Awesome review! OMG this series is sooo good. I grew up in Canada and these books found their way into our library - it was so popular at one point that there were literally 30-40 kids all trying to read the series and passing around copies of the books. We all tried to keep it spoiler free from each other, but I remember this hitting a craze at one point and I jumped on the bandwagon. It was the first series I ever read start to finish and I remember being absolutely hooked. I just recently hunted down the a full 12 book set (with the original covers I remembered from grade school, which is super nostalgic to have) and I'm looking forward to reading this again. I hope it's just as good as I remember - going to be interesting to read this as an adult now! lol
CDF was the US title. Hrrnggghhh yes- Character introductions - where did you put it for Harkat? 💖✨✨ The author is a big fan of Stephen King and talks about that a lot, so I’m not surprised that there are references ^_^ what was it, btw? I don’t read much King… Re: the toxic masculinity thing - ouch the second half though. Like. What he says in the book 12 interlude that he wishes he’d done (besides wishing he’d never become a vampire). Kurda is the patron saint of the opposite of toxic masculinity ^_^ -> question: in book 3 in the UK edition, does Gavner call the thing about becoming a Prince “ordination” or “investiture”? In the US editions of 4-6 it’s “investiture” but in book 3 Gavner says “ordination”, not sure if it’s a UK/US thing or a retcon… I….. reread these about every other year since they were coming out and there’s always something new to notice. I’ve been doing fanart and fanfics like nonstop for 4 months now ^_^;;; sorry for the long comment lol but !!!! glad to see more discussion of these- Also, have you read the notes on the author’s website about the books? They’re very interesting~
