I will not stop stressing that, even with a back up camera, it is solely on the operator to keep their head on a swivel, because at the end of the day, the operator will be the responsible party for any injuries and/or property damage that shall occur on any jobsite.
Absolutely, with Case and New Holland skid steers being what I mainly operate and keep in mind none have a back up camera , you need to have your head on a swivel. The boom and everything else on the rear of the cab has so many blind spots, look before you reverse basically lol
I absolutely REFUSE to depend on camera. Even backup cams on Vehicles.
@@UZI9MMAUTO At the end of the day, you are operating the machine and therefore are responsible for assuming a distracted worker is near your machine.
@@UZI9MMAUTO Well said.
I've got quite a bit of seat time In several different machines, and I've gotten good at it too, but I can tell you first hand, that experience isn't always everything, things happen sometimes without regard to our critical thinking, sometimes it's inevitable, as a prime example, I was operating a front-end loader a while back, and I was going to move a broken robot that came off of a manufacturing assembly line, and I had to use one for to position the robot arm enough to grab it with both forks, well the robot wasn't having any of it, and tipped my loader and I plum over on our side, there was nothing I could do to correct it due to the weight of the robot completely overtaking the counterweight on the loader. And I wasn't the first. So moral of the story, you can be as safe as you want which I highly recommend, but sometimes you just can't escape inevitability.
I drove a CAT 257B in Afghanistan, on and off, for six months. They are incredibly easy to use and extremely versatile, but had quite a few limitations for the work we were doing with it most of the time. It would be great to get in one again, if only for a few minutes.
So I started a new job recently. At my new job we have a old skid steer we use around the yard for various tasks.
I have until now never operated a skid steer what so ever. Thanks to your videos I was able to safely operate our skid steer right out of the gate.
Keep up the good work.
Nice reddit spacing
@@handrubbingmerchant1927 I have no idea what that means, so thanks I think.
How’s it going on the machine?
@@jarsin4480 it went well till we took it down for maintenance and then ended up rebuilding it. I quickly became skilled at using it.
I left that job s few days ago. My new job has forklifts. So onto the forklift safety training videos.
Fantastic explanation, great use of various camera angles for visibility. This is a golden resource! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for having this video! It may be the basics for some, but this trained me so I could rent a skid loader and move some materials. It felt fantastic as the guy that delivered the loader as he was giving me the basics, I was able to tell him other options for the programming buttons that he did not know! I "trained the trainer!" 😀
This is a great helpful video. I am renting a skid steer this weekend and have been a little apprehensive about operating it. Your tutorial is right to the point and has given me some confidence to be able to operate it properly. 😁
how did your rental experience go? did they expect you to load it and unload it?
@joea104 it went well. The delivered, unloaded and gave me a short tutorial. Took a little bit to get used to the controls, but in the end I was able to bring my property back to life. I rented the brushcutter attachment and it ate small bushes and trees like they were butter. I highly recommend renting one if you are a do it yourselfer like I am.
@billreedvt - ok thank you for the response I really appreciate it.
this is my dream job Operating Heavy Machinery
Same
You can do it!
This is and has been my dream job for 43 years. Loving every day of it still. Good luck hope your dream comes true. 👍😎
I just got hired today, the key is having a prior job where you can operate any machine
I love how this guy teach,he's an expert in this field he make things look so easy,I was training today on a 270 JCB,not bad at all.
Great overview for beginners (like me). Thanks for taking your time & especially for using the hand held cam for close ups on the buttons. Satisfied new subscriber.
Great video, I’ve never operated any heavy machinery but with this video I was able to rent a skid steer and do some dirt work.
Awesome to hear...thanks for the comment!
I'm pretty good on one but how you explained the c controls, wow. Great job on that. It was clear and cut💯%
Luv your vid. Simple, precise and too the point. Great overall general overview.
This is a great tutorial of John Deere 325G! I just subscribed so I'd see more of your guides and tutorials! Have a great day!
Excellent video and very informative to assist me in operating a John Deere skid steer this summer! Thank you!
I own a 323E and actually learned something from you. Thank you
That's a nice machine, love John Deere skid steers!
awesome video. simple and to the point. thank you very much.
Very helpful. Best how to on the RUclips.
