- So I have noticed a lot of people hate GameStops trade values. These are some tips on how to get the most out of your trades. Sadly most employees wont tell you about this stuff. I hope this helps some of you understand how to take advantage of When and what to Trade for. I normally never sell to them unless they are running a promotion!

Best way to find out if Best Buy is having a promotion is by checking their weekly ad and check the video games section and it should tell you if they're having a promotion going on, like this week is 50% trade in bonus for games.
Just stop being lazy people and sell your games on Craigslist. You can make 2x - 3x as much as gamestop in cash

I don't really trust Craigslist but if I was to choose somewhere to meet I'd go to the police station because it's honestly really hard to trust people regardless if you meet in public.. Plus most people aren't genuine with what they sell lol.

I bought some power bricks for Xbox 360 s (16 exactly) each for $13 went to bunch of GameStop and was trading 4 at a time for $36 for each lmfao made me extra profit ended up buying xb1 with 3 games that was included + they had a promotion when u bought a Xb1 u get a extra controller for free and bought bunch of other things was the best investment I made...

I love going to pawn shops and buying games for $2-3 and walking into gamestop trading them to get much more than what I paid. That's how I got Gears of War 4. GOOD VIDEO AND TIPS
I think I just found a new favorite RUclipsr.
Also be aware that if you're discs are all beat up, you're going to get around half the normal value. I remember when I was working at Game Stop, I'd get ppl coming to trade in a ton of PSP games (back when we still took those). Very rarely did I see a PSP game disc in good shape. Most of them ended up going to the warehouse to be fixed - which meant we had to apply a fee.

I only trade at GameStop when I can work the bonuses. I traded my 250 GB 360 slim during a "trade towards this and get extra credit" promo which was able to stack with a hardware trade promo. Also, I took the HDD out and traded the base 4gb slim and the 250gb HDD separate. After all that crap, I got my xbone and Arkham Knight for $5 out of pocket. There's always a way to minimize the pain of trading at GS.

Also if you don't want gameinformer magazines you can tell them to make it electronic or don't and build a table out of the magazines
I used the app to get the trade-in values for Fallout 4, Witcher 3 & The Division... in total they would have given me $22. I used Gameflip & sold the games for $25, $20 & $23 respectably. They do take off $3 for shipping ( 2 day ) & a small fee of like $2 each depending on the sale price. So I ended up with $57; I wouldn't be going back to Gamestop for trade-ins and probably not even for games

A couple weeks ago I traded in my Madden and Pokemon game, and got a new nba 2k17 game and he still owed me 1 cent lol I knew pokemon heartgold was super valuable BUT I have it on an R4 card so I still have the game

I still have Heartgold though on my R4 so I can play it any time I want

I'll tell you what... the best way to play the system is to buy older games; if you haven't been keeping up for the last decade, there are tons of great games you'd probably enjoy that you'd otherwise pass up because it's "old". I game exclusively on PS3 right now, and I still have tons of games that I haven't finished or even played and really want to get around to. I have a huge stack of games, about 3 foot tall; games that are on my to-play list, and most of them cost $10 or less, with the exception of a few HD collections that usually go for like... $30+, which is way better pricing than any new game you could find on the market.
I suppose, if you have friends that want you to play the new games, I could see someone wanting them, but really if you want a game to just play and have a good time with friends, there are tons that are really cheap. As long as you like the genre and it has good local multiplayer, it serves the same purpose.
I pre-Ordered Pokemon Moon and I have a Basic Power Up Rewards Membership. I have about 12 PS3 games that I don't play and was thinking of trading them in and putting whatever I got towards my Pre-Order

I'm going today.. I have close to 50 PS3 games and I'm trading those for cash along with my PS3. And I heard that for my place they 20% more than they usually would anywhere else. I actually did the math to see how much I'd get out of it with the games and how much I'd get out of trading in my PS3. I finished all of my games and I have new game systems so my PS3 was put on the back burner for a long time and the games were useless because I beat them all pretty much as soon as I got them.

a few weeks ago I had like $70 in trade credit and heard I could put it on a gift card but when I asked them about it I was told i could only put it on a gamestop gift card.

I've also noticed that GameStop pays you more or less depending on the amount of copies they have of the game you're trying to trade in. For example, I decided to trade in my Splatoon copy because I never played it anymore. On the website it said they would pay me $30, yet when I traded it they gave me $40. But if they have numerous copies of a used game they'll pay you less. I also traded in Star Fox 64 which was supposed to be $20 returned to me but they gave me $15. So, I saw they had no copies of used Splatoon. And a few copies of Star Fox. Hope I could help!

Actually that Amazon and Ebay loophole was shut down in July. The POS no longer allows you to buy a gift card with a gift card (or trade credit) any longer.

I have a trick to get your scratched game changed to a non scratched. Buy the same game preowned at gamestop. Go in the car switch out the game. Drive to a other game stop and get a refund. There is 3 in a radius of 15km in my city. I did this trick several times.

