Does Much Music still exist?> Back in the late 90's it was part of Basic Cable packages in the New York City area...awesome channel, MTV had stopped playing music years earlier, and VH1 was becoming more about reality shows as well. Canada had some dynamite songwriters and musicians getting appropriate exposure, like Chantal K. ...I moved out of state for a couple of years and when I returned Much was gone. ..And Music TV channels have been lame ever since
MuchMusic is essentially dead. It's a dumping ground for bad MTV programming. The 90s were what I refer to as the "golden age" of the station, a fact I never fail to bring up for the benefit of a friend who was the lead producer on most of their original live shows during that period.
The first time I heard this I was stunned with awe...deep haunting beautiful lyrics.. her voice is simply awesome. Then a few months later my husband died.. I now understand her pain and anguish....it's been 6 years and I'm still waiting... I was supposed to die first. Not him I have cancer and they gave me 18 months or less. I'm still waiting...
I'm still waiting.. it's 2023, I've been on chemo now since 2010. It's horrid and painful. But there's a reason I'm still here, I just wish I knew what it is....
I live in southwestern United States and because of satellite tv I was exposed to Canadian music through Much Music. Because of that Chantal and Our Lady Peace are apart of my childhood. They shaped my high school years and I’m thankful for that.
Cheers from Toronto. It’s sad that Americans never really experienced these bands. Especially The Hip. Chantal Kreviazuk wrote so many songs, they are hits now. Top bands. Her husband as well. Look it up. A Canadian treasure. Both are. Both in the US and Canada. Just look it up.
I saw her live at Barrymores in Ottawa in the late 90’s and everyone was singing this in the crowd and she left the stage because she was crying!! She was so moved and it was before she was super famous 😊
Same here. I heard "Surrounded" on the radio and I instantly loved it. I remember seeing a poll and this song was ahead of Surrounded as her fans' favorite. I couldn't believe she could top Surrounded but then I listened to the CD and got to this song. The string & piano solo are beautiful beyond words and the song really reaches its climax from that point to the end, with the stunning, layered vocals. I finally understood the poll. Wayne and Surrounded are still my two favorites of Chantal's songs.
Saw her in Canada in thee day of good music and I drunkly yelled for her to sing Lennons Imagine and she joked to me and sang it greatly................... Great talent !
Dostoyevsky in Karamazov, the tale of walnuts... A good deed done to a child in need is never forgotten, and perhaps one of the purest acts of goodness we can do. You can hear this message...
I loved this song-when I found out she was from my hometown of Winnipeg I was like really seriously someone that good is from here?? And her parents own Krevco pools and uncle is a philanthropist way to go!
Look at her catalog, search what songs she’s written for really famous singers from Canadian to huge American singers. You guys have no idea. She’s a big deal singer, song writer, one of the best but not many people realize that. She’s a Canadian treasure. One of the best ever. Cheers Chantal. Been a fan since Much Music. Her husband is from Our Lady peace. Raine Maida. Both amazing.
Hey my dear it's a pleasure to meet you here, I think you've got a beautiful smile on your face. may i ask if those are your natural hair and if Yes it's cute, hopefully we could be friends and get to know each other better..... where are you from?

When Canadian music was incredible. When Canadian female artists were the hottest women on earth. Missing the 90’s. Unbelievable she was . Still hot as hell!
I loved this song when it was a part of the Coca-Cola Countdown (how’s that for a blast from the past lol) and I still love it just as much twenty-something years later!
Anyone else notice the similarities between this video and Tori Amos's video for Spark, which came out a year later? Tori's video was clearly higher budget and is a fantastic clip and song in its own right, but I can't help but wonder if the director took some inspiration from this video. Sure there are some plot differences, but the number of similarities even in the more subtle details, seem like a lot to chalk up to mere coincidence.

I remember meeting Chantal when she came through UW's campus back in 1997 and did a great concert in our little venue. In all the commotion after the event, I never got to ask, who IS the strange lady with the big silly hair, after all?
Yes. 😶 But....we have to act on the transformative....don't stew. Believe me...I know. The physical act of getting up in the morning and doing shit is what gets you to the point where YOU define yourself...not the past. 💛
This is real music. Pianos, violins, drums and chantal singing her lungs out. Doesn't get any better than that.
I remember this song when Much Music was actually good back in 1997

remember
So do I. I was 15. I liked when MM had Pop Up Video and the live interviews with the musicians. Music channels are crap now.
@@JJ-wk5wy Even BPM TV was awesome and like most channels, they either disappear or change for the worse :(

Chantal I still get goosebumps hearing this

Natasha Farley it’s too bad all of the US wasn’t as lucky as you ... they missed out on some good stuff!
Funny you mentioned these bands.. Chantel and Raine from OLP are married to each other..
Both legends of Canadian music in my opinion. I played the first OLP tape so much it wore out. Yes TAPE!
Much More Music consistently had some of the best music!
Cheers from Toronto. It’s sad that Americans never really experienced these bands. Especially The Hip.