It funny the opinion for the Deceleration Pedal function switch. The CAT and International Had the Deceleration Pedal. The CASE had a throttle like a vehicle. The JD 450 Dozers had just a clutch pedal. On Dozers. The CASE had the option of Full throttle if you wanted that. Just saying a little history on Dozers. The BOBCAT control's were really strange. You used your feet, hard to get use too for me. I will say watched a guy who started his Skid steer operator days with Bobcat. He was a pro. The funny thing about are Bobcat, was the Lever control's. On opinion for foot or Lever control's. You pushed the Levers Left to right for all Front Loader operations. That was also strange to get use too. Anyway Thank you for training video. Very Detailed on full operation of a JD skid steer. They are Rated as very powerful Skidsteer for there class.
Great video. New operator here and just purchased that exact machine. Timing couldn’t be better. Love the channel. Thanks for the video.
Awesome! Thank you!
Me watching this video about to go interview for a skid position with no experience heh
same lmfao
Thank you for tips!
Hi, thank you for your help good job
I'm renting one in a few days and stumbled upon this video. Excellent Video! Exactly what I wanted, and with no BS. I already feel better about my decision to get one for a few days.
Appreciate this video.
I am only fifteen and have been driving Bobcats since I was 8. I personally prefer foot controls.
Using one to backfill a pool tomorrow, with no prior experience haha
Nice video
Only reason I haven't gotten a raise at work is cause I don't know how to operate one of the skid steers and the foremam doesn't want to tech me.
Thank you for this video
Hoping you have a video on how to operate and functions the reach stacker at port area. Thank you.

@@HeavyMetalLearning much appreciated👍
Thank you very much
Just used one for the first time and this video really helped but the only difficult thing to get used to is backing up, pushing the stick left in reverse makes it go right and vise-versa. This is the only part left out but I'm guessing that you get so used to the way it works that it becomes second nature and you forget that it is counter intuitive to many people.
Thanks
good one
Wow interesting 👍
I haul a lot of the Cat skidsteer's and I don't recall an H-pattern controls on the newer (next-gen) units. They're real jerky when you start them up in the cold and take a while to warm up; once they're warmed up the controls will smooth out. Also, the backup camera have lines on the display screen and sometimes they can be slightly out of alignment... which is to say don't rely solely on the camera to back up. Use your mirrors or better yet, just turn around in place if you need to go in a different direction. Backing up blindly is one of the most dangerous maneuvers you can do. 🙂
thanks for the comment

great video, what would you suggest as the operating rpm's for this model?
One thing that you miss on this video is the NOT SO intuitive backup control. With ISO controls it's important to remember that when you're backing up AND wanting to turn, the intuitive thing would be to steer the back of the loader in the direction that you want to go. BUT what you have to get your mind wrapped around to is that when you back up, you push left or right for which direction you want the front to go--even though you're backing up. It would have been wise to spend a little time on that. But otherwise great video.
That was the hard part for me to get used to as well, I tended to try to look over my shoulder and found that if I used the mirror or backup camera it was easier to get used to, it does seem backwards and takes a lot of getting used to.
Thank you, very helpful
Thanks a lot for your great videos! Could you maybe make a video about the basics of hydraulic systems, maybe a little bit how they work and what the common controls are across the different equipment? Things like the hydraulic release you mentioned, or the very basic idea of the throttle. Once you understand it it makes sense, but someone who is completely new might think it is the same thing as in a car where if you press the throttle, you go forward:)
Great suggestion! I'll see what we can do.
It's not _really_ as simple as the throttle/car relationship - that all depends on what gear you're in, or even if you're in gear at all.
The easiest way to describe it is this: Throttle, very simply, controls engine speed. Period. That's all it does - in a car, a boat, a piece of heavy equipment, even in an airplane. *Engine speed* determines how quickly "work" gets done - whether work is travel, or lifting, or manipulating a hydraulic attachment. If the engine is running at higher speed, *_anything_* driven by the engine can also be operated at a higher speed. Wheels/tracks, loaders, outriggers, cab swivels, dozer blades, forklift booms, *_anything_* attached and powered by the engine can move faster with higher throttle.
would you guys recommend this to clear some sage brush? or would I need something a bit bigger?
I just have some questions I'm interested in heavy equipment operator. 1. Did u have any knowledge or idea of what to do when u started? 2. How was it for you when u started as a beginner? 3. How or what helped you to memorize all the controls for all the machines? 4. Lastly, did you do any basic training and then later got a career with no experience and just learned and progressed to where you are now? Thanks for your time and help your videos are great.
