I have always been successful buying the random mystery box of tools. Anytime you go to a yard sale or an estate sale there's always that box of stuff and sometimes it's power tools sometimes it's hand tools but as long as you don't pay much for the Box there's always something in there you can make money on.
I just got a BEAR sized deal on a Fluke 28ii True RMS Multimeter, brand new in box with all accessories out the door for $147 after tax, that's a $450 multimeter! CL can be great, but ALWAYS check the local pawn shops for good deals.
It really depends on your area . Some places it’s Facebook marketplace other places it’s craigslist other places it’s another app. It’s a regional sort of thing. The key is adding value to the tool and taking good pics and being descriptive in your listing
I got a swell deal on a 42 craftsman box once for $45 some draws were locked got them unlocked over $200 worth of tools 🔧 and car parts love 💘 yard sales
Wow, all sorts of thing. I picked mine up for doing rivets in holsters but I use it for all sorts of things. There are attachments you can put on the end of the press to do different jobs. Punching through metal and leather, cutting shapes, popping bearings in and even basic stuff like crimping the end of a tube.
All good and well but the amount of time and effort you physically put in to buy, resell, repair, tinker would add up along with the length of time it took to flip the stuff would compound on the benefit of doing this kind of thing. If you were invested in an expensive tool that wasent reselling than youd be at a stale mate..
I brought HF dust collector and did the wynn filter/cyclone mod. 10 years, still going strong. Was worth every penny. The stock cloth filter was meh, now all the fines are gone.
God I wish things worked for me like that, in my area on stuff I sell you are damn lucky to get half of what you have in something back out of it when you sell it. I'm talking mint condition stuff too, just too many people where I'm at equals market over saturation. However you can buy stuff on the super cheap.
What parts of KY? I used to live in the Cincinnati area. That said I use mostly Craigslist and sometimes OfferUp. I have tried Facebook marketplace but that is a real crap shoot in my area.
Hey me too.. lexintonian.. lol.. ky’s a hard cookie when it comes to tools seems like.. either they know what theyre talking about or just dont mess with that kind of thing..
+J Lang I think you might be thinking of the diesel engine, that had some serious issues. While it's true that lots of folks didn't care for how the computer regulated the cylinders, and many people disabled that function, the engine itself earned a reputation of being extremely reliable over the years. And actually this cars in top-notch shape I just literally don't have a space for it between my pickup truck the sedan our 33-foot RV and the trailer
I once bought bought a bunch if older delta tools including a floor drill press, full size wood lathe, mini bandsaw, 6 inch jointer ( the floor model not the bench top models), and 10 inch contractors tablesaw with mibile base and the extended table too for 600 bucks, i love craigslist!, i then cleaned them up and made about 600 bucks profit!
Feel free to post any CL links to tools you want Da Bear to comment on.
I love that you offer to take a look and offer your opinion. Your're the best!!

A 1981 Cadillac V8-6-4?
Do you really need the space or is it just too full of problems? Those engines supposedly had notorious reliability problems!

It's called edutainment. It's about having fun while talking about what can really be a dry subject.
