I remember the video when you shared your loss and my heart broke for you. And then all the life changes that followed. And of course, the heartbreak of having to make a tough decision to postpone the PCT, hoping that some day, you would be able to take on that challenge. You are an amazing story teller, and you have a beautiful voice. Thinking you should be writing because you have a way with words. :) Just sayin... Love the huge manzanitas on that section of trail @7:39. The bark is such a beautiful contrast with that deep mahogany color, it if feels so smooth to the touch. I look forward to where you are headed in all your future endeavors!
I love Idyllwild. I live in Orange County, so not too far away. You said something in this video that reminded me of a quote I heard not too long ago on another RUclips video. "Don't confuse comfort for happiness." This quote rings true for me, and why I'm making changes to live my best life. I can resonate with so much of what you said. Just found your channel and will be excited to watch your adventures unfold.
I also want to hile the PCT as an army veteran I know a thing or too about hiking 20 miles a day so I know I can do it physically and mentally i just need to find the time to do it. Watching your videos has lit a fire in me to stop putting it off and go for it. ❤️
I'm a baby boomer in Oklahoma who is a new subscriber to your channel. This is a beautiful video in so many ways. It has moved me to tears in a happy, peaceful way. I really look forward to following your journey. Keep your joy!
San Jacinto mountain?! I live 10 or 15 miles west of there off of the freeway. I was really touched by your story last night when I watched your video. I am so glad that you have found your way to healing and are doing what you really love. My husband and I, and sometimes with our boys spent quite a bit of time hiking and swimming on the mountain and walking through Idyllwild. When you showed Idyllwild, I had a bit of a meltdown and was in sync with you. One of our sons passed away suddenly in 2009 and my husband in 2014. Your video brought back soooo many wonderful memories and I long for those days. Take care, I am with you all the way.
Nothing says West Coast like Stellar Jays and Mansynita trees. I get it it, though. I did the career, reared chil2, loved a man with all my heart, but alas he expired at a young age (67) and suddenly. Leaving me with out my roots and in a foreign land... our children were reared here and consider it home, but I don't have those connections. My heart is still broken, bu😂 I do realize it frees me to backpack and explore the USA and the world beyond..My late husband did his world travel before marriage and children. I guess I am destined to do it after. I can't wait to follow along on your journey. Blessings.
Hello, I'm a new subscriber, and I think your choice to live a nomadic life demonstrates so much courage. I love the idea of traveling, but I am so afraid of driving long distances on my own. Also, I know what it's like to leave a comfortable life for one that isn't as comfortable. One day, I'll figure things out, pack my bags and go an adventure too.
I recently discovered your channel and deeply resonate with many of your insights. As a nomad at heart, I constantly strive to balance the demands of marriage, family life, and my wanderlust

Idyllwild is my go-to place to relax. By the way, both the mayor and deputy mayor are golden retrievers (it's an unincorporated area, so there really is no central government). Thank you for sharing your story. I am always interested in the whys and hows of nomadic life. Happy Thanksgiving!
I watched one video about someone living in their car, and now my whole feed is just car dwellers! Lol. I’d go crazy living in a car that long! I’m a songwriter and just started a RUclips channel-funny how time changes us, right? Have fun and enjoy the ride! Greetings from Nashville, TN.
Hi I love Idyllwild! I live in the Coachella Valley and in the summer my family and I rent a cabin for 2 months out there to get a little bit of relief from the heat. If not Idyllwild we go to Big Bear. ❤🙏
People shouldnt judge others/anyone for the choises they make. Im going to be on the road by this January. In a relationship that doesnt think my happiness is important. I absolutely love your channel. You are inspirational and strong person. Keep going. Maybe one day we could meet up for a hike and coffee. Ignore those dumb comments
Thanks for the hikes... I found your channel years back when you and a friend hiked up from idlewid to the top of the mountain and camped the night... big hike, good video... thanks...
Do you have a storage? Do you only own what is in your car? Any kids? Love your videos! I am sorry for the questions, but I admire u so much for the way you live your and how free you are! I wish I could do that!