Lots of good questions in there. Let me see if we can maybe do a video on this. Otherwise I would also recommend reaching out to a local operator to learn from them.
@@HeavyMetalLearning alrighty thanks for your help and time!
I know many guys who had no idea skid steers had seatbelts. "But it has the bar that comes down!" ...Which doesn't hold your upperbody at all.
Lol...yup, exactly! Most operators do act like that’s their seatbelt!
Is it easier to use the crawler type (as opposed to the one with wheels) when a backhoe attachment is being used on a skid steer and on a slope? or is it just as risky and hard? (I need to use the skid steer to excavate and on a slope that is 25 degrees in some area with some difficult pitch or curves. Thanks for the lesson
After taking the parking brake off do I need to take the hydraulic light off as well ??
Muy bueno
Thank you very much
I have a John Deere 328D 2012 foot pedal and the left side sticks when my foot moves forward and back word . Can you tell me what is wrong?
Thank you
Thank you so much, this information and tutorial is very very helful.
What RPM do you normally set the engine at on a 323D if you were going to move that dirt Pile..??
Super videos, you explai better than some structers, than you.
I wish I could afford a skid steer to add to my lawn business
Hi guys, can you tell me if you guys had a chance to run 333g with the smart grade option and what you think about? M
Hi , do you have training in Orlando Florida ?
You remind me of Sigourney Weaver in "Aliens"
I remember a skid steer loader with a control system where the stivks control the hydraulics directly. Anyone know what kind does that?
We’re you running in iso pattern or h pattern.
Your telling me I can basically operate a skid steer cuz this is basics
I'm going to BOCES NY for Heavy Equipment and my dream would to be to operate a excavator
Hey speaking of skid steers, is there any way to loosen the controls on a new Case SR150 or any hydraulic activated stick controls? They said it will loosen with age but it seems to have gotten stiffer! I have been using an excavator recently with electronic controls which really highlights the difference, but I don't remember putting that much effort into it. It has been unused for a few months until now. chrs
hmmm...not sure if I have the answer to that one. Newer machines usually have an electronic option to adjust the sensitivity of the controls, but not sure how to manually adjust on older units.
Can we use this tractor remove the top layer of earth (grass), we want to make a vegetable garden on the yard??
Totally
I’m wanting to buy my first skid steer. Trying to decide between cat 259D or bobcat t650. Any of you guys think what brand is better?
Tough call....I think they both make a good machine! To the maintenance point, agree that should be an important consideration and from my experience CAT usually is higher costs there.
Ok. Thank you guys!
Facebook has a skidsteers and attachments page. Its really for operators, but lurking there a while before you post will give you an idea of what machines are in use a lot. There also a skid steer forum on heavy equipment that more indepth than FB can get.
Ok. Thanks!
Any chance you add 4 in 1 buckets to these videos?
I'll see what we can do...thanks for the comment!
Whats the scroll wheel for on the right joystick?
THROTTEL --------- LOOK UP the model of machine you are wondering about YOU can see what the controls are for on line
is there a part 2 to this?
yes...coming
💙👍
Thanks!
Does the skid steer have a cigarette litter port thing
About a John Deere mini excavator ?
Closest thing to driving a tank
Seat belt?
The best-selling mini excavator in China is RIPPA.
Flynn brought me here. Lol

The quik tatch is not hydraulic, its an electric motor.
I just think all should have foot controls, to accelerate and brake, just like a car. Why change it up and complicate things.
Me who doesn’t put the seat belt on 😬
We are heavy machinery suppliers from China and can provide you with the best machinery and equipment as well as purchase options.Feel free to contact me if you need anything.
You broke your first rule!!! You had one hand and one foot!!! That’s only two points of contact!!!
Its all fun and games untill you get a guy trained on a newer machine trying to operate a clapped out relic with foot pedals that has no AC and no auto leveling
Preaches 3 points of contact, then immediately has just 2 when getting in
Wrong....the door...the handrail....the footsteps.
@brunowarner8521 00:49
Has right on top of bucket, has left foot in air, has right hand holding door, has left hand in aie reaching for other handle.
Just 2 points of contact
Vvvvvv
Zzzzzzzzzzzz
Where tf is the battery
You totally skipped how to switch the iso controls
