I love that this video is done on a real E36. You see so many videos where the underbody and suspension components are brand new or extremely clean. Love this channel and this company! Keep it up guys!
We love your support Justin! 99% of the cars we work on are simply employee projects/cars, so they're almost always in some sort of realistic condition to how most people would buy em and work em.
We always make it a point to put Paint Reference marks on all the Adjusters. Helps for counting turns etc. I suspect Manufactures do a decent job, but we also re -reference the marks on the Camber Plates for accuracy after the Alignment Shop has done their thing. Crusty ol' BMW needs some love.
Had to do front and rear suspension when restoring my 1999 M3. Upgraded to Billsteins all around, passed on the coilovers. This car was made to ride on conventional shocks and struts. Coilovers and/or lowering springs negatively impact track driving and cornering. This car was specifically designed to pitch slightly forward for better handling and cornering. When you alter the geometry the engineers laid out, you’re on your own. 😕
Excellent video, and nice job! Would be great to show how the actual adjustments work for the valving and give some information regarding that for ride comfort or performance.
Great video! Most of the other coilover videos completely gloss over the rear installation so that part was especially helpful. I, for one, would love to see a video on how to adjust ride height. Please do it!
@@fcpeuro gimme an e39 530i with a manual any day over the idrive smg garbage. Change the cooling system every 50-60k and all is good ! I support FCP euro btw...great prices and service 👍
This is exactly was I was looking for. A detailed install overview. I just ordered mine through FCP Euro and cant wait to start the install tomorrow on my day off :)
You Sir, are a master mechanic, I very much enjoy your vids, they are both instructional and informative, apricate your efforts very much. Cheers (Australia)
great video! I'm about to install a set and the info on setting up the rear helped a ton! did you get a chance to make a ride height setup video? I'd love to watch that next.
hello i have a z3 wondering for coilovers in the rear do you need to tighter the shock tower before bringing the car to the floor or do you bring it to the floor then tighten the shock tower nuts
Love the vid! Very detail and lots of info! 1 question, why are the rear reinforcement plates placed on top of the car’s body while the front reinforcement plates are placed in between the body and the coilover? Should the rear plates be the same way as the fronts? Thanks!
Did you need spacers? Edit: also I see you put the front top mount reinforcements in the with the rubber mount. You didn’t feel the need to use for the rear as well? Thanks
When dealing with repairs and car parts, the sides are constantly being referred to from the driver seat, so the left is always the driver (for us U.S. folks), and the right is always the passenger side. Hope that helps!
Great video. Can these be ordered with Swift springs? Also @ 24:06 is that the correct orientation of the camber plate or is it supposed to be rotated 90 degrees? Thanks for a great video.

Nice video. Ah BCs on a 25yo e36 with all original rear bushings and ball joints. Right at home.
Truly a match made in heaven.

100% support. I love to see you guys helping keep these amazing cars on the roads today. You are doing a huge service to the entire community.

Nature’s lock tight...never heard that before, lol 😂
Hopefully new rear tires are on the list too...holy cording!
yaaa its in rough shape! No cheaper lock tite than some good ole free New England winters :-)
Do a video on oil filter housing gasket replacement

My favorite thing is the chords showing on the roller wheels ;)
Good video though
wish you guys would do another video on lowering and raising the front and rear suspension on these coilovers
Truly amazing video. Hope to have a proper setup for more Nurburgring laps
7:44 funny guy 😂
Holy shit those rear tires are shot
Donuts and dry rot may or may not have been the cause of this...
Looked like the tires needed replacing too lol they riding on those MayPops

Not yet, but we can certainly add one to our queue!

good
So if it’s on the control arm do I just leave it or change it?
Didn’t see you end up using the “sway bar mount tab” on coilover. I’m confused on how it is supposed to connect to the end links
Did you need spacers?
Edit: also I see you put the front top mount reinforcements in the with the rubber mount. You didn’t feel the need to use for the rear as well? Thanks
Wish it was standard to specify “driver side” or “passenger side” instead of just “left” or “right“
When dealing with repairs and car parts, the sides are constantly being referred to from the driver seat, so the left is always the driver (for us U.S. folks), and the right is always the passenger side. Hope that helps!
what are the benefits of stalling "coil overs", what is stock? thanks.
Better ride height and often times stiffer so less body roll in corners, basically just refreshes the suspension, better for older cars
did yall make a ride height video?
what coilover from bc racing should i get to daily and occasionally drift in
Great video. Can these be ordered with Swift springs?
Also @ 24:06 is that the correct orientation of the camber plate or is it supposed to be rotated 90 degrees? Thanks for a great video.
Yes they can be! And this is the proper orientation if you want camber adjustment
@@fcpeuro Thank you! Yeah, sorry I had the car oriented differently when I was looking. Thanks for the feedback and video.
How is the preload measured on the rear before mounting rear shock
Roughly 10mm of preload
Thanks for skipping the trunk liner removal part
I prefer raceworks. 3 yr warranty and nickel plated for $260 more!!!
Lifetime Replacement Guarantee no matter what brand you buy from us 😱😬
So I know that coilovers would normally be used to lower your car but how high could I theoretically get the bc racing coilovers?
U can make it tall af 😂 like i did
Would these fit on a convertible with the rear shock damper control?
yeah it does
Does any one have the parts number for the 3 bolts on each side? Or a link to where I can buy them
What bolts are you looking for, feel free to drop a time stamp. You can also visit bimmercat.com for any diagrams you may need and part numbers.
@@fcpeuro the three mounting bolts that go from the strut to the knuckle. I didn’t really specify 😅 it’s around the 5 min mark.

poor car is so rusted
so everybody installs coil over and nobody knows why they are supposed to be better ?? lol funny, classic "group think" mentality.
