G'day Paul, thanks so much for your comment on oil pumps, why l asked I have 2 spare Bullet pumps l old/ new stock from the 60s ( English built) and one an aftermarket one, I'm going to check both and see if any difference???? Good advice about Gaskets, waiting for items to come back is always a pain as it holds up the job, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
My super meteor had a Lucas sr2 magneto fitted as standard, they were slated at the time as weak on low revs, personally mine was faultless, it had the benefits of the capacitor and points were outboard and replaceable with mini points and condenser,(providing you got the points with the tufnoll heel not the shite plastic one's) I can honestly say the engine was superb, the only weak point was if you thrashed it the cam chain was it's only weak point, and could snap wrecking the engine, personally it was the best smoothest bike I've ever owned, and yes, I totally regret getting rid of it 😭
Belt & braces! I always tested rigorously because if a bike could stand up to me, the owner was unlikely to have many problems, although waiting for slow wet-sumping was not normally part of the service, unless specified.
Hi PH. This is the one where you was at Wits' End the other week & was open to suggestions from Armchair Mechanics ? You put it down to the Mag & i have every faith in you Mate.👍 Just wondering if they ever did fit a distributor on them ? If so wouldn't that rule out a whole manner of things ? I only say this because i have never owned a bike with a mag. Look, i know that a Mag was good enough for RR Merlin engines but that was over 80 yrs ago. Plan B. I looked on Electrex website & they do an ignition for some british bike twins. This particular ignition relies on a pick-up on the stator. Just like on a Honda crunch. Can't think of the proper name for it. Not even 100% certain it would be plug & play but a man of your talents could make it work i bet ? Just to be clear i am not trying to teach you to suck eggs ok but you did say you was all ears ?
Multiple problems are always a pain to track down, but you did it Paul. Well done mate, thorough as always.
I enjoy these short update videos very much.
These vids are getting quite addictive....nice one mate, certainly skewed my you tube algorithm!

I would like to see and hear it on the road.

What is your preferred engine sealant Paul, please?...for those of us with enquiring minds and a wish to keep our boots oil free.
No real favourite, I have used Hylomar, Hermetite, Wellseal and others over the years.
