I literally made my tongue bleed because I was at school and the food wasn't coming out and I could only use my tongue and I picked at it for ten minutes straight until I realised that I could just use my water as mouthwash.
I wore braces through most of my pre-grade and grade school, when I finally got them taken off it felt like my teeth were shaved down or just not there. It felt soooooooo good to not have the wire scrape against the front of my mouth and the faint taste of the metal. Also it doesn't help that for several weeks a wire in the back of my mouth kept poking into my cheek, but still.
Our bone do dissolve and regrown in our life time.... Apart for teeth which is strong thing we had so that the reason can not be dissolve and regrown...
I got braces in college and had them for about two years. They could be a little painful in the beginning and after tightenings, but they weren’t that bad overall. It was really cool to see just how much my teeth moved over time, and to finally see the perfect end results. They also corrected a huge overbite that I had. Just wanted to comment for the people who haven’t yet gotten them, who might be scared or intimidated reading some of the other comments. Of course, everyone’s experience is different, and I’m sure that the pain feels a lot worse to children that to adults, but overall, I didn’t find it an unbearable experience. The worst part for me was trying to eat with the bite blocks on.
@@laurenbashoura9575 thanks. Did your teeth also become a little yellow while having braces on? I feel like all my teeth stained no mater how much I brush and floss and maybe the metallic wires also promoted bad breath? Idk tbh. But when you got your braces off, do they whiten your teeth or does it look whiter than before after they clean it up?
@@ferdoushihossain5922 I think a little yellowing is normal, but if you’re worried about the way your teeth changed after getting braces off, I’d consult a dentist. Everybody’s teeth and experiences are different. I didn’t see a huge difference in mine afterward, nor did I get them whitened, but that might not be the decade for everybody. Good luck!
As a dentist I must tell everyone that while this is true, it's just a tiny little fraction of what it really happens. The process is way more complex that cells sucking calcium from your jaw bone.
I agree. I have both impacted canines and was told by my dentist 3 X-rays ago that I had bone loss around one of the canines. She was concerned and told me that I could either lose the tooth or need a support. I had my most recent X-ray done by a different dentist and this new dentist said that he doesn’t see anything concerning!!! I was shocked and told my Orthodontist and he said that’s probably because the bone grew back. I was beyond happy to get that news because for many many months in a row my orthodontist was skipping working on my chains and just letting my canines fall on their own. I think he was being cautious about the bone loss and didn’t want to aggravate it by moving my canine too fast. Unfortunately this put me way behind in my treatment but maybe it was for the best. I’m 38 years old and have been in braces for 4.5 years. Right canine is 95% in place but the left one is giving me problems and looks like it’s barely visible from the side. I’m guessing my treatment will be done around the 5-6 years mark. I was told my treatment would only take about 2-2.5 years when I got my braces on. 😆😕
Braces tip: As someone with braces, who has delt with food stuck in the darn braces, trust me a water flosser is a smart investment. The orthodontist gave me a free one after I got my braces on, and it works so well! Lol definitely try one if you're dealing with food stuck in your braces.
Just got braces yesterday and nobody warned me that eating anything harder than liquid hurts😒😔😔 Edit: just got them tightened and the pain is 10x worseeeee😭😭😭
AirPodsUser don‘t worry the pain will go away after few days, the first week will be the hardest though, your mouth will get used to all the metal in your mouth. You‘ll eventually get sore around your oral cavity, but that will only last for maybe the first weeks. I‘ve had my braces for about 2 months now, you‘ll get used to eat normally again.. for the first 2 weeks try eating really really soft food for example soups, mashed potatoes, yoghurt etc. The only annoying thing is that the food will get stuck literally EVERYWHERE... also don‘t worry if the wire goes off (that happens alot in the first few months)
I’ve actually had braces and if you’re gonna get them then trust me: they hurt a lot for the first couple of days- day 1 I literally couldn’t eat because my teeth felt like they were going to burst with every bite. After every tightening appointment it hurts for a couple of days but it is more like an inconvenient pain- nothing like getting them fitted for the first time. Basically- the only time you will ever be making that face at 00:01 is in the first couple of days. 99% of the time you forget they are even there.
I have had braces for 7 years , I don’t agree with you completely…. They can hurt each time they are tightened also you may have accessories on them additional stuff . They do hurt but it goes away later on until your next visit
i have to wear a retainer plus braces made all of my teeth have spots on them with brown marks and nearly no enamel and my dentist is a liar and bad, joy
Nope. You only have to wear retainers half the time you wore braces. Purpose of the retainers are only to allow the jaw bone to grow back without the teeth going getting misaligned that’s already corrected by the braces.
I am okay with the pain of wearing braces for two years than the pain of getting laughed at and being called names for having crooked teeth when I was a kid. Not all of us are born with perfectly aligned teeth and I am glad I got braces and I am able to smile without feeling self conscious.
I felt the same and so I went through the process....I have finished one year of my treatment I have 1 more to go. My new straight smile (though metallic now) has given me so much confidence. They also had to remove 4 teeth from my mouth because of the excessive overcrowding and lack of space in my mouth for the teeth to align properly.
I read a lot of comments how they had crooked teeth and braces gave them a new smile and new confidence. Which is true in my case as well. And then I read a lot of replies to those comments saying if you don't love yourself you will only see defects and imperfections etc etc. People you do realise that a person can love themselves and still be conscious of their simle. Loving yourself doesn't mean that constant negativity doesn't affect you at all. We are all human and these things affect us. No one is perfect. People around me constantly point out my crooked smile but I still like to smile and laugh to my heart's content. But that doesn't mean their pointing doesn't feel bad. I appreciate that you tell people to be happy in their skin and smile but nobody can achieve that level of positively, that it builds up pressure on you to always be positive, to always love yourself. Excess of anything is bad even if it is self-love. We all love ourselves or learning to do so. Please stop commenting how people need to stop seeking validation, I know you are trying to be nice but rather than that just tell us how braces gave us nice smile. We are all struggling and we all love ourselves but don't rub it on someone's face.
Self improvement is also self love. Some people need a change in their lives for a confidence boost. Not all self love journeys are the same, and they don't have to be.
Stop sharing incomplete information, will you??? Yeah there is osteoclastic activity which resorbs the bone towards the side of pressure, but there is osteoblastic activity at the opposite side, forming new bone, so that the tooth stays in new place, yes retainers are required for few months once braces are removed so that the new bone formed gets enough time to calcify and soft tissue arrange according preventing tooth to move back...
So many likes on this comment. Love it. Yes to exactly what you said. Even the visuals in the video fail to show new bone forming leaving viewers thinking that they've only lost bone. I also don't understand where they got that mechanism of action explanation. No mention of periodical ligament involvement. If I wasn't a dental professional, and I watched this video, I would be terrified of braces.
honestly it‘s not as bad as told in this video, sure it does hurt at first and when you get them retightened, but you get used to it ! and it‘s worth in the end cause you end up having amazing teeth

