Many Chinese drama today are of low quality, they just shoot the video based on what the market wanted and did minimum research and coordinate logically.

I wish these kinds of series would have maps when they go deep into the geography. Most of the cities have changed names and lots of people don't even know what regions they are talking about.
This drama tried its best to recover the real history, even including the costumes and props. The drama director consulted many renowned historians (on Warrier States (Zhanguo) and Qin Dynasty) and absorbed some of the latest archaeological findings. The clothing, architecture, weapons, weaponry gears, policies, facial appearance and decorations reflect the best understandings of the Qin state and the later dynasty.
the qin series definitely try to put the audience in the view of the qin. No doubt that a lot of qin laws were strict and outrageous, but the common depiction of qin is similar to that of Cao Cao and how they're depicted as the bad guy. But they were all just warlords trying to survive. Chinese history always needed a bad guy to justify the mandate of heaven.
