- "How awful does a lady have to be in order to halt a man's advances online? That's what one woman wanted to find out when she created what she dubbed "the worst online dating profile ever."
Alli Reed, a Los Angeles-based comedy writer for outlets including Man Cave Daily and Maxim magazine, created an OkCupid profile for a contemptible alter ego with the sole purpose of seeing men reject her existence.
"Honestly, I've never had that bad of an experience on OkCupid, I've gone on a lot of great first dates," said Reed, who also met her current boyfriend using the dating website. "But the thing that got to me after being on it for so long is that you get so many messages from men who clearly haven't really read your profile that carefully, and they just message you anyway with these... requests.""* The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.

It's cute watching her try to rationalize why guys respond to a girl like that. If any other girls are curious... it's because men are used to being blocked out. The first stages of communication are always us saying absolutely whatever is necessary to keep the conversation going. It really doesn't matter what the woman responds with. If we're initially interested that will carry through at a minimum until the girl starts reciprocating. At which point we've won and if she's a shitty human being we'll probably move on.

This experiment doesn't highlight the men who ignored her profile. It only demonstrates the ones who respond. It would be more scientific if she wrote at least two other profiles. She needs a control profile with minimum information and a nice profile to contrast against the hateful profile. Compare not only the difference in quantity, but the difference in type of people responding to each profile's campaign should also be noted.

The hate profile does not come off as hate. It comes off as a humorous profile to get guys attention. In short, it comes off as a regular profile. If it was hate one would need to write it far, far differently. And its very easy to turn off guys if she wanted to.

I was once one of those rare species, but due to the constant mental abuse of the female population on the internet I have grown a lot colder to other people. When not five years ago I would pass a begger and give him food, now I would kick him a few times if he talked to me. People of today's society is to blame for the most part. On a side note; my childhood was not the best, and I was tagged as a nerd and outcast when I was in school. I had few friends and not many people liked me. Mostly because I was into video games before they where popular like today, and I didn't really get to talk to people so I was socially awkward, but I still wanted that connection to others. Despite having a number of friends I can count on one hand I still became a nice person till not a few years ago I snapped. I begun to not care about others, and laugh when I see people in hardships. Mostly because I lived through worse and they complain more then I did, but I still have that reaction. I don't very much like it qhen I look back on it. So long story condensed to moral of the story. I have changed because of people like this woman, not for the better. A friend of mine made two profiles. They had the exact same content, except for the profile picture (both attractive though) and the occupation. In one he was a lawyer, in one he was a cook. He was bombarded with messages on the lawyer profile and never heard from anyone on the cook profile. I don't think I need to spell out what I'm trying to say here.