I really feel you should have added at the end that after you get the braces off, you're in a retainer for the rest of your life. Getting braces is a lifetime commitment.
this is not true I had my retainers for 2 weeks then I lost them and never bought them again my teeth never moved again and remained in place, never went croocked again siiiuuuuu
They forget that it best to do it while u r teenger... Won't recommend to working adult...(it not going with everyone) But hey.... This is more like paid for you know who.....
As someone who has braces right now, they suck at first. When I first got them on and tried eating, I thought to myself "How am I going to do this for the next 2 years?" Eventually you get used to it, and the pain usually only happens when you first get them on, or get them tightened. Take some Tylenol and you'll be fine. I should also mention, my teeth weren't horribly crooked, so I cannot attest for the pain level for more uneven teeth.
4 years here too and now I'm on my first year with retainers and I still have an overbite 😔😔 Apparently the dentists don't find it a problem but aesthetically I hate it
Before braces, I had tiny rubber removable "spacers" to prepare the gums. One of them got buried so deep in my gum that my orthodontist thought it fell out, so they put another one in and forgot about the first. Months later, I went back with tons of pain and they found it so far deep in my gum that it turned from blue to red. No infection, somehow. Mouths are crazy!

@@Ryanbros I’ve had jaw problems ever since I had braces as a teen. It’s not something horrible to live with but definitely comes with discomfort from time to time.
Yes they literally do, better check Orthotropics for straight teeth for free, instead of paying a fortune and getting your face = jaws = teeth destroyed on top.
The tightening pain is similar to getting punched in the jaw every hour. Lasts for days. I couldn't eat or drink so naturally I lost 30 lbs within two months. Was underweight until they were removed. I had the worst case of crooked teeth according to three dentists and my current orthodontist. I had braces in for 3 1/2 years and had to have 8 teeth removed beforehand.
I considered getting braces but bailed out when the dentist said I'd most likely need to get 6 to 8 teeth extracted and have the braces > 2 yrs. It's purely for aesthetics, i have no bite issue. I was like "wtf, I don't want to suffer that much just to be _slightly_ less unattractive"... 😅
I’m having the treatment now and I’ve just begun to realize it’s like I’m dealing with stages of pain for each procedure. The first painful part was the spacers on the molars, then the metal bands placed around them to expand the palate. Next was teeth extraction. They all hurt like hell and I haven’t even had the wires put on, yet because I have to get two more teeth extracted, and I’m absolutely dreading it. No joke, the pain is elevated each time compared to the last and this is coming from someone with a high pain tolerance😂
@@kconrad5893 For YOU. For some people it does last days, usually for me it took a week for the pain of tightening to go away enough for me to eat normally again.
It depends on how crooked they initially were too. The more the orthodontist has to rotate or move your teeth the more they will hurt. If they aren't that crooked they will hurt less.
Bruh my braces never hurt at all & I've them for 2 months now, apparently it's supposed to be the worst in the beginning? only problem was the metal rubbing on the inside of my cheek the 2nd day when I ate, but the wax fixed that quick
Literally got my braces two days ago and I tried to eat a soft burrito. I cried. I cried for myself for I am in pain and I cried for the burrito. RIP you will be missed.
Great to see this informative video. Learned a lot vs talking to a dentist who acts as if she's the best one but doesnt know how to explain to her patient properly whenever she's been asked how does braces works
Why do those even exist, I hate the idea of having to wear retainers for the rest of my life to keep my 2 front top teeth straight. I honestly contemplated just not doing anything like that, because the pain and effort is too much just to keep your set straight, and plus if you don’t wear the retainers the top may go back to how it was. Honestly I don’t like it, but that’s just me
Australium oh, trust me, wear the god damn retainers and you won't have to get braces again. I still have my braces on, and I have had them since fourth grade.
i had braces for 5 years and i only wore my retainers for a year.. my teeth have SLIGHTLY shifted back to their original shape. slight occlusion on bottom teeth. main problem is the wisdom teeth shoving your molars around. just not worth it IMO
Just got braces three days ago and I am trying to convince myself through these videos that change will happen and I need to be patient. Well at least the pain and soreness is gone
From experience, I usually experience pain after 2-6 days after adjusting them, then it stops hurting. I'm now on my retainers glued behind my teeth (since I'm forgetful af). My bottom left canine used to be about 45° turned to the right ever since I was a child. After the braces they are 10x better and straighted as they could be, plus I don't get over bite pain as much : ) Also, this is random but... I'm starting to get back to chewing on bones, since according to my dentist as long as the retainers are alright, it's fine to chew hard food. I missed doing that when I got braces : (
