I feel like people had the same question about the Lions last year though. “Are they getting too much hype?” Because a lot of people had them as favorites to win the North & saying they were a team to watch out for, due to them finishing the 2022 season so good. There were expectations last year and they delivered. Obviously higher expectations this time around, but I’m not sold on them declining much
The Lions are not regressing, people just think so because “it’s the Lions.” NO ONE ever gives a solid reason why they are going to regress They’ve improved all three years under Campbell. They were ahead of schedule last year making it as far as they did. Following their training camp, they haven’t let their heads get big at all. All the talk and the motto is “it takes more.”
Yall did not do your homework for this topic!!! First. Nick Sirianni was removed from all play calling 2.5 years ago because the offense was too vanilla. There was zero pre snap motions and hot reads for the quarterback. The Nick Sirianni wanted Jalen to do 60 percent QB read options which led to Jalen running more than throwing. Sirianni offense was based on Jalen running more in order for the linebackers and safeties to cheat. This will leave Brown and Smith one on one with single high help. This would led to more vertical throws. What happened last year around week 8. Defensive coordinators started noticing that philly offense only lined up and did not throw the ball in the middle of the field anymore. Defenses noticed that there were zero adjustments and window dressing. They started to blitz Hurts religiously. Nick was so stubborn that with his offensive scheme... that Jalen had no hot reads in order to back the blitz off. Also, there was no routes for the middle of the field. That is why if you look at Jalen QB attempts 90 percent of them where on the left and right side of the field not the middle. Also.. Sirianni wanted Jalen to have the option of QB keeper up the middle for a big gain... that is why there were zero routes up the middle as well. It took ownership a while for them to make a decision because they needed to gather all the information before making drastic decisions. The decision was to strip Sirianni of all play calling duties... he did not have any say so with the offensive and defensive coordinators this time around. What Nick Sirianni did to go around Ownership/Team decision was last year... he upgraded these less experience offensive and defensive coordinators as figure heads... but Nick was making the play calls on offense. That was the frustration with the team last year. The issue was not Hurts... The issue was the broken trust and relationship between coaches and players... Jalen reached out to Wink for advice... because Nick had zero answers for the blitz before the playoff game. Moore is a much better fit to Jalen Hurts development. I truly believe Hurts is going to have a MVP year. He is killing it in the 10 practices. Again... The Ole Ball Coach Bill is waiting... and guess what??? Jalen already have a relationship with Coach Billy B... because he use to kick it with the players in Tuscaloosa with Saban.
