One thing I love about this channel is that Carson never tires to cover up mistakes, he just tells us the story exactly as it happened, that shows a deep and honest connection with the community ❤️
yeah that's right
in my opinion, don’t get a snapping turtle unless you can provide a huge pond for them in the future. they grow huge and are super aggressive at a young age so they will need to be separated which takes up more supplies and equipment. they are cool nonetheless but huge menaces
I agree, they're a very demanding turtle species. A good substitute would be a common or razorback musk - similar head shape/strong jaws, in a less aggressive and much smaller package.
Depends on the type but I fully agree with this varying on species
He can handle it, he has a huge backyard where he can build a snapping turtle enclosure in the future
MightyDude11 not saying he can’t, he’s actually one of the few good youtube pet keepers and i’m sure whatever he does will be great. i’m just saying a snapping turtle isn’t the best pet, especially in the long run. but hey he can do whatever he wants it’s not my business ya know
When I saw the thumb nail and title I was expecting the glass to be broken but I'm glad that did not happen.
Same
Carson I think you should do a big above tank basking area for max water volume and because it doesn’t take space in the tank or doesn’t float
You could have not recorded this at all, just quietly fixed it, and we would think everything was perfect from the start. You didn't do that, and my admiration for you just went through the roof. It takes a brave person to admit when they have made a mistake. I know the next one will be brilliant. Keep up the great work!
So bummed, it looked so good! But I have no doubt you’re going to make it even better this time. You’re always so honest with your subscribers, and you’re always trying to stay on the bright side! Thanks for being the best RUclipsr!!
I wouldn't recommend using live plants in there as the small amount of light coming from the turtle bulb will not sustain them.
i would recommend using silicone to secure the retaining wall and making an above ground basking area to maximize the water volume.
Carson is the best at making videos when it comes to fish, MOST ENTERTAINING AND DETAILED!!!!
but yeah
That filter and the 40 model of it are my favorite!!!
Appreciate you always keeping it real and showing the things that go wrong too.
Here is a tip. If you want to make the rock wall try using more gravel and tilt the rocks so they don't fall backwards.use foam under the large rocks just in case
Love from Pakistan
Use above tank basking area for more swimming space
I was think you could use that white egg crate and make a little box and use it like you used the pond foam and maybe put some filter media in it to help with the cycling, just an idea
Carson, I would recommend you to drop the idea of live plants in turtle tank
Turtles like to dig and they will definitely throw out all the Live plants you'll put in there... Also do no use so huge rocks, as they might crush them.. you need to make sure gravel is either big enough that it will not fit in his mouth or so small that it will not get blocked in his digestive track once swallowed...
I think he knows what he’s doing he’s been doing this for years
Maybe you can use some egg crate light diffuser, make like a little structure that you can put the rocks on top so it would be sturdy? I have seen people use zip ties to hold the egg crate light diffuser together :) I am excited to see what you come up with!!
I took a Home Depot bucket and drilled holes all in the bottom and sides of it for rinsing rocks for the tanks, made life alot easier
It would be so incredibly Kool if you would fill the water to the top and make a turtle topper. Your tanks are absolutely beautiful when you're done. This one definitely needs a topper.👍
I agree about making an awesome above tank basking area. You will need the full 40 gallons for all of those turtles. The old design looked great but didn’t hold up. I think a great above tank design would look awesome too, as well as be great for the turtles.
Carson makes you hype to see his videos and I'm always at the edge of my seat waiting for another one.
I could not wait for this video in the past months!!!!!!!!!
if you are going to be covering it up, just use the regular spray foam. that stuff sticks to glass like crazy. pond foam is best when it has the potential of being exposed
Good to know. Thanks dude!
all good g, bounce back! you’ll come back with a great tank as always
You could place large rocks or bricks within the foam as you spray it. That way you add weight to the foam and you use less foam but it will still weigh less than a ramp made entirely of gravel and/or sand.
more sand, less live plants, if you do use live plants make sure they are hardy and safe for turtles, more room, bigger tank, above tank basking, etc.
He said he was going to add one In the video
Sorry that sounded rude, no intentions of that only wholesome vibes from me
Use egg crate to make a box tie it together with zip ties then wrap in a Geo textile fabric from Lowe's or Home Depot. This allows you to keep the water volume but also make your basking area Tanner of Sepa design has lots of great vids on it
Using egg crates would help to fill the area
Me today: COME ON carson didnt post!!!!!!
5 minutes later : My feed: 48 seconds ago
Use can use silicone to hold that in.
You can use a big piece of bog wood for the basking
Oh god I love stupid mistakes like this, and I love showing it off even more! This is an oversight I would 100% make and thank you for showing so others can avoid. And it looked so darn good... XD
I was gonna use expandable foam but because of you I am saved!!!
Wonder if it would work better if you sprayed a small layer of foam and then put some big rocks on top of the foam and then add foam again to top it off. would think that would hold it down.
hey, i think this unfortunate situation might be a bit of a sign, 4 baby turtles in one tank is just kind of a lot, they need a lot more room, and the live plants really aren't it for turtles either. i love your channel, just trying to give some friendly advice
I agree! You also need better filtration for that amount of turtles in one tank. They produce a lot of waste, a 20 gal filter is not sufficient.
Empty the tank and silicone the foam in place.
Sorry this didn't work out. They usu make floating docks from pond foam so makes sense that it floats. Live plants with turtles are great if you are willing to give them expensive food lol. Maybe your smaller turtles won't be as bad as my 14 yr old RES. I can't put anything in her tank that I don't want/expect her to eat. She will try/will eat everything including fake plants, real plants, fish, plecos, smaller turtles, snails, etc. So I only put turtle-safe plants occasionally (she's eaten $20 worth in a day), cheap fish, and large rocks bigger than my hand. Good luck with your redesign of turtle tank!