At first it seems like a dreadful experience, but eventually time will pass faster than you think. (Though I will admit I never missed having braces, some tough times lol)
@@chandremckenzie i got my upper row first so then the pain stayed for about 7-8 days. The pain started about a 6 and then decreased. Your teeth will ache only if you eat something hard and usually there will be a slight discomfort and not exactly an ache. Also there will swelling on the gums and on your inner lips. I had ulcers as well on that first week and later on the third week as my teeth started moving around. So that adds a bit to the pain too. I got braces on my lower row this February and this time the pain was really less as I was used to the discomfort. My suggestion would be to eat soft food as long as the discomfort stays, dont eat sandwiches and such things that need a strong bite. Also if the teeth and inner lips are giving you discomfort, keep on drinking lukewarm water, your mouth will not feel dry and the warmth will help with the pain slightly. Keep in drinking water, or your mouth with get dry and that ulcers are prone to happen more. Good luck!!
i wore braces for 5 whole years, and its already 5 years since i took them off, cant believe how fast time passed now, and how much i waited to get them off back then
One time I got my braces tightened, it literally hurt so much I coulnd't even brush my teeth properly for a few days. Luckily, the pain eventually goes away, but depending how much the braces were tightened, I have had the pain last for multiple weeks.
You know what i hate? When Im getting my braces tightened and i see those pamphlets in the room with people with amazing smiles... while im over here looking like a brace face 😐
I had misaligned teeth since I was a kid. Then I had braces for a year. The before and after difference is phenomenal and is worth whatever trouble that the braces caused.
"The orthodontist doesn't take out a drill and break your jawbone themselves" although that would probably be less painful and definitely faster and better for everyone
I don't think it works like that, it would be quite invasive and would require stitches which increases the chances of scarring and damage. Better to do it slowly so nothing major gets damaged.
@@sweetberry9816 what you said was a disrespectful to the dentists.. braces are an amazing thing wich can bring healthy and confidente, glory to the braces
@@sweetberry9816 dude, using a drill would still also do more damage and requires skill if you don't want your gums or mouth ruined, and it can cause serious damage to your mouth as a whole, and what dentists are doing now still requires a lot of skill just by putting on braces, and laughing gass will probably be required more often if we'd use drills, that stuff costs a hundred dollars for an hour. Plus, you can't really blame a dentist for getting paid for their jobs, and their jobs are almost like a surgeon's, they're operating with people's body parts, one tiny mistake can be a filed lawsuit, and they're exposed to random people who possibly carry some sort of airborne or direct contact diseases, and it's easier for them to have amalgamate exposure.
What the dentists don't say is that moving teeth a significant amount can result in the jawbone reabsorbing the root of the tooth, which will mean you'll need an implant.
Teeth movement is always happening. If you have a space, teeth tend to move towards it to close the gap. What braces does is it guides the teeth to the ideal alignment. When it dissolves bone on one side, bone deposition happens on the other side so that the teeth has bone support. Orthodontists also allows monthly adjustments, 2 weeks for movement and 2 weeks for healing.
@@BmorePatriot They weren't terrible but I wouldn't say minor. They actually said I'd probably have them for about 18 months, maybe more when I had them put on, but then 4 months later they said they were ready to come off, and that it was in incredible how quickly it worked.
Pain depends on what type of braces you have. I have the Damon system and I never had pain. A discomfort here and there but never had any pain: not after getting them on or after getting them tightened. The teeth move faster and you have less dental consults.
Lol it just hurts for 3 days and then you feel nothing.. :) *edit : it really depends about you sometimes it can take two days for the pain to go or even a month.
You know, while I was taking my rubber bands off to eat lunch at school, some people were laughing at me, and the kid laughing at me had braces before. At that point, I wasn't worried about why he was laughing at me, I was worried if he had memory loss.
I remember i was in middle school and a kid was making fun of my uneven teeth and i told him you better shut up because before you had braces you teeth were horrible than mine and then everybody started laughing at him and from that moment he didn't try to make fun of me.

