@alldolledupinstraps That's true but society in general needs to unlearn the whole "cartoons=kids" thing. There's hundreds of adult cartoons out there. One thing I will say is that there should always be an age rating of some sort on the spine or back of the book. On the back of a LOT of books there's an age thing saying "Age 14 and up" or whatever. People need to pay more attention to that and parents should have some idea of what their kids are reading. Publishers do need to up their age advisory game though. Make it more obvious for people who don't pay attention.
The Book Thief is such a good winter read, you need to read it soon! You might need to keep a tissue box close, because man, will that kiss make you cry
Great video, Ali!! I have The Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom as well. I haven't read them yet, but since you really liked them, I'm going to read them next month. Anyhoo, I hope that you're having a great day so far and enjoy your readings. Take care, sweetie ❤❤❤.
Gurll...I love six of crows so much and recommend it to everyone who wants some recommendations and seeing my one of the favourite booktubers read it made my day💖💖....love your videos alott
girliiieee I need ur answer so I’ve never read a fantasy book right and I’ve loved the premise of six of crows it felt unique so I bought it and this past week I have been trying to read it but I feel more confused I’m only like 16 pages in and I picked up another book and I don’t know if I should go back to it cuz I’m so interested plus I never read any Leigh Bardugo book so yh thank u in advance
@@ikramsdigitaldiary it can get pretty confusing at the start but it's so worth it, trust me!! it's one of my favourite books :) I'd say read until page 100 and then if you're still not enjoying it maybe it's just not for you
I am so glad you have the same mentality about thrillers/mysteries as I do: the end has to be satisfying. I always feel like I rate that genre so low because of that. But this is validating so thank you.
LOVE Six of Crows. The main reason why there's only five POV's in Six of Crows and yet there's six in Crooked Kingdom, is that in the beginning of the duology, Wylan is supposed to be an outsider. He's supposed to be someone for the reader to relate to in a way. He's the character who we don't get to see in the mind of at first and instead both we and him are being pulled into this world of mystery and criminality and at first being apalled by it, but slowly learning why these characters are the way they are. By the time we reach book two, Wylan has been caught up in this as well and so have we, therefore we learn more about him and we finally get to see inside his head. We get to bond with this guy who up until Crooked Kingdom starts has been a little overshadowed by the other crows. It's a masterclass in writing and making you fall in love with these characters. I will always treasure what these two books do and how wonderfully written they are. An absolute treasure in our bookish world.
I also think that, if his pov were to be included, it would spoil his secret and why he ran away. And if we knew why he ran away, we’d know his father was actually evil earlier. And then it wouldn’t be a plot twist when he screws them over.
Love the video, as always! For me, looking at ratings depends on why I’m reading a book. I usually look at them when I’m looking for what to read next and I’m slumping and then I only read it if it’s at least around 4 stars. But on the other hand if my purpose is to read a specific book, either it’s hyped on social media or like a classic, I will avoid all reviews and especially ratings, because both bad and good ones can put me off 😅. It’s complicated out here.
Nina my waffle queen 🙏💅 Super stoked you finally read six of crows!! Crooked Kingdom is defos my fave of the 2 tho! Very excited to hear what your thoughts on the Netflix series are!
The fact that the only 1⭐️ rating I’ve ever given is also for maybe someday makes me love you EVEN MORE because so many people love that book and I can’t understand why 🫣😩
LMAO I WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT THE BLANKET BEFORE SHE STARTED TALKING ABOUT IT 😭😭😭 I WAS LIKE TELLING MY SISTER HOW I LOVE HER BLANKET I EVEN TOOK A SCREENSHOT
Great vlog💕. I completely agree with about ratings and reviews. Reading is so subjective. How you felt about the first book that you read is how I felt about Just one damned thing for another by Jodi Taylor. I hated the narrator of that story and things kept happening out of nowhere so I gave it 1 star. I sometimes get disappointed with really popular books as well such as the Crowns of Nyaxia duology by Carissa Broadbent. I still enjoyed those books but definitely not as much as I thought I was going to because of the hype around them.
I love Six of Crows duology, especially Crooked Kindom! I really love the whole Grishaverse! If you want, you can also read King of Scars duology, which is back in Ravka after CK timeline & follows Nikolai (my fave), Zoya, and Nina. There's some royal court found family, and Rules of Wolves (book 2) has a fun cameo of the Crows. The banter in the series is awesome!
It’s actually pronounced like Keh-Beck. Glad you enjoyed your time in that province of Canada. I’m curious about Six of Crows and the whole Grisha-verse.
i filmed this video too last month!! i was shocked that six of crows was not the highest rated book on my physical tbr, but was pleased it was the nightingale by kristin hannah! so happy you enjoyed six of crows - i def need to pick it up finally!

After six of crows there is a duology about both the characters from six of crows and the shadow and bone series if you want to read that. They are called King of Scars and Rule of wolves in that order. They are great as well!
This was a fun video 😊 I don’t look at ratings before reading because then I also end up looking at the goodreads reviews and lately there’s just been too many spoilery quotes that people put at the beginning of the review :/ I would rather go into the book not knowing much but I do love hearing booktubers thoughts

I loved that her special edition of Six of Crows has illustrations because we should normalise illustrations in adult books
Meanwhile people are complaining about illustrated covers on adult romances...crazy😭
