I always say positions exist for a reason and it's normal for the main vocalists to get more lines than the others, especially in big groups. But hearing Sooyoung say that she received compliments on her performance for the first time when she started acting because in SNSD she was never considered a good singer or dancer kinda hurts to be honest. Her, Yuri and Hyoyeon were done REALLY dirty at times, not gonna lie.
@Lifted Sailboat i honestly saw a drastic change after jessica left, obviously with one of the main vocals missing the rest of the girls had to fill in for her. i don't think sooyoung was ever disregarded as a vocalist as much as other members were, but still, being considered just "average" when she's obviously a very good singer just because she's not part of the main vocal trio leaves me kinda bitter, no matter how much i do recognize taetiseo being the best vocalists of the group. but this might just be my biased opinion.

Loved her Sailing performance in Beaming Effect, her OST Wind Flower and her solo single Winter Breath. Her voice is so stable and she usually gets more lines than Yoona and Hyoyeon. I would say the truly underrated singer in SNSD is Hyoyeon, her "As Time Goes By" radio performance gets me everytime. If she were in another group, she'd shine so much more, but SM thinks her low pitched voice doesn't match SNSD's cute and sincere image so they try to cover up her voice in songs at all costs, not only by minimizing her lines but also overlapping her voice with other members. It's a shame, really.

Meanwhile everybody’s crazy about Hyo in Europe, I remember when they had their first concerts in Paris it was insane how the crowd cheered for her when she did her parts.

Some of Hyo's lines are compensated with her solo dances and her voice might not always fit their cutest concepts, but her having the least in I Got A Boy is just silly imo. Her screen time in many MV's are quite lacklustre too. So Tiffany, Jessica, and Sunny (! My bias) have never had the least lines in title tracks. This was a super cool video. It reminded me of songs I haven’t listened to in a long time. As far as I know, Hyo has the lowest amount in CMIYC both OT8 and OT8 version. If wrong, then in OT9, it should still be Seohyun since Hyoyeon didn't an additional line after Sic's departure.