GameStop gave me five dollars in trade in credit, for one of the Legend of Zelda games....a week after it was released. I beat the game in three days. Returned it a day or two later. I get five dollars. I paid like 50 for it.

I have never traded in my games at Gamestop or EB Games or anywhere for that matter, Maybe its different in the USA as apposed to Canada, But i can get far more online from places like Amazon or Ebay or even Craigslist.

I only buy 2 or 3 new games a year. For all other games I wait until their $20 or less. When I pay $20 or less for a game there's no point in even trading them in. So I have this massive backlog of games yet to play. I have enough games to last me 5 lifetimes. I still haven't played skyrim yet. I got it black Friday a few years back for $15 GOTY edition. I was caught up in Dark Souls at the time so I never got around to playing it. I'm just going to wait for Skyrim Remaster to go on sale black friday 2017.

Perhaps you could possibly answer this in a video. Why is it almost always impossible to talk to someone when you call GameStop customer service? Everytime I'd like to call to complain about something they have me on hold for a long time. I just give up & hang up the phone.

Usually only time i'm in Gamestop anymore is when they run the 4 for $10 deal which i don't think they've done this year it's mostly been 4 for $20 or $40.

Gamestop offered me a deal I couldn’t refuse.
I got $400 out of them in cash trading a bunch of shit that I never planned on using when they had a cash and credit is the same. These were all games at the time that held well in value that I knew most if not all of the titles would be price dropping soon. I literally cashed out on a bunch of Nintendo titles that actually hold their trade values, that I knew would be getting reprints of as greatest hits at some point. I took a gamble, but I was right. They're re-releasing everything for $20 new that was once $40+ used as their new nintendo selects aka greatest hits. In the end got all the titles I sold back that I wanted for less than $100 as there were only some, not all that I did want back. But doing that basically got me a free $230 fight stick to replace my shitty broken down HORI I had before, plus a year long PS+ card. Then I just bought the games I wanted back over the months.
But now that selects exist, nintendo games won't hold value at all so that trick won't work as well, and trust me, they were pissed giving me $400 in cash for what I was giving them. They actually made me wait because they didn't have enough cash in the register even. So now I'll only ditch my games I'll never touch again when they have the 50%+ extra credit on trade ins. I've gotten over $100 on some pretty random ass 360 titles from that. So that's probably the best bet for now to at least get some worth out of games with little value.

I mainly game on PC but I never really liked trading in stuff. I don't agree with the business model really. Nothing against the people who work there. I've had friends who worked there but I typically always buy new.
Anyways I've checked trade in values for a game before. Seen it was $17 (Fallout 4 awhile back ago). Anyways I noticed they will drop a lot of games trade in value before a promo. Then once the promo hits it brings it back to the normal level it would have been pre promo.
Back when I was a kid my family was pretty poor. Never really got games or consoles. Anyways it was a rare event. I had a stack full of games. I was also probably 8 years old at the time so I didn't fully understand how the value worked just figured a game was a game.
There was this Yugioh game I really wanted for PS1 (back when games where $40 new). I traded in every game I had and a few I really love but didn't really want to trade in. I got my Yugioh game tho. I was all happy and when I got home I looked at the ticket and noticed there was 3-4 games I only got $0.50 for which wasnt a problem but the guy took those games and also charged me $2.50 to resurface the games. So essentially the guy let me lose like $8 just to trade in those games. I mean hey it's only $8 but as a kid that $8 could have saved me the 2 games I really didn't want to trade in. Never really had a favorable view of the company since.
I have the app on my Samsung Note 4 (which I know you don't like, but like you, I also do not use apple). Anyway, I just picked up my preordered Gow4 Ultimate edition and I read somewhere that I was supposed to get $20 to use on a new game for the preorder and I want to use that towards my Titanfall 2 here in a few weeks, but I never got a code or anything. I think I need to call them today about it and ask.

+Gucci Modz yeah, a trade isn't an even exchange. You'll still have to pay money. But receipt isn't needed, if you want to exchange a game you need the receipt and it has to be within 7 days. It also had to be used

+Darrell Hutchison oh it was a gift from the Microsoft Rep when I worked at GameStop. I was the only Xbox guy in my store. All the other stores managers in our district were Playstation. So he would always bring me really cool stuff. He also only came in when I worked.

I shop at EB games (parent company is gamestop) they are always trying to sell me memberships or asking me to pay a couple of dollars extra to ensure if my " Blu ray disc fails" I will be given a replacement.
I only buy recycled at EB and that too if the after tax price is CAD 25 or under. Otherwise I take my money elsewhere

As a new entrant to the PS4 scene, I actually hold the advantage this time. I have bought all my games under 25 CAD from them. I got watchdogs 1 for 13 CAD yesterday.
Just browse their deals boxes and give their higher marked items the wide berth. The staff just loves me ;)
