      Hi Scott, how you still feel about all the new electronic features 3 years later? Is everything reliable still?

  • @mattwhatevz
    @mattwhatevz 3 года назад +2

    Yes yes! We need more electronics and computer driven equipment! Enough with the simple easy to repair hydraulics. Running my skid steer doesn’t cost me enough every year. Keep it up CAT

    Love the video, however I wish you would have show in depth each bucket leveling switch as well as the other features you were talking about. The foot throttle is a give me. Thanks again.

    Does the 259D have a float feature where you can disengage the hydraulics and float the bucket??

    They r kinda pricy. However u just can't beat the 289D imo. I don't ever use bkt level crap. But it's there if u want it. I have a time or 2 loadin trucks an top window is dirty

    Give me an AC cab, hyd over hyd pilot controls and you can keep all that whizbang expensive prone to failure servo electric gadgetry. You get better feel with hyd controls, none of that fly by wire tactile deadzone. An operator should be able to level his load, up or down and if they have to think about dropping their bucket to grade when loading a truck that means they're still inexperienced and need more seat time. I do however like the accel/decel pedal concept. Works great for fine work on dozers.

      These controls are proven to be reliable, and there's no "feel" on the older sticks. The 226B3 at my farm would be a better machine if it had sticks as good as on the 279D I use.

    Okay,who actually builds the motors for the skid steers?Are they cat motors or are they built offshore and badged cat?Im not saying its bad,just want to know.

      I believe the engine in the 279D (and therefore several others) is a Kubota adapted for the Cat equipment. It definitely isn't bad, I love the 279D. It's better and has more real power than the 279C.

      Not a Cat fanboy, I'm a business man. I agree their machines aren't cheap to buy but their parts prices are no worse than Kubota,Deere.Takeuchi, Wacker or Bobcat (owned all of them) and in many cases are less than the others.

    Don't buy, i use one in work, it only has 1100 hrs on it and the plate which holds the bucket on is just two pieces off cheap tubing, both broken and cat will not cover it under warrenty. not the only problem we have had with it. Lights are useless on it and the air conditioning unit can barely keep the cab cool in summer. It's a whimp off a machine.

    It’s too bad the CAT is half again more expensive than all other brands.

    60 hours on my brand new 289d3 and the heel on the bucket was worn through in three places. Cat told me it is a operator problem.
    They will not warranty that.
    For $86000.00