I been watching your videos for a month now and I wasn’t subscribed 🤦🏼♀️ I been so curious why you chose to be a nomad. I got my answer and you and your aunt Catherine give me inspiration to start Hiking and maybe start a nomad life in the future. Love all your videos. 🌲🌲🏕️
I love your channel! It’s such a simple, yet beautiful life you’re living! I appreciate your willingness to share a bit about your past life, prior to this adventure. Did you get this nomadic style of living from your mom? I saw the other video and she was amazing cooking outdoors ❤
Social media isnt replacing real relationships. U might be alone right now, u might get great support on social media right now, but i pray u find deep meaningful relationships and not rely on ur followers support and encouragement because that only goes so far. Ur young and lively and enjoyable and i pray ur life is filled with real ppl and relationships.
I appreciate your concern. I have a wonderful relationship with my family and many long term friends despite us sometimes being a long distance from one another.
This woman is cooked. She thinks their is meaning in being a self serving waste of space. She destroyed her family to gain a shallow social media following. Very sad. Americans are cooked
I've been following and subscribed a few months back. I'm keeping current with the new stuff but also go back and check out your older posts. In your last video (that i saw), you described a bit more about the YT algorithm. I think that skipping the seasonal work and concentrating solely on cranking out the posts ( i think you said a goal of 3 per week) will surely increase your subscribers. Looking forward to joining you on your upcoming PCT trip and the prepping and planning and training journey leading up to it. I like your style...clearly intelligent and interesting storytelling, nice musical choices to go with some beautiful videography. Keep 'em coming!
❤❤❤ Idylwild! I spent Labor Day Wkend there & enjoyed that hike! You are so close to me! I admire & respect you even more after hearing your story. I already thought you were a gutsy woman but now I know for certain you are! Keep growing just as your channel is… 20K is in sight. Enjoy your family time!

wow! really beautiful area. college roommate from hema-cinto so have some great memories of area n surrounds. this video makes me kinda sad though. not sure why but will keep following and maybe will be more and more happy in future. thank you for sharing and best wishes to you and family.
I’m sorry this video made you sad. It was intended to share a little of my story but primarily to provide hope for people that may be going through similar challenges. I’m very happy in this phase of life.
There were some nice Madrona trees on that hike. That was a beautiful trail! Looking at comments, I see that those trees were Manzanita trees. I searched Google and found how they are different. The Madronas grow tall. The Manzanitas stay more like bushes and their little apple fruits are edible. Thanks for making so many great videos!
Great video as always, a bit short. but I'm learning that filming takes so long. I don't really blame you and I have no idea how you film, edit and live in a car at the same time. Will done. I'm filming the my van conversion myself. It take so long setting up shots and actually trying to get things done. Maybe one day I'll learn how to edit and post the video's. From primary school, I realised that the so called system (get an education, find a career, get married, borrow money, buy a house and car, have kids, work 9 to 5 until you retire) wasn't for me. I wanted freedom, experiences, and no obligations nor responsibilites. This is how I have lived my life since I left high school during year 10. My ex (a much older woman , as they cannot get pregnant) and I travelled extensively around australia. We went our seperate ways many years ago, but ironically both of us kept on travelling around the country. She passed away a few years ago. I though am still travelling. I have worked in many different industries, have been to many grand openings , events and hiked in many national parks. Now I have a RUclips channel to support my travels. There is no way I would have survived mentally had i got involved in the worlds system.
I found your channel a little over a week ago I think. I have gone back and several videos now including one you posted with saying the sent you notification due to more interaction they were going to send your channel out to more viewers. I must of been one of those. I didn’t seek you out. You just showed up on home suggestion screen. I like you touched on that little bit of info allowing us to see how this works. We are so similar... When I turned 50 (just over 6 years ago), I began the process of separating and divorcing an abusive wife. I went from being a hard working husband, living in a multi million dollar beach house, to a carefree bachelor living in my SUV. I'm also childless with no regrets. I have a weird question. When you’re sleeping in car do you crack window? I have a vision of me suffocating if I don’t. lol. I’m about to head out on my journey. Need to learn a lot and leave fear behind.
I didn’t want this video to be a trauma dump-that’s not the energy of my channel. The quick version is that I suffered a catastrophic miscarriage that also nearly ended my life. I (we) had carefully crafted a life with the purpose of being a mother. After the miscarriage, I was told I couldn’t bare children. That news with the PTSD resulting from my miscarriage and near death forced me into change for my own survival.
