Understanding pink eye: the basics

2️⃣ Bacterial Pink eye: Characterized by red, watery eyes with excessive mucus discharge and can be painful. See an eye doctor for anti-bacterial drops and wait 24-48 hours before returning to close contact settings.
3️⃣ Allergic Pink eye: Characterized by red, watery, itchy eyes, and swelling. Not contagious and can be treated with artificial tears and cool compresses or over-the-counter or prescription allergy eyedrops.