I was scared to death of getting braces... once I got them on I barely felt anything tho, worst part was biting into a sandwich and having the bread stick to the braces for hours
Pro tip: when you get your braces off, DO NOT neglect wearing your retainer. I got mine off in middle school, stupidly figured those years of wearing braces meant they wouldn’t move and now I could use braces again. Lowkey it is my biggest regret in life.
Teeth gotta work with, and against(oppose) each other. They keep each other in place, and preserve your upper(maxillary) and lower (mandible/jaw bone) bones. Gun disease(flossing?) keeps infections from your heart. If you got this you’re set. Most Hollywood teeth are capped on top, with true genetics remaining on the mandible.
You didn't mention this, but when the osteoclasts dissolve the bone in the way of the tooth, osteoblasts build it up behind the tooth as it moves, to keep it stable. And since the tooth is essentially loosening in the process, the pain is because the teeth need less force to move them, which is what triggers the nerves, since a force strong enough to move normal teeth would usually be dangerous.
I've had my braces for a little over 18 months. Hopefully, I can get them off soon. My last check up, my orthodontist said, "Let's get these off you. It's been a long time coming," and then proceeded to put wires back in. He got my hopes up that day.
When I got braces, the dentist said that I'd be able to remove them after a year. That was 3 years ago and I still have them. Dentists are the most unpredictable creatures I have ever come across.
Thank God for braces. I had to have 4 teeth and 4 wisdoms removed but at least my lips could close. It was horrible having them - the cuts on my lips and the headaches and tooth pain. Having them removed was also a bit traumatic - having them wrenched off with tools that looked like pliers but when I smiled it was all worth it. Wish I wore my retainer though as my teeth did move a little but it still looks good 25 years later.
Means you had braces 25yra before?? ..I just want you ask one thing does your jaw line and cheek bone chin affected after 8..to 10yrs? Bcoz the teeth can be straight but moving a bit but with having extractions our Jaw drops overtime leading to loose skin and double chin. Is your facial profile good now? Are you still wearing retainers? All my teeth are perfect just the upper 2 are overbite and it doesn't look good when I was child but as I was underweight and now my face structure looks better and sometimes I feel cute of my teeth from left side and from right it's bit weird. This happend bckz I am gaining weight to be fit so now the overbjte doesn't look too bad jts coverd by cheeks. My dentist said to remove 4 teeth and one optional bckz my wisdom teeth is only half developed and my dream is to become singer. If my face..jawline..changes worse bcoz of extractions and have short palette bcoz of that I might feel difficult in singing with retainers to be used forever now and then. Pls tell does my face get more better or worse bcoz of extractions. Movement can happen and the aligned teeth won't be permanent anyway. So pls suggest weather I should get or not. 😆😕
But tell me Mr. Dentist, does the bone grow back? And if not, does that mean we are left with even weaker teeth?
Braces tip: As someone with braces, who has delt with food stuck in the darn braces, trust me a water flosser is a smart investment. The orthodontist gave me a free one after I got my braces on, and it works so well! Lol definitely try one if you're dealing with food stuck in your braces.

