Even her short lines have significance, her unique voice gives that trademark atmosphere to a song like what you hear in their old stuff. That's why if youre used to OT9, you'll find that OT8 sounds incomplete

Idk how to describe Jess voice, but her voice is angelic, yet powerful but so sweet... her voice is just unique... its give a sweet melody feeling... like a sweet candy... probaly thats why SM make her as main vocal. Her vocal have everything. Taeyeon is also good, but when her voice got paired with Jessica, its completed each other vocal and became the backbone of SNSD songs. Taengsic literally what SNSD sounds back then. Not try to shading other girls, all of them sounds super good... but Taengsic alone already make it so delicious.

I agree. Taengsic's vocals were superior (I don't mean it compared to the other members, but in general) and it's what sets snsd apart from other girl groups. They had 2 amazing and talented main vocals. Plus Sica's voice was what brought the uniqueness in snsd's songs

The members did a really good job covering Jessica’s lines, which showed the power of ot8’s vocals, especially Yoona and Sooyoung who mainly covered her lines. Jessica holds such a major part in SNSD and will never be able to be replaced but the girls deserve compliments for doing a great job at covering her lines

coz Jessica has an Angelic n unique voice so it's a little bit weird when hear Tiffany, Sooyoung, and the other member voice
Tbh the only member(s) that can actually give the same feels is Sunny and Taeyeon.
Seohyun is too heady and tends to struggles with Jessica high tone while Tiffany is too chesty and struggles with Jessica high tone.
Sooyoung does a good job but lacks dynamics
Yuri also can do a great job but kinda of airy or Husky.
Yoona is too soft needs power
Hyoyeon is too husky
But the best to cover Jessica would be
1st Sunny(She and Taeyeon are technically first but I feel like she needs to show off her skills and have more lines)
2nd. Taeyeon
3rd Seohyun/Tiffany both needs to relaxed.
4th Yuri/Sooyoung( Yuri needs to learn to be more confident and control her mix while Sooyoung needs to show more skills like Vibrato and transitions)
5th Yoona(Similar tone to Jessica but needs to be more powerful)
6th Hyoyeon(she and Yoona needs to work on their technique)
Taeyeon : powerfull voices
Jessica : soft voices
Tiffany : strong voices
Seohyun : young/fresh voices
Sunny : cutey voices and bossy voices
Actually, I find Jessica's voice sweet and soft but yet sooo powerful (Jessica and Taeyeon usually sing high notes with mixed voice, and for example, at the very high notes, Tiffany and Seohyun tends to sing with head voice. In terms of tecnique, it is harder to sing with mixed voice).

Everyone did great on Jessica! But there were some verse where lowkey only Jessica herself made it sound unique. Like Goodbye, Complete, The Boys… plus I never notice how important Jessica voice was until these videos came out. The fact that if you listened to their OT9 songs.. you notice how Jessica’s voice is constantly used in the background. Like there could be a song that she only has 2 or 3 lines… but the whole song you just constantly hear her voice in the backtrack / background of the music.

I’m crying I miss Jessica so much.I’ll support my girls forever no matter where they are.
Every strong vocal like Taeyeon needs Jessica with her sharp voice to balancing the melody. Jessica's voice is quite similar to Sunny, Sooyoung, and Yoona, but they're not really powerful enough to pull out ALL Jessica's part, that's why SM also split it to more stronger vocalist like Tiffany or Seohyun or even gave it to Taeyeon since it needs some power to delivering the melody.
Like the video already described, this is not about a comparison who's doing better, but this is just showing how much Jessica's role is actually strong to bring the balance for the group; and this is also showing how much another members can improving to pull an empty space for one of their main vocal member.
Also, sorry to bring another group, but I think this is also the same case like Jaejoong's/Junsu's powerful vocal and Changmin's sharp vocal; or Yuna's bold vocal and Choa's sharp vocal. Or in the 3rd gen group, also same "balanced" thing for Jihyo's bold vocal and Nayeon's sharp vocal; Jennie's strong vocal and Rosé's crisp and sharp vocal. You need these kind of combination to make the group more balanced.

