  • Perspectives Ensemble's Dark Eyes/New Eyes -- A Journey in Armenian Music features parts 7-9 of From a Far Off Country by Eve Beglarian. Originally written for cellist Maya Beiser (who can be heard here on tracks), the work is performed in a new version with Ara Dinkjian, oud; Bridget Kibbey, harp; Sato Moughalian, flute; Nina Stern, recorder; Steven Hackman, laptop; percussionists John Hadfield and Shane Shanahan. Visual art by Kevork Mourad. Performed live at Judson Memorial Church in New York City, May 16, 2013.
This concert was made possible through the generous support of the Jarvis and Constance Doctorow Family Foundation, Jarvis Doctorow, and Robert & Suzanne Larson in celebration of the life of Danièle Doctorow. Perspectives Ensemble is deeply honored to be the recipient of this year's Danièle Doctorow Prize.
Additional support is generously provided by the Hegardt Foundation, and Judson Arts, Michael Conley, Director, as well as the NoMAA General Operating Support Re-Grant Program made possible by JPMorgan Chase Foundation and the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation. Dark Eyes/New Eyes is made possible, in part with public funds from the Fund for Creative Communities, supported by New York State Council on the Arts and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
