Somedays google maps reroutes you onto what they think is the best route, which includes freeway, but if you change your maps to avoid highways, it'll throw you off too because they include highways some days. Basically, google maps is going to throw people off. We're going mainly by the written directions and not trusting google maps or the guy in front of us.
yeah when the maps ask you if you want to take the shorter route that it found you have to say no. But yes we use written directions and GPS both, see ya out there on the tour.
Google maps suck! My last power tour! Everyone wanted to take the fastest route and forgo the official route! The best part of power tour is cruising the backroads with Hot Rods! I can sit in a parking lot at home! Especially watching all the locals on the side of the road!
Waze is cool, plus it lets you know if there is a car on the side of the road, where the police are, potholes, other road hazards, construction or traffic slow downs, etc My wife said it kinda like playing a video game on the drive. You can also report those hazzards or say they no longer exist.
