Great interview. Yngwie shows he is a humble guy. So all the haters can stick it. It is rather disheartening to me that his live shows pull maybe 100-200 or so people. At least the ones I've been to. This guy is a brilliant musician and always puts on the best shows. Makes me feel special to be there enjoying it amongst other fans who actually show up and support him and his band.
Yngwie is one of the nicest people you can meet. All the negative rumors about him come from either from the distant past where he was under lots of stress and in turbulent times OR just plain jealous trolls that see in him a reflection of their own iniquity because he makes them feel like turds because he's so talented. The guy is a good person and so is April.
I love your comment, and I think there is a very big reason why those bands exist. And its because they were SO inspired by Yngwie or they may have heard Yng, and then turned to Bach like he did. I think they are cool for doing that, however I personally find Yngwie's music to touch me the most. Also, if any sort of music can help remedy the effects of the Boston attack. It's Yngwie's. He totally unleashed the fury! Awesome interview.
I miss the old days when Yngwie was seen playing black, red, sonic blue, natural, and sunburst strats. Since around 1998, he is seldom see with anything other than a vintage white strat. Which are beautiful, but it was so cool when he played them all. Still, Yngwie rocks.
stratplayer2 I think part of it is promoting his signature model (he gets royalties) and part of it is standardizing what he plays. When your instrument always has the exact same specifications and you’re always working with the same exact tool it improves performance over time I think.
"hand him something to hold"... haha... If you look closely you see a signature on the headstock... whose signature do you think that is..? Yngwie has his own signature Strat by Fender made exactly after Yngwie's modified ones... He uses several identical of these in every show. He was actually the first guitarist ever (even before Clapton, back in late 80s) to get a signature model by Fender.
Who cares what kind of guitar? I'm sure he can play yours just as well. Kind of a stupid question.Yeah he does have/had a signature guitar with a scalloped neck!

I fail to see how the color of the guitar would impact the "performance."

I remember going to best buy, only to be disappointed to find out that he didn't have a cd. Fucking bullshit.
That's why, i was assuming he did. I had no clue that he just released it only online. That sucked.

I love 5:44! The way he looks down over his guitar, looks like friggin Thor!! A GOD!
I am reading Relentless, It is a great read, I have so much respect for Yngwie.
Great read for sure.
That book made me laugh quite a bit. You can tell yngwie wrote it. His sense of humor is very unique.
is this ozzie, pre drugs?
Well said!

Yngwie is humble as fuck. He just talks with confidence which is what modern guitarists lack.
Yngwie is the Master!

Yngwie is and always be the GOD of electric guitar! Who can challenge him, Pettruci, Vai Satriani? lol
Yngwie is the best. Come back to England Yngwie. It's been too long.
