I found out I didn’t have hep B antibodies when I started nursing school. I got the booster as well and then when I started my first job after graduation, I was retested as well and again came back a non-responder. I totally get the uneasy feeling.

Ashley!! This EXACT thing happened to me a couple of months ago! However, the patient I gave insulin to was super combative so that led to mine but omg so crazy how this can happen to us

I was a dental assistant for over a year (was let go for performance but also knew it wasn’t for me) before I decided to go back into the child development world after being out of child care for several years. While assisting, I accidentally stuck myself with a needle while trying to properly dispose of it. I don’t think my employer was as compassionate in my case as yours was with you.

@@glowingxlights9652 Go to an urgent care asap and get tested for hiv and Hep B! If you didn’t get the Hep B series get started on it asap! If you got the series as a kid, the immunity likely has already lingered out of your system. I had an immunity test done for it before I started the vaccine series over again. I didn’t even know you’re only immune for so long.

Interesting video! I never heard of "non-responders" to the Hep B vaccine

I feel you on the non-responder thing. I had the three course track as a child, when I entered the profession I found out I have 0 immunity to Hep B. Got a booster and when I was tested again 2 years later my immunity was back into the negative range so they had to give me a double strength booster so fingers crossed I stay immune this time haha.

A surgeon acquaintance of our family did die from Hep needle exposure. It really does happen.

i got prick during an ongoing case inside the OR but the needle was not yet used to the patient. I was loading it in the needle holder when it happened. i immediately removed my gloves and don a sterile one. Is there still any risk?

I work in the UK and have got a needle stick injury ..went to the hospital and took me 4 hrs waiting to see a GP and he said
we only take blood to save it from u and u shouldn't be afraid and no need to worry if the pt medical history is all good and hes a low risk ...now Iam still so scared and don't know what to do .should I request that the pt need also to have tests done ? For me its been few days and I don't think anything will show in the tests

I wonder if the 2 dose heplisav-b would work as a good booster for those who already had the 3 dose traditional hep b series.