This song is fucking incredible.
DAMN, I had completely forgotten how amazing this song is, and Chantal's voice!
Canadian at it's finest.
one of the best chorus writers you will ever hear
Chantel makes me so proud to be from Winnipeg. An absolute legend.
204 Pegg city babby😎, we are HERE in 2020!!!
what about Brad Robert's?

For sure, such a powerful performance
Makes me cry every time
Beautiful song about a child dealing with death and loss. Very sad.
Canada's SWEETheart I am sorry I lost myself she helped bring me back with her music thank you Chantal ❤❤❤❤❤
One of the best songs and performances ever.
I never forgot this song
This whole album got me thru so much when she released it. I was a single father and man, would I play this song on repeat!
One of the best things ever created.
What a voice I heard she had a six octave range ..believable because she can reach high notes from low to high ...excellent songwriter
check out surrounded
This is what a real artist is folks.
I saw her live at Barrymores in Ottawa in the late 90’s and everyone was singing this in the crowd and she left the stage because she was crying!! She was so moved and it was before she was super famous 😊
I Am…..Wayne! He is me I Am him. We win in the end. You can be saved. I help souls like you. 😢
I always loved this song. It's so pretty. The chorus I could listen on a loop all day.
Love this song. I remember when it came out. Still one of my top 90s tunes to listen too:)
Great Songwriter and artist.
Aching vocals rife with tension, incredible choruses--Chantal can tell a tale with haunting impact.
I bought the album for 'Surrounded', but THIS one really grabbed me when I first heard it.
ellzedd4
Same. I think I listened to this song more than Surrounded.

This is the best song on the album.
When I was a lad I was in love with a bunch of different women who wore their Zeller's bras much like that
Beautiful 🥰
Saw her in Canada in thee day of good music and I drunkly yelled for her to sing Lennons Imagine and she joked to me and sang it greatly................... Great talent !
I still get the feels for this song. Her voice is just amazing.
Glorious tune ....epic singing ....can't get better than this.
Almost forgot a bout Chantel Kreviazuk...she has some great songs an lyrics... good to her her again...throw back early 90's...good times....BB
The contrast between voice and her video character, yet they are both powerfully vulnerable.
Wicked song Canadian beauty and all y love to humbolt Broncos

Dostoyevsky in Karamazov, the tale of walnuts... A good deed done to a child in need is never forgotten, and perhaps one of the purest acts of goodness we can do. You can hear this message...
I really like this song... I still don't get the video, but the lyrics are really good.
this is how Canadian music used to sound back in the day
Yes. Remember Jann Arden? I remember that summer of 1994 . . . the late 90s were such a weird time, especially to be living in Montreal . . .
Yep then nickleback had to come along and muck it all up.
They are totally our p. diddy
@mojo Statistics don't support your theory. ruclips.net/video/sIlNIVXpIns/видео.html
... not anything that reminds me of me. Beautiful.
damn I forgot how killer her pipes are
This song is so timeless!
I loved this song-when I found out she was from my hometown of Winnipeg I was like really seriously someone that good is from here?? And her parents own Krevco pools and uncle is a philanthropist way to go!

rest in peace to my brother Kyle Wayne 🖤
until then, wait for me 🎈
Me and a few friends JAMMED with her about a year ago here in PG .BC .canada
this is beautiful I love everything about this song!
Incredible
just lovely.
I think maybe the video represents loss, and feeling lost, and perhaps attempts at salvaging memories and physical representations of those memories.
A TRUE CANADIAN GODDESS saw her live in Saskatoon it was I can't describe it was that good
One of our best no question. She can write and my God she can sing

Hey my dear it's a pleasure to meet you here, I think you've got a beautiful smile on your face. may i ask if those are your natural hair, maybe we could get to know each other better..... where are you from?
I remember this video vividly when I was little, and I found it so odd a lady was writhing in a car with someone putting clothes on the floor.
I remember meeting Chantal when she came through UW's campus back in 1997 and did a great concert in our little venue. In all the commotion after the event, I never got to ask, who IS the strange lady with the big silly hair, after all?
good song but it brings back a lot of bad childhood memories.
Yes. 😶 But....we have to act on the transformative....don't stew. Believe me...I know. The physical act of getting up in the morning and doing shit is what gets you to the point where YOU define yourself...not the past. 💛
love your music
i thought it was Wane but I just love the way she sings it
Did it get any hotter than Chantal Kreviazuk in this video in 1997??? I submit that it did not!!!🔥 Great song too!!
