Zeos, I need to hear it from you. I plan on getting the Gungnir Multibit this week. Is the Mjolnir a good route for powering my HD 600’s and 660 S’? I will likely get nice planars in the near future as well, but I am hoping to stop at one amp that does all with a tube-ish sound.
I should have mentioned, I currently have a Jotunheim Multibit and I got a Modi 2 after the fact for use with a Nintendo Switch. I am satisfied with the sound of the Multibit DAC’s over the DS in the Modi, so that’s why I am getting the Multibit version of the Gungnir. I love the power and sound of the Jotunheim but it is so revealing (not exaggerated) that artists like Eva Cassidy are harsh because of the recordings themselves. I love certain artists that require a little more of a smoother, warmer sound. So I want to eliminate the most digital-ness that I can but without any compromise for the imaging and detail that I desire. By research the GungnirMB seems like it will have an impact on that to give me the sound I want, but a hybrid tube amp (which conveniently matches the Gungnir) seems like it may help even more, and if it overall has a better sound specifically for my HD 600’s and 660’s then it’s the answer to my prayers and what I need. Otherwise I was considering holding out to get a balanced Woo Audio amp but that costs a lot more than I was hoping for, so at least for a good while the Mjolnir will do what I want. That of course is assuming it will give me those sound characteristics.
Are you going to get a Mjolnir 3 and review it at any point? There's a severe lack of videos about it even after a year or so of it being out and most people say it's absolutely fantastic.
Mjolnir 2. It's the much better amp. For something more like the darkvoice's sound I recommend the tor Roger or nick. Or a bottlehead crack. The darkvoice is cheap for a reason. It's not built that well and has hum problems and the circuit is not very complete.

Power conditioners are life savers in some situations. Sometimes it is a printer that does not behave, or a computer crashing, or the mic preamp doind something odd to phantom power. Does not have to cost a ton, does not have to be 19" rackmount with racklights and ABB circuit breaker, just has to be at ones disposal for troubleshooting.
Good timing. Currently in the market for a new Amp and DAC to replace my Creative SoundBlaster X7. So many choices out there. Was considering this set up from Schitt or the Questyle CMA 12 or if the Drop THX AAA comes back within the next month or so. As for headphones, I have the HD600 and plan on getting the LCD-2C or the Ether CX from Drop.
The Mjolnir is fantastic. I would run and hide from Questyle products because their customer service is utter ass(my unit has been there for over 3 months and I haven't heard back in 2 months). If you're looking for a tube amp for planars, this is for you
They aren't the same thing at all. This is if you want tubes for hard to drive planars. If you only have dynamics the 789/darkvoice could be better, I personally only have planars and this is an amazing combination.

No, the JDS Labs Atom is cheaper and likely orders of magnitude cleaner. It also has more than enough power for those HP's
