    This was my first purchase as a beginner enthusiast. I can see why it's recommended so highly honestly. I did have my emitter swapped to a FFL505A 3700k rosy bin and I love it.
    Your videos are a great resource for me as a beginner. I may try dedoming a 519a that I have in my FFL P01, it looks so simple when you do it!
    Thanks for all your videos Cheule and keep doing what you're doing. 👍🏻

    If only the big hardware stores sold THIS for $19.99 instead of the junk they sell now.

      I assume there is a lot of retail overhead, and the savings is by going direct to the Chinese manufacturer?

      @@cheule That's above my pay grade, but I'd imagine that the profit margin on the junk is higher for the hardware stores because they are cheap parts assembled with cheaper labor.

    Your episode featuring the FC11c has been pretty much enlightening and illuminating to me! 😀🔦🔆
    I just received my black FC11c today and I paid about the equivalent of US$20 from the official Wurkkos store on Lazada (it's a popular shopping platform in SE Asia). It had the very nice dark blue color for a short while and was sold out by the time I decided to buy this flashlight. I was told that the dark blue edition was released on Father's Day in limited quantities and Wurkkos may release it on Father's Day next year. 😑
    I'm wondering why the SST20 and SST40 emitters that Sofirn buys from Luminus get plenty of bad rep from flashlight enthusiasts. Does Sofirn intentionally source cheaper SST40 LEDs from the bottom of the bin, or getting is one with a perfectly white color is a just being plain lucky? My only three Luminus LED equipped lights with zero traces of yellow-green hue is a 6000-6500K Wurkkos FC12 and TS11 (SFT40) and a Sofirn SC31T (SST40).
    On the other hand, the 5000K SST40 in my second SC31 Pro yields an ugly strong yellow-green hues (ugh!) at low output levels. It's only on High and Turbo that the beam becomes a neutral white with a very slight yellowish tint, which is acceptable to me. Now when I turned on the FC11c I was amazed at the Nichia 519a's true neutral white tint. This LED is really miles apart from the 5000K SST40. I also like its slightly pinkish warm tint which reminds me of professional LED home and office lighting. Having said that, I'm wondering if de-doming the 5000K SST40 will make it less yellow and throw a bit farther.
    On the subject of buck circuit drivers, I'm aware they are more efficient compared to FET drivers. Other than a price difference a 100 lumen difference on Turbo, when would a regular FC11 flashlight be more preferable to the FC11c? 🤔

    • @cheule
      @cheule  Месяц назад +1

      The issue with zoomies is that they don’t product a hotspot and spill. They’re either hotspot or spill. In use, it’s great to put the hotspot on what you’re looking at, and the spill provides situational awareness and helps with target acquisition.

    How safe or dangerous would you consider these? Ive been afraid of these lithium-ion lights for a few years now because I cannot educated myself on everything one need to know and understand about li-ion cells.
    Would it really be wise to be gifting these to people who arent even going to consider literally anything about li-ion cells and safety/danger.
    People who will just take for granted and use it thoughtlessly like any and all the other rechargeable device in our lives?
    Or is this thing pretty dumb proof meaning I finally get a super light again?

    Can't wait for an Anduril version, and maybe some kind of 21700 take on this concept as well (the sofirn parts bin already has a 21700 buck driver for the SP35 that rocks).

    How's the parasitic draw on this light? I've had electronic switch lights that had really bad parasitic draw in the past and since then I've always been worried about that.
    Also, does the 20mm TIR Simon sells fit this light? This would be very nice with a TIR.

    I want to collect flashlights, but always give up after hours of hunting. Every time I found a light this size there is something wrong with it... either non-removable battery, not 5000K, not 18650, too big, or too expensive. This one is darn close!

  • @geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz
    @geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz Месяц назад +1

    I wonder would it be possible or worth it to have some kind of mechanism that could switch the dome in and out to create a sort of zoom thing? Might be useful in lots of lights? Probably at the expense of more bulk to accommodate whatever mechanism. Just a thought.

    • @cheule
      @cheule  Месяц назад +2

      Might be too subtle of a change for the complexity of doing it. What's very effective and done commonly is having a dual channel light that can switch between two sets of emitters: ruclips.net/video/VeP9iX0_vhU/видео.html

    • @geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz
      @geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz Месяц назад

      @@cheule The Hank dual channel lights do seem a good idea. A simpler way might be just to have the dome attached to a removable/exchangeable part in the head, for example that white plastic part that was centering the emitter with the reflector? That could be worth having for single emitter lights perhaps and not to difficult to implement? I guess it could work for multi emitter lights also. Just another option and more the merrier.

      Wurkkos is basically a company that kit-bashes parts from the sofirn factory into better lights than sofirn offers.
      So you get a condition where the parts are sitting on shelves, sofirn just has to assemble them for wurkkos.
      The raw BOM cost of most flashlights is really low. Add to that, some subsidized industries in China such as shipping industry etc.
