There is an article on WhatsApp, distributed by a Yoruba woman that is a Professor in the US. She wrote an extensive explanation of the how the Yoruba word was given to our ancestors.
The years 1800s are too early to conclude on the history of the Yoruba, because the Yoruba ancestors had been in existence before the 1800's. Also the Europeans and the Fulani were invaders who had an ulterior motives. History had revealed that most of the history records authored by the two vultures, about the indigenous people, were self-serving to them, and demeaning to the indigenous people.
Thank you for all the hard work you are doing you are highly appreciatediated.
Thank you sir. Mo dupe lopolopo
The word Yariba started in 1800 and that’s is what was discussed in this video.
@@abinibihub go through your samuel johnson again.
the yariba location on the map was where the oranyan army had problems. then they settled there for a while and started their expansion strategy westward (ilorin and the rest of yoruba land.

Good analysis, well done.
I have always believed there is a lot we can learn about Yorubas from Mali and their numerous documents
A pointer: Please have you considered the Bariba and the meaning, I suspect it may help give a hint regarding Yariba, since and they have been age old neighbours.
Thank you for the gift. I promise to explore every aspect of our culture. Together, we’ll promote the positives and set aside what doesn’t align.
Samuel Johnson ni Sah! Koin se Jackson oh! E carry go sah! I love how you are using old maps. It says a lot.
I acknowledge that there was an error, which I rectified during the editing stage.
@@abinibihub Thanks for taking the time to reply. I really enjoy your program and am impressed with your reference to old maps. It shows a lot. Thank you!

The pronunciation is wrong and interpretation is wrong as YARIBA
We are the tribe of 'YOORU' 'YOOBA' which means Making sacrifices, and being accepted.
Our forefathers were used to sacrifices.
God bless you with more knowledge.

We missed ur interview with hunters
Soon.
Well done brother. It's actually called Eye o (Bird O)
Please explain this
@abinibihub E-ya -oba corupted to Yoba -Yoruba. Eyaoba means the tribe of the king(Aalafin) That's why they used referred to old Oyo empire people as Yoruba. In the first western Nigeria newspaper many years ago stated Iwe iroyin fun awon Egba, Ijebu, Ekiti ati Yoruba(Oyo)
Uhmmm
There was no newspaper like iwe iroyin Egba, Ijebu, Ekiti ati Yoruba. The newspaper was Iwe oriyin Egba ni Yoruba. It was mistranslated by some people. We still have a copy in our library.
@larrykings_speak_out where is your library. I will love to visit and thanks for the clarification

You are calling Rev Samuel Johnson "omokunrin yii". The name is not even Jackson, it is Johnson. You need more research. Rev. Samuel Johnson was a Yoruba man, though an Anglican clergy. Not just a Yoruba man, he was an Oyo man, and a descendant of Alaafin Abiodun. He witnessed some of the wars in Yoruba land, and was an emissary of Alaafin Adeyemi I.
I don’t see Rev in the book I read. You are right about the name. Why are you more concern about the rev. Not the message. Anyways thanks for the corrections.
I said he was born in Freetown S. Leone. This video is not totally about him.
E ku ise takuntakun.

Beni. We speak the same language and believe in the same orisha but there is no uniform name till mid 19th century.
@@abinibihub I have a sister who always argue this with me, but it has always been my stand till date. I will share your video with her in case she finds it interesting.
@akinyelebalogun thanks.
It was jihad that threw yorubas out of middle east cos of their refusal to reliquish idolatry.
Their city yathrib or YARIB was changed to Medina when they left
