ben and his first partner.

My favorite is how Ross’s birthday changes from that same hospital episode to later being October 18

They just "slept together". That's all.
Slept doesn't mean they had sex. Make out and all. And plus he had the memory that Chandler did it so yeah not a plot hole
They didn't had intercourse. They simply slept together as he said he was drunk. Carol was his first & only one meaning they did it consensually.
In the later seasons of Friends they'd throw away years of character development for a cheap joke like this, so it doesn't surprise me.
