Hello my dear friend Whitney, I'm so happy to see you, you are both doing so well, also working very hard and living the best life in nature. If we were neighbours I'd be over to your house to help out any way I could. Here in Ireland the cost of living got so high that we became a little bit like preppers growing and storing food, not using as much electric as much as we can and just keeping food and warmth going. It's not as cold here , I think it reached -8 Celsius for a few days last week and we felt it. Have you ever seen four little candles lit under terracotta clay pots upside down , I saw a video of it and people here have tried it and it seems to warm up a room to a good temperature. I'm so glad to see you are both doing good, love the music and songs, the bread making and mushroom, blueberry picking, gosh I missed your wonderful videos. We have tried the teracotta heater when we tried to survive in the caravan with freezing tempratures, for us it did not work at all hahah😂 but this heater we now have, is absolutely amazing if you dont have a fireplace (yet)

I would create a much larger surface area on all the water catchment systems (including your Well Top). Also! I would create a Fresnel Lens Area for melting snow. You can have a catchment for snow and aim the Sun-Magnification of the Fresnel Lens to melt the snow into your Well, (which you can shovel into the path of the sun's rays.) I have not tried this. But I am just inventing a possibility right this moment. I might be 1/4. Cherokee Indian, but I am 3/4 German. And you know how we love to invent things. LOL

Not sure if you have already insulated under your roof added energy efficient Windows Etc? I know you're still working on the place . I'm glad it looks like you found a kerosene heater that works. There's a lot of them here too in the US as well as propane heaters that are small. Sad that you had to put up a gate but some people I guess don't have boundaries. You might need to put up some no trespassing signs? I don't know if they do that where you live. There are some people in the United States that would not think too kindly if people trespassing on their property and we do something a little bit more vigorous than building a gate. Hopefully that will solve your problem!
Mrs F. Here. Hej Hej from Jamtlands. :) We have snow here too and nighttime temps as far as minus twentyseven to date, though most nights it hovers around minus twenty. I would trade your home for ours in a heartbeat. We have central heating which we cannot afford to use, our last monthly bill being almost five thousand kronor, and rely on one open fire for heat. But, I'm Scottish and grew up in the Highlands where in my childhood, winters were similar to here and we had no central heating in a crofthouse which also had no indoor toilet and no indoor water until the mid seventies. :) I miss those days, and miss the isolation and peace of living in the middle of nowhere. You live a very rich and beautiful life. Season's Greetings to you both.

I know it is very hard to keep above water with all these prices now! I love the simplicity even if it is very hard from time to time. I notice i enjoy the heat, and all the small things much more❤ it also takes me more out of my head and connected to the here and now😊

To live in north and in the middle of forest you must be real preppers ☝️And in the middle of economical tornado(you will see prices even higher for everything)you must have all tools to make everything for warm through winter, food water , gold, silver, guns, knives, fishing equipment, medical equipment, car, fuel..... And God protection 😤