@@nomad_unknown, thank you for sharing that. I understand the trauma of miscarriage. I had several, but I still suffer from that last one. I was fortunate enough to have expert medical help and a supportive husband, so in our one last attempt I was successful in carrying our only child. At 64 now, I’m more than ready to hit the road again. 🤷♀️💜
Did you leave a husband and kids ? I consider a housewife someone who has kids.. I was a housewife with 3 children for 14 years then went back to work. Maybe your definition isn’t the same as mine ? Thanks
Am i missing that u didn't say anything about y u left ur family or home. How u just leave ur husband? Or leave that out..., not just I like hiking so i left my husband. Thats odd. Whats love of adventure have to do with leaving marriage? Just curious
If i take wild guess, ur situation isnt as it seems, that ur explanation is leaving out reality and just glorifying ur situation. What got u to where u are isnt just love of nature u cud of changed jobs or bought a farm. If ur sharing and encouraging others atleast be honest that ur situation isnt ideal, it isnt about travel either. Ur not where u r just because u love hiking. U dont live in a car just because u love hiking. No offense ur sweet lady ....but its not truth. If u had chance to maintain marriage, live in home and travel im sure u wud. Dont glorify parts of ur life that r not whole just because u want it to be ok. Crap happens, but u didnt leave because u love hiking. A hideaway isnt a fruitful life. Soothing urself isnt a fruitful life. If u can reconcile urself u can probably go home. The things we enjoy in life r not meant to pacify away reality. Life is too precious to pacify urself thru it. Best wishes sweety.
I don’t know what my situation seems like to you. I’m presenting myself authenticity and if you think I should feel differently about my life- I don’t know what to say to that. 🤷🏼♀️
I began a new life too 5 years ago when I called on the Lord Jesus Christ to rescue me from the darkness that I found myself in. God answered my call and physically healed me and removed the deep depression and anxiety I had and I was born again in October 2019. Life is still hard, but it's so much better now that I live my life with the Lord. God bless you.
I always get some really weird feelings from religious people pushing their beliefs on others. It really rubs me the wrong way, and honestly, it's just a turn off. Many also go on the attack if you express a differing viewpoint and/or are very judgemental 🙄
Nomadic life can't be better than being married and financially secure. Trust me. But i wish u luck. Rooting for u. We have to be real with the ppl that are on the brink of divorce so they're not chasing something that won't be worth it in the end.
That can depend on who you're married to. Not judging you or others. Enjoy your life, and make sure both names of marital partners are on the bank accounts and property deeds. Just sayin'.
Guess that depends on who you are now doesn’t it? I lead your ideal life. Was miserable. Divorced nomad 20 years later and never happier. Normally when folks say “trust me” I don’t.
Being lonely when you are alone is much better than being lonely when you are with someone who doesn't or isn't able to care about you. Financial security is a relative term. Some are never satisfied (very sad) and some are happy and content living their life fully. Watch out for regrets later if you're sucking it up now for some perception of safety and security in the future because of you are afraid of doing it alone. You may do it alone anyway. Good luck.

@@valeriefromoregon She did say housewife, and that children were not in the cards, and that...tragedy. I think that's about all we're going to get.
So sorry for your loss.
Thank you for sharing as much as you have!
I enjoy watching your channel. Best of luck to you living the life of your dreams!
Check you out! So many more subs and likes! Yay!
How do you support yourself? How old are you?
I’ve been working 7-8 months out of the year for the past few years doing seasonal work. I also earn money from RUclips.
Did you change your channel name ? Wasn’t it Girl Hikes ?
Yes! I changed the name a few years ago when I started doing more seasonal work and international travels.
How geegeous woman I'm in love ❤❤
Did you leave a husband and kids ? I consider a housewife someone who has kids.. I was a housewife with 3 children for 14 years then went back to work. Maybe your definition isn’t the same as mine ?
Thanks
I wasn’t able to carry a child to term. I never had any children.
Am i missing that u didn't say anything about y u left ur family or home. How u just leave ur husband? Or leave that out..., not just I like hiking so i left my husband. Thats odd. Whats love of adventure have to do with leaving marriage? Just curious
You are missing something.
Theres no such thing as security.
I use to like Idyllwild but the town is super overrated it lost its charm a while ago
Does your ex check out your RUclips channel too? AWKWARD....... hehe.
Ha! I have no idea
Yes. … Divorced single life stinks! Trust me!!!
Good luck.
Highly highly agree with this! I’m interested in her journey though.
So you left your husband because you couldn't have a baby. That's stupid and heartless. What am I missing here?
I think you’re missing compassion. Seems obvious.
@nomad_unknown Perhaps, but why suffer 2 losses? Your husband needs you as much as you need him, especially in a tragic event like that.