Use egg crate to levitate the basking area, try to get it as high as possible, more swimming space the better…
The tank looked badass im so bummed that happened but next time you should add more plants to add more green
I advise you to use a canister that is set for an aquarium above 40gal to maximize the filtration. Internal filter is not recommended, too small for beneficial bacteria to grow especially for four turtles. Unless you do water change every day, then it's up to you.
I have never had success planting hornwort. I just let it float.
Hi Carson thanks for the amazing videos
Just drain it and glue it down
Thanks for not scraping the video and using it as a learning opportunity.
this looks awesome! im sure you can fix it
You should put a cave under the basking area. It will use the space under there, and also be a place for them to hangout.👍😃
Hey man, sorry to hear that. That stinks. But I love your channel. You got me into aquatic animals and turtles. I’m going to buy myself a yellow belly slider turtle as my first aquatic animal. Can’t wait to get it this weekend. Love your videos man! Very informational too!
Great video carson! These things happen my friend but at least you where open and honest with all of us. The tank did look amazing mate
Use the stuff that you used for your fish tanks lids I think it’s called like egg crate or the light diffuser
Been waiting for something to watch this morning and then pop Carson pops up always a good day
Morning? Im in poland so its 8pm for md
Might can still use that structure you made. Try putting it in your pond outside & see what size rock you could place on top to weight it down. Love that you show your screw ups too.🙂
I think if you put some rocks on bottom of foam that would have helped alot
You should use epoxy to stick the rocks together and to the tank.
Carson you made me buy 2 turtles you Are one of my favorite RUclipsr
Highly recommend a significantly stronger filter. 4 turtles in a 40 gallon is going to obliterate that filter and the water conditions will be horrendous.
Nah It won’t I have the filter in my 40 gallon with 4 mid turtles
Poor mud turtles😑
That hornwort iz gonna tankbover that tank
Sorry about the tank Carson #RIPTurtleTank
Can I recommend using a wayyyyy stronger filter. Especially with 4 turtles, Water quality can go south real quick otherwise keep doing you. Love the videos
YESSSS, POST NOTIFICATIONS FOR THE WIN!!
The tank looked great before the disaster.
That’s so sad. It looked great. Keep your head up man. I love your videos!
Carson you're alright.
If at first you don't succeed, try again, and again, and again.
Loved your video.
Live and learn homie
Use silicone instead. Pet Supplies Plus sells some aquarium safe stuff. You just can't use the silicone like you did to make a ramp. You'll probably just have to make an actual gravel ramp.
Hi Carson you are the best RUclipsr I've ever seen and you inspired me to start my own fish tank
I love the vids Carson this is my favorite channel to watch, because their is always great content and always love to see what you do next
It’s okay Carson we know you’ll fix it all up and make a great turtle tank scape
So what i have seen is that if you put silicone on the glass first then put foam on that, it will stay.
It’s going to look beter the next time
Also nice video stuff happens you did your best I think next time it will look even better.
It looked so good 🤧💔
we live and learn bro, keep up the good work!! love your vids 🔥🔥🔥

Hey bro, how do u keep your tanks clean of hard water buildup? I’ve done the scraper and vinegar trick but it only got 60% of it off … I call it the ring around the tank conspiracy 😂😂
I’ve had some baby red eared sliders for about 4 days and one of em hasn’t eaten a single pellet, what do I do
eat it
You could try something live like a worm or cricket because it might make it more interested. Maybe frozen blood worms might work too. Just try new things. Good luck
Hey man no need to freak out just follow these few steps, be sure they're tank is the right temp and set up correctly. Next feed them separately in small bowls. I would buy them hatching formula pellets to start but also offer them blood worms. If they're both hatchlings split the bloodworm cube in half and have them share it as well as 5-10 pellets each. I would leave them in bowls for about 15 to 30 minutes each feeding. After about two weeks they should be able to start learning to eat from the tank. It's also important to insure your turtles are getting enough calcium in their diet for their shells.
Damn this is a real bummer at least we learnt the lesson
Ahhhh bro I'm so sorry I loved it.
When you try to do a plant montage but the fish get in the way
Use silicon instead of foam to glue stuff together. Foam is a pain to work with in tank settings because it floats. Hope your second attempt works out for you.
Aw that’s terrible but every day is a learning experience keep up the good work I love your channel 🐢
New upload 👀😆
If you silicone that big monstrosity of foam to the bottom it might hold it in
Be a rock and hold it down 😤💯✊
the foam was a great Idea…..you should have put some slabs into the top of the foam
It’s sad to see him slowly turn into a Paul cuffaro
Hi Carson I like to watch you videos I have a baby turtle but no fish I like to fry fish and cook them though
Every one makes mistakes just learn from them even the shops and breeders makes mistakes
Hey Carson thanks for the message me and my cousins love ur videos pls keep the good work up ⬆️ and hope this could be comment of the day
I think you can just use that foam on some heavy flat rocks so as to keep it sinking in the water and then try to setup the tank with the same idea ..
Let me know if this idea helped you or not?!
Whats up Carson
Sorry it didn’t work out! I thought it had great potential!
Hey Carson if you want a snapping turtle I have a juvenile about the size of my hand… I have been trying to rehome him, if you are interested.
Hi Carson!
i have a turtle but i don't know the name can u help me with that carson??
Just Use sand instead of foam and mix some wood with it
Hey bro live and learn now I know not to use foam don’t feel bad about it bro.
Don't scrub rocks for turtles there's bacteria that can be helpful for them
Dude use white egg crate wrapped with mesh so nothing go through it
silicone it to the glass
Carson I could use your help
