  • Soon to be a thing of the past - 90012 departs Diss with a Shenfield to Norwich Intercity service.
These impressive looking 5'000hp British-built machines are due to be be phased out with the impending introduction of Class 745 Swiss-built Stadler FLIRT multiple unit trains. The 90's - along with the Class 91's operating between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh / Glasgow remain the last electric locomotive hauled / propelled trains in the UK. And all are set to disappear forever as Intercity services are handed over to lighter multiple unit trains that offer more seats and faster acceleration. Will this be the last summer that they operate along the Great Eastern Main line in passenger service?
