Even as a kid, when I watch this, I thought he was great. He was, by then, an old man, and super flamboyant, but his talent and charisma radiated it through my television. I wish he had done this more. Thanks for posting.
@Val O'Brien I know and i agree with you I loved him too I hated that rotten Scott Thorston his lover he was a crummy little creep And now he's dying of cancer Poetic justice
He was a master showman... Still quite surprising, but not as much as his track suit and mink! Wonder if it was a nod to hip-hop? Most inspiring aspect I find is his joy of all music seemingly....
@@thesteamingbean. Maybe, but Yo Yo Ma is like the only other one who's anywhere near that famous. And I think less people know him than Liberace. And did he ever go on MTV?
Thanks Biggest ... I can remember how disappointed I was when I found out at the time, that I had missed seeing Liberace's MTV - Guest VJ - gig ! So ... I can check that off now !
He got all dressed up for this! 😉 He looks a bit on the pudgy side (not complaining). And am I the only one who likes this hair version? It looks a bit closer to his real hair back in the day with those curls (as opposed to the usual fluffier look). Great video!
I've loved Liberace since he first appeared on TV in the early "50's" and I was between the age of 12-13, and I consider him the "Ultimate Entertainer" of the 20th century because for one he played all types of music and remembered any request that was thrown at him. I also feel if he had decided to be strictly a concert pianist he would have been the greatest at that also. Yes at nearly 80 I still love and surely miss this man...there will never be another like him; at least not in my lifetime!!!
This is phenomenal! I had no idea he was ever on MTV! It's amazing a 66 year old man got on especially at this time period but on top of that LIBERACE! Amazing! I wonder who put this video out and how? Just some old video tape? The quality isn't THAT bad!
Happy 100th birthday my friend can't wait to see you in Heaven someday. I know you won't want to be playing the piano there but perhaps you'll play every now and then as I'm walking past your window.
What makes you think he's in Heaven? As prescription in order to get to Heaven we must accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and repent our sins. Based on how he passed away he did not repent his sins
Thank you so much. This is one I had not seen. Merrical he can play so beautifully with those huge rings on.So wish he had not had the face lift and the wig is horrible.
he wanted to turn back time but unfortunately he picked the wrong surgeon that did coke while working on his patients SMH and the wig i didn’t mind because 60% of the male and female stars wore wigs. i didn’t know he wore wigs until later interviews with him some are hits and misses
My neighbor Gary, a roughneck from Arkansas with a third grade education, always insisted that Liberace was gay. When we argued that Lee was just "acting flamboyant to put on a good show" my neighbor would storm off and curse like an old sea dog. My aunt used to say she thought that Gary secretly had a crush on Liberace.
And There's Scott Thorson to take the fur from Liberace, this is about the time Scott ripped the wig off Liberace"s head when Lee thru away his stash of cocaine.
Such a masculine example of the male sex. His rivals shy away in fear as lesser gorillas bow before the Silverback. I dare say that every woman wanted to be with him, and every man hoped to be him. Few know that he once killed a mugger with his bare hands.
@@lylux4985 I do believe it was 1969 during Lee's time as an operative for the DIA. He had returned from Europe on one of his many tours, though this one had a side visit to Helsinki. In that day Helsinki was still a very grey and bleak place thanks to the austerity of post-War Finland's recovery. And as common as the uniform blocks of concrete flats were spies from all points of the compass. A deadly rendezvous later, and Lee returned into the US and was in possession of information that could have altered the balance of power. There, on the streets of Las Vegas, the unfortunate petty thief chose a most regretful time to accost dear Lee. When presented with the choice of taking a man's life, or protecting the nation, Liberace knew his duty and knew it well.

Aww Lee tryin to be cool for the young folk back in the day. Bless him. ❤️
❤😊
I remember seeing that on MTV....he had a heart of gold......
Lee was always amazing on any TV show. He seemed to be naturally gifted to be comfortable, informative and funny in front of a camera.
I had no idea he was on MTV! How incredible!
Have any opinion you want about Liberace.
The man could play the hell out of a piano and make it look effortless
I loved him when he was alive, still do! His finale on David Letterman cooking showed so much class.
even giving David the middle finger lol (david was a asshole back then) it was a awesome episode
@@MiiZzJ0kEr lol will have to look for that that would be something Liberace would do lol
His last was on the Oprah Winfrey show 1986
Imagine him hosting MTV today and introducing their current shows lol
This is ...marvelous. It really is.
I love Liberace
RIP I LOVE YOU
MY FRIEND
YOU ARE SADLY MISSED
HE WAS A MASTER AT THE PIANO
Thank you for the post