Jessica doesn't just have a special timbre. She knows vibrato, high notes, inflections and background sounds. These are her weapons. They cannot be completely replaced.
It takes 3-4 members to cover Jessica's whole single part in every song especially on Paparazzi.

진짜 9명있는 그룹에서 한명빠졌는데 커버하기가 이렇게 힘드네.. 음색이 워낙 독특하고 기교와 가창력을 요구하는 파트가 많아서 음색 기교 성량 다되는 태연아니면 살리기가 진짜 어려운듯. 멤버들이 어떻게 커버는 하는데 킬링파트가 없어진 느낌ㅠ 아쉽다ㅠ

Taeyeon can't sing all Adlibs in the dance version and only Taeyeon can reach to the F#5 note but she has to do another long note after that
Because Jessica and Taeyeon sing the chorus and Jessica sings all the background vocals and backing melodies of other members. They can't play her voice in a backing track because it's copyrighted and they'd need to pay her even though her contract is over.

When they had their first official comeback without Jessica, I stopped listening to any of their new releases. Main vocalists (sometimes even rappers) are the ones who add that one important ingredient into a group which makes them recognizable. Even if Taeyeon is also SNSD's main vocalist, Jessica's voice is easy to figure out, which is what I really liked about SNSD back then. Imagine taking out Minah or Hyorin from their own groups. Girls' Day and SISTAR would've sounded nothing like they actually do.

I find Yuri and Sooyoung to be OK. But both struggle like Sooyoung trying to sing Beep Beep and Yuri being a bit too airy or husky.
Sooyoung also lacks dynamics like Vibrato and Transitions like in Not alone. Like her Vibrato is kinda forced and her Transitions isn't strong unlike Jessica chest coordination which changes to a light voice at the end. Sooyoung remains in her mixed voice and struggles to create Vibrato and extend the Note. Another example is diamond. Yuri is also good but struggles her accent is pretty obvious in Blue Jeans(The s sounds at the end). Her dynamics like Vibrato and Transitions aren't strong but present. Her mixed is very different from Jessica. Yuri used to be very chesty and powerful but changed to a very heady and closed mixed. (Now she become less Heady).
I miss 9 girls and i hope to see them together.

i finally realise that it was not Jessica always taking the killing part but she made her parts killing parts. When her parts are sung by the others, the parts seems not that attractive anymore...

You know who the fake sones are in the comments when they're hating and denigrating Jessica. The real ones know the magic of SNSD was always 9, the way the group was during its peak and literally most of their career and even the way SM and the group portrayed the group and what made them special. It was the harmony of 9 voices and as well as the strength and weakness of each member. The girls used to literally talk about this during interviews and variety shows. While SNSD is still good and doing well without Jessica, the missing piece is always there and this can be said if it were any other member removed from the group. OT8 sones are so fake and toxic, and most of them probably only became fans when Jessica was removed. They were not there since the beginning or since SNSD's hardships. They're just bitter fans who did not know SNSD during their best and who does not know the girls completely so they're jealous because they did not get to be there during the best parts of the group's journey.

The girls are really so talented. I really love the clarity and quality of Sooyoung and Sunny's voices (though sometimes the mic sounds muffled). They're the two girls who I often wish got more lines in their songs. But really, just so happy to hear them all together again. SNSD Forever 💗

Sadly, people often overlook how Tifanny, Sunny and Seohyun covered Jessica's part perfectly. (Particularly Seohyun) Tae, Jess, and Seohyun are all sopranos (They only differ with vocal texture) and I may have to add how Seohyun sounds like a mixture of Tae and Jessica, that makes her compatible of Jessica's parts. Plus, back then, Jessica, Seohyun and Tae had always been leading the choruses.
