Thanks so much!
I had first set up our guest portal years ago and was completely unfamiliar with the new interface. Ours had stopped working and setting up the landing page fixed it.
Thanks a lot for the explanation
Thanks for the tutorial. Very helpful. I am a bit confused though about the IP address assignment in both cases. I want to separate the subnets of my devices so I don't run out of IP addresses. It seems like in the SSID case, the IPs are in the same subnet as the rest of network. Is that correct? Also in the case of VLAN, I use a Comcast business router. It don't think it possesses VLAN capabilities. Do I have to purchase a VLAN switch or gateway before I can use that option?
I think answers to both are yes.
Thanks!!
great video thank you :)
Hello, in my university we have this portal hotspot but აfter some time it stopped working... in VLAN I did not create a new virtual network, I was still on the default network, The problem is that the authentication didn't work, it won't show me the login page after connecting, Is it possible that the problem is in the virtual network ? Or I had not marked isolation on the default virtual one and that's why it didn't work ? Is it possible that the IP addresses that were written were no longer on the default virtual network and that's why it didn't work anymore ? Thanks for the video and I'd appreciate it if you could help
If you are referring to the fact landing page/hotspot page is not showing up, I believe at one point UniFi changed the default setting (at least so I believe). When I just created new Guest WiFi using SSID method, all went fine except I didn't see pop up (landing page). So I went to Hotspot Manager page. They had "landing page" disabled. So all I had to do is "enable" it and save. Then make sure you forget the network on client device to start fresh. I now see landing page.
So is it common practice to have your Router/Gateway IP to be on a different subnet as your say business WiFi network and business Guest WiFi network?
I use these for home setup so I can’t say what’s the best or even common practice for SMB or larger scale business, but I would think creating own VLAN or use native LAN dedicated for management makes more sense.
@@gametechfocus4295 Thank you!
I am sorry to say that, with my hearing problem and even with the use of quality hearing aids, I cannot decipher exactly what is being said.
I need to be able to follow the instructions, as I am a complete novice at setting up a guest network on my U6.
The speech impediment total kills it for me..
Sorry it didn’t work out for you. There is written version as well. Good luck.
