- Bono, The Edge, Adam and Larry talk about their tenth studio album, All That You Can't Leave Behind, in this behind the scenes video made for the original release in 2000. Produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno and recorded in Dublin and France, the album went to Number 1 in 32 countries and won 7 Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album. It's the only album in history to have multiple tracks win the award for Record Of The Year - 'Beautiful Day' in 2001 and 'Walk On' in 2002. All That You Can't Leave Behind has been newly remastered and expanded for a 20th anniversary reissue in 2020.

This was by far their strongest album for me. Every song grabbed an emotion from me, every song had meaning in my life. Shit, there’s Nothing better then a rock n roll song that helps you live a better life!

Love Bono’s quote “head in the clouds and feet in the mud”! That means they are grounded, yet still a big flighty 😉
The more I listen closely to this album, the more it becomes one of their best. Songwriting wise they hit the motherload really. They did the right thing after all the experimental stuff and the fact that they realized they needed to get back to writing in the classic songwriting vein is somewhat genius. Probably deep down their last truly great album. I don't know what they should do next but probably getting back with Daniel Lanois and Eno would be a good start.

Eno and Lanois were responsible for the choked sound of this album. Plus the absolutely dull as ditch water No Line On The Horizon. SOI & SOE are my favourite U2 albums in YEARS. Why ? No Eno & Lanois.
My personal favorite of theirs too and I think HTDAAB is their last great album, but ATYCLB is definitely on another tier. One of the greatest ever created IMO. Won't ever get tired of hearing it

‘Original of The Species’ was supposedly around during the Achtung Baby/Zooropa time period.
U2 music is Beautiful 💓. I have had a special connection with each album through Songs of Innocence. The tour of this album was unique because it was more simple. And I LOVED their live take of the song, The Fly, on this tour.

My appreciation for this album continues to increase. It's just as relevant now as it was 20 years ago. The songs are beautiful. U2 is brilliant!
I remember my mum always playing this record growing up. Very formulative album for me.
I was in deep deepest depression around this time. I replayed" it's a beautiful day " over and over. I swear it saved me from something bad
When this album came out it pulled me off the ground and put my head above the cloud that was shrouded by a love lost. It gave me hope for a new beginning. How amazing U2 were to achieve something so sonically beautiful that it can make you find peace in your heart again.

What a beautiful album, I love kyte, stuck and beatiful day the most, but there are also pieces of wonder such as wild honey, peace on heart, and the smooth and tender grace and in a little while so intimate and deep..I can't choose the best in it, every song is a masterpiece🌟❤

Yes sure that's why we celebrate this album. All the songs was great and for me the best of the 2000's era. I also love their latest but that album had something that I can't describe. I just really love it.

One of their best, right up, there with War and The Joshua Tree. This album literally helped save my life when I had cancer in 2001. I’d listen to it every time I had chemo. And then 9/11 happened. The Elevation Tour in Nov 2001 remains the best concert I’ve ever seen. It was a communal grieving, and then healing. It was incredible.

I was born in February 2001 but for me this album is extremely important. I grew up with it and I remember dancing to Beautiful Day in front of the TV as a small child. It's hard to explain how this album somehow makes up a part of me. It feels like the 2000s and therefore like a part of me.

I've been a huge U2 fan since "The unforgettable fire" album, and as a fan I've got to recognize that is a shame we don't get this master piece albums from them, it seems they found their comfort zone from the las 3 or 4 albums.
However I cannot wait for the "Achtung baby" anniversary tour, for me, one of the most important album in rock history, it would be great U2 don't be afraid to risk and give us new sounds, new ideas that blow our minds, like they used to.
Well said, though I did find a few gems in their last few albums. It's hard to be brilliant all the time, so can't be hard on them. I love their sound and lyrics, which is more than can be said for bands that have come out in the last 15 years.
I love your idea of the Achtung Baby anniversary tour. It would be nice to see Bono dress up like The Fly, Macphiesto or mirrorball man again. For me, Bono is very hot when he incarnate those character. In fact, he is always sexy and I love him so much.
Overall I'd agree, but songs like The Crystal Ballroom, Sleep Like A Baby Tonight, Invisible, The Blackout and Light of Home, do demonstrate they are trying some different sounds and techniques. Not many bands close to their 60s are going to be reinventing themselves, yet their tours have been increasingly more creative, they've started playing some rare tracks and Bono brought back McPhisto etc..

Such a great album. They really landed after an experimental 90s and a hectic 80s. They matured with this album and stepped into a statesmanship.