It goes away...eventually
Ooohhhh it hurts. And it will continue to hurt. Don't worry though, the pain will dull down in a few days/week
It gets better
Eating spaghetti its the worse
Watching this video made me relive the pain of braces. I had them for three years and I still have one tooth that moved back.
Tragic 😔
How
thats what retainers are for lmao
May i ask how old are you ? I am 27 now , wonder if i could still do braces
Should've worn your retainer.

No you don’t lmaoooo
i have to wear a retainer plus braces made all of my teeth have spots on them with brown marks and nearly no enamel and my dentist is a liar and bad, joy

Well said

Self improvement is also self love. Some people need a change in their lives for a confidence boost. Not all self love journeys are the same, and they don't have to be.
Stop sharing incomplete information, will you???
Yeah there is osteoclastic activity which resorbs the bone towards the side of pressure, but there is osteoblastic activity at the opposite side, forming new bone, so that the tooth stays in new place, yes retainers are required for few months once braces are removed so that the new bone formed gets enough time to calcify and soft tissue arrange according preventing tooth to move back...
OMG THANK YOU!

My bottom left canine used to be about 45° turned to the right ever since I was a child. After the braces they are 10x better and straighted as they could be, plus I don't get over bite pain as much : )
Also, this is random but...
Good luck!!

"The orthodontist doesn't take out a drill and break your jawbone themselves" although that would probably be less painful and definitely faster and better for everyone

I remember i was in middle school and a kid was making fun of my uneven teeth and i told him you better shut up because before you had braces you teeth were horrible than mine and then everybody started laughing at him and from that moment he didn't try to make fun of me.
@@hba0070 I honestly don't understand how that was in any embarrassing for him. Sounds like his braces were already off...so why would he care about how his teath used to look?
Super grateful for my braces treatment! Honestly, I'm glad I stuck through the pain. If you're about to get braces, don't overthink it. It's so worth it in the end! 🥺🥺
Canker sores is my enemy right now, Just got braces today :(
do u have to wear retainers?
@jerson balderama I hope you feel much better now! Sometimes, I would have warm soup, and it helped ease the pain when I got my adjustments every month.
@@parulwadkar yes I did wear retainers after treatment. You get removable ones and permanent ones. Depending on your case, your dentist will choose which is more appropriate for you😃
@@jersonbalderama6902 dental wax is your friend
my teeth are crooked and i never smile with my teeth. i REALLY need braces sadly.
Same here
Same. 😔
we should make a crooked teeth club. lol
Crooked teeth had it issue.. but I won't recommend do it when u r working adult.... It will be crooked for the rest of your life anyhow....
campkira i guess i’ll just live with it
To give everyone my experience:
First time getting them on, it litteraly hurt to eat so much i just drank smoothies and other stuff, but after 3-4 days u can eat normally but try to stay away from hard things. Every time you go back and get them fixed every month or so it will hurt for 1-3 days but the more times u have done it the shorter time it will take for the pain to go away.
After 2 years i didn’t realy have any pain at all even after getting them fixed every month, some months ago i got off my braclets and i felt like a new person
I am going to get 4 teeth extracted and braces so I am a bit worried
I mean in future does this extraction would affect my other tooth
And would my jawline look chubby after this process would be done?
@@indranimondal9188I have extracted 4 teeth as well, has your jaw shape changed after the braces?
@@jairajvarindanihey ,y dentist told me the same, But I am comfused, do I go for i
Younger me- I want braces so bad 😭😭😭
Me Now- Get these demons off of my TEETH!
I was scared to death of getting braces... once I got them on I barely felt anything tho, worst part was biting into a sandwich and having the bread stick to the braces for hours
Lol
OMG SAMEEEE
Meeeee😩😩
they hurt and i kinda want to pull them off but i know i can't do that😭
Pro tip: when you get your braces off, DO NOT neglect wearing your retainer. I got mine off in middle school, stupidly figured those years of wearing braces meant they wouldn’t move and now I could use braces again. Lowkey it is my biggest regret in life.
Braces are free in Sweden if you’re underage ✌🏻✨✨ //got my braces for free