Thank you I too love liberace
Ur comments are wonderful
I would have been true to
Liberace if i was his lover
Bless his heart… This was the year I was born and he was 66 here. I loved this man 💔
The7 people who disliked this are just miserable people
8 now, they're just jealous because Liberace was ALWAYS happy but they're all miserable.
It's 10 now. Sad souls who can't appreciate the talent of Liberace.
0 now
They sure are too. Or.jealous
This was sooo nice what a sweet man
I can't believe he actually went on MTV, even back then. That's crazy. A classical musician could never get that famous and rich today.

Yo Yo Ma

@@Melissa0774 I saw him in March 1984! On a trip to Vegas with my parents!
He really wasn’t a classical musician. Classically trained, but be deliberately changed his style of playing to be more mainstream and marketable.
Absolutely fantastic. You will always be the best Liberace 💖
Thanks Biggest ... I can remember how disappointed I was when I found out at the time, that I had missed seeing Liberace's MTV - Guest VJ - gig ! So ... I can check that off now !

Happy birthday Lee, 100 today
Oh my gosh! I couldn`t even imagine Liberace turning ONE HUNDRED in May (if had lived). Where has the time gone? Thank you for remembering him.
They did restore his place to glory again!
He makes playing look easy 💙
👍 Mr. Showmanship "Lee"
HE IS HIT of all the times.Real(virtual) Superstar
dear chap, he doesn t look too well there, think might be a wig but he s putting a brave face on for us 😄
It wasn't long before he passed away.
What? He looks fantastic, and his mtv outfits are brilliant.
MTV cribs before MTV cribs. The OG
Damn! Made my day. I miss the old MTV too.
thanks!
Beautiful music. 🎼🎶🎵

Long live Lee’s memory.

His life was so extravagant. Floyd Mayweather is like a modern day Liberace in terms of lifestyle. I know Floyd has to be impressed by Liberace.
Happy 100th Lee. 5/16/2019
🖤🖤🖤😲 OMY ....MEGA AWESOME 😘FILM MY FAVORITE😘 PIANIST 🌹LIBERACE Thank you 😘😘😘🌹
Even in a jogging suite he wears all those rings.
That was mindblowing.
The man was a simply a genius.
I remember watching him on tv as a kid with my grandparents... I hope to meet you in heaven Mr. Liberace. God Rest.
I love his outfit
(At 6:42) "Eat your heart out, Boy George."
Liberace would toss his salad.
What a class act…..pure talent, one of the last great showman, we’ll never see his kind again.

Wow, that's amazing Jack! Where did you find this? I try to get this clip for years... Wonderful, thank you so much for sharing this!!!
How can you not love this guy?
1:35 I knew he was an incredible pianist, but to be able to play like that with all that bling on his fingers?!?!
Seamus322 he actually learned like that. As a kid he had lead weights on his fingers, so rings were the equivalent.
He was asked how he could play with all those rings on his fingers, he replied: "Very well".
Love him
That was really nice.
Can we consider this unofficially the first MTV Cribs?
Absolutely.
Love the white suit and fur.🔥🔥
I put him up there with Elvis as one of the greatest entertainers of all time RIP
Lee is looking a wee bit chunky here. He remarked that his suits came in three sizes. “Slim, fat and impossible.”
We miss you , Lee.
What a find, thank you!
The greatest pianist of all time. Liberace could play the classics, but concert pianists could not, and CANNOT play like him.
He is so amazing!! The fact that he could do this ass classical pianist is incredible!
Bravo!!!
Happy 100th Birthday Lee xx

Nice man and extremely talented
This was towards the end of his life
Либераче был гений во всём, великий музыкант и шоумен.
I love that his Weill by Mozart came by way of Raymond Scott’s In an 18th Century Drawing Room.
Néstor Castiglione why did he credit Mack the knife to Mozart etc?
What’s the song he’s really playing?
el toca el piano como un ángel
The original number #1 stunner
His boyfriend said when he was offstage or at home he was boring as hell. He just sat there. Like Robin Williams. A total sad sack
Look at those rings 💍😮
Thank you so much. This is one I had not seen. Merrical he can play so beautifully with those huge rings on.So wish he had not had the face lift and the wig is horrible.
I agree. He had a very handsome face!!! The facelift is ALL wrong.
I think it all adds to his Illusions!!!!

Agreed! 🤣
