I've been using this tripod for a couple of years and love it for it's weight. My one big gripe is that the plate is not an arca swiss plate. When I swing my camera over sideways on the ball head for a vertical shot, the plate loosens up so that I have to take it off and re-tighten it. Maybe an L bracket would fix that problem?
Can this tripod's leg be adjusted to a different angle? It says on the website that it has "Independent leg positioning at 3 different angles (20°, 45°, 80°) for more versatility and possibilities to adapt to uneven terrain."
In 264CB the thickness of leg (dont know top segment or bottom) is 26mm and 4 leg segments. 235 has 23mm thickness and 5 leg segments. So, 264 would be more sturdier with more load capacity than 235. These are all my assumptions though.
Veo 2 Is available in two model ab & cb Ab is aluminum ballhead Cb is carbon firbe ballhead 265 cb can hold upto 6 kg where 265 ab can hold upto 8 kg Meaning aluminum one has more load capacity at same price but a bit heavier Same goes for all models

Hi David, with nephews of 6'6" & 6'7", 6'5" is not so high. With better diets nowadays, it does seem that height is increasing gradually. Even at your height, the tripod to line up with mounted camera may work at 6'2" or even 6' since the ball-mount may not be included and putting in 72 inch tripod on Google Chrome does give plenty of choice whether twist or lock varieties. As a landscape photographer, could you show when and where you would use a tripod and when and where not, please? It would be interesting how you cope with wet weather, eg I opine my pentax with circular lens hood is practically weatherproof, but how to cope with cameras without weather seals may be an interesting video. I enjoy your videos.

It’s not removable. A lot of travel tripods aren’t as adjustable as normal ones. But still a good value with this one. Not sure about different column sizes either. I will say to get lower, you can put the camera upside down with the center column down and flip the image in post processing. It’s a good hack when you have a center column
I'm here from vanguards facebook page. Definitely after a smaller lighter tripod myself. Also have the alta pro which has been great but it is a bit heavy and large to really take anywhere on your back.
Beginner level photographer looking to purchase my first tripod. I think I've narrowed my search down to the Vanguard brand but unsure of whether or not the Veo 2 or Alta Pro series would be better to work with. Mostly city landscape with limited travel so far, but the compact nature of the Veo 2 just seems so appealing, hoping to get your input since you appear to utilize both. Thanks!
5:13 - "best tripod" cannot be as flimsy as this one. did you try take pictures 30deg down with your telephoto? this ballhead cannot be well tightly clamped
Just ordered the VEO 2 265cb. I'm 6'4 and live with failed surgeries in both knees for the meniscus so weight was a big concern for me but that doesn't stop me from producing amazing landscape shots. Also the carbon is just sick.
I have a Vanguard tripod which I had a problem with and it took me almost 4 months of emails and phone calls to get it sorted. The photo stores told me to give up because the suppliers are not interested in selling you parts if something goes wrong. I like their products, but I will never purchase another Vanguard product after the experience I had in trying to order 1 replacement leg lever.

Hi Joe and David, Brian here, I am short compared to you blokes, I'm only 6'2". I really hate having to stoop down to look through the view finder and so maximum height is one of the first things I look for when I buy a tripod. Anyway, I bought a Vanguard Auctus 323CT. It is carbon fibre with an alloy centre column. This tripod has a max operating height of 74 inches with the centre column extended. I usually only use a couple of inches of the centre column but often don't bother with it at all.. There are obvious trade offs for having a tripod of this size the most notable being its large foot print and a folded height of 32 inches. I have found it to be rock solid even in strong winds, but for peace of mind there is a hook on the end of the centre column where you can hang your pack for extra stability. (the heights quoted include the ball head, a Vanguard BBH200) Anyway I hope this helps. All the best from Australia.
This is why i absolutely dislike travel tripods with pencil thin legs and small ballheads. Short tripods don't bother me much as i can use live view.....it must be able to reach ground level as that is more important for landscape photographers. My primary tripods are Gitzo GT5543XLS and RRS TVC 44 with a BH55 ballhead....both are extremely heavy and long, but super stable. I shoot long exposures in harsh conditions so stability is far more important than weight.
Unfortunately, there are trade-offs using a travel tripod. Small, compact and light vs. Needed height, weight, load capacity, stability, etc. I made a trip to Europe last Spring. Bought the Vanguard Veo 37 Shoulder Bag before the trip and a very inexpensive brand X travel tripod that fit perfectly in the bag as my carry-on personal item. The brand x worked OK for a few months, but fell apart while I was shooting elk in Smoky Mountain NP. You get what you pay for I guess. Love the Vanguard Veo 37 bag though. Perfect solution to fit a travel tripod when you don't want to tote a heavy back pack. Good review. Still shopping for a new travel tripod.
Seems interesting. I totally understand the trouble with "small" tripods. I'm almost 2 meters which are... 6.5 feet according to my calculator. 😅 I use a Rollei C5i (at least they are known here as Rollei, I'm sure they sell with other names in other countries) tripod, which isn't the best at all, *but* in my opinion a quite decent choice as a starting point. This weekend was a photo expo in the next city here. Which actually was more a sidekick of the tourism expo there, but nevertheless, good to check out some gear. I kind of fell in love with the LowePro ProTacic backpacks (Did you know that Manfrotto bought LowPro at the beginning of 2018?) and finally checked out the ClassicBall ball head of Novoflex. I'm not sure if they'll send you a review sample, but at least you can try it. I’ve heard really good things about the LowePro tactical bags. They’re a little small for me but the photographers I know who have them have liked them
@@DavidJohnstonPhoto Yeah, they are more like ideal carryon-backpacks than for large tours. But you can attach other bags to them, if you like. And they seem to be very rugged. According to the LowePro seller there, you could put 100 kilograms on them and they can take it. I was tempted to try it out and to put myself (120 kg) upon them, but... as long as they aren't mine, I'm afraid I could break them. I don't worry to break my own stuff, but stuff from others I handle very carefully. 😅
spinning clamp leg locks are faster than flip clamps? wow, I've heard it all now. Call it like it is man. Is the center column reversible? this doesn't seem to be detailed anywhere..also I believe this comes with a great little center column for low angle shooting - you didn't cover this.
This is what cracks me up about social media influencers.......you are just never happy! You complain because the first one was too tall and stuck out. Now you complain because this one isn't tall enough. Seems you need to make up your mind. From what I see this is a terrific tripod for anyone looking for compactness and less weight.

Whats the basic differance between VANGUARD VEO 2 264CB vs VANGUARD VEO 2 235CB
The 265 is more compact
In 264CB the thickness of leg (dont know top segment or bottom) is 26mm and 4 leg segments.

Yeah Troy, I LOVE the alta pro but it is a bit too cumbersome in certain situations. I’d recommend this one though!
you should be able to swap out the arca swiss clamp on the ball head for something larger quite easily

I haven’t used that one although there are various option of the VEO 2 available
I have the 264ab, aluminum model. Way cheaper, more sturdy and only 0.7lbs heavier.