Is it a coincidence that this came up in my recommended the day before I get braces?

I remember taking them off, the feeling of your lips feeling your smooth teeth is something else
Does it really matter if my teeth need to be perfect hollywood style when I’m not in Hollywood
Depends on the situation. In the end your teeth are gonna rot anyways
They literally said in the video that straighter teeth are easier to care for. So, yes, hollywood smiles do have their own benefits. 0:40
It really depends on you really. But maloccluded teeth can cause a lot of problems
OML IS THAT ED KEMPER
You didn't mention this, but when the osteoclasts dissolve the bone in the way of the tooth, osteoblasts build it up behind the tooth as it moves, to keep it stable. And since the tooth is essentially loosening in the process, the pain is because the teeth need less force to move them, which is what triggers the nerves, since a force strong enough to move normal teeth would usually be dangerous.
If osteoblasts build up behind then what is the reason of relapse of teeth after removal of braces
Do visit the Orthotropics youtube channel
I have mine for 8 years now but it's cool i don't pay anyway
so im basically paying 6K for them to dissolve my jawbone...nice😃
omg imagine someone tries to dissolve their jaw at home now
I swear to God, getting my braces off was the best feeling ever. I couldn't stop smiling for a month. Totally worth it.
What retainers did you get !
Braces: Finally off for good
Retainers: Allow me to introduce myself
Any age is ok for that? Am 20 planning to get after 25 or 30
got them on today, 3 goddamn years from now i’ll be the happiest person alive
I got them not too long ago too. But mine are for 2 years. See you in two years future self. 🧑🏻🏭

Just so you know, they hurt like an mfer
Main Account Only for the first few days though
I’ve had three separate sets of braces over my life, and one major operation that fixed my malocclusions. Almost 15 years since my first set in middle school, I finally got a perfect smile at the ripe old age of 29
Everyone's talking about their painful braces and now I'm worried because I can't even tell mine are there
niamh x me too 💀
When did you get your braces
Ana Sanchez 13th June
Me too it’s not painful
niamh x it only hurts for the first few days when you get them tightened from the pressure. After that I feel no pain
I'm getting my braces tomorrow and I'm watching this, it helps and doesn't help me at the same time.
It most likely won’t hurt getting them on but the days after are something else man 😪 Good luck hope everything goes well for youuu

MEWING is what should be done alongside dentistry like this
ilovecodemonkeys sadly mewing will not speed up the process, as your tongue does not output enough pressure to push against the stainless steel or nickel titanium wire. it’s still good to practice good tongue posture though!
Yes but dentists won't ever tell you to do that cause they're misinformed just like the others

I wore braces for 1 year, retainers for 4 years. Then the dentist took the retainers off and my teeth got crooked again. Then i got Invisalign for 9 months and got my teeth straight again. I only wear my retainer at night but if i forget to wear it for 2 days, I can see my teeth starting to get crooked again. The dentist told me I need to wear a retainer forever
See the Orthotropics channel. Moving just the teeth without addressing the cause of misalignment won't cure the problem. I had classic teenage braces twice back in the day. Now at middle age, I'm going through a slow alternative to double jaw surgery with palatal and mandibular expander devices. It's working great so far, I have more of a chin!
