  • In this video, we take you to a remote island in the Philippines with a population of only 1000 people. These people have been living off the sea as fishermen for generations, with no access to modern amenities such as electricity or running water. We were amazed by their resilience and positive attitude towards life, despite their isolation from the outside world. Join us as we explore the beauty of this untouched island and the heartwarming community spirit of its people.

Seeing those circles filled with fish hooks just makes me think if someone stumbled and fell on it, how painful that would be. OUCH.
Mike you are so right about foreigners going to this beautiful island. They should stimulate the economy, spread the wealth. If they embrace us and show the Filipino love regardless of skin color that truly warms my heart and brings happy tears to my eyes because of things going on in the US right now. A place with no racism. They are a true example the rest of the world NEEDS to see.

To think many people from the west would see this island and say uncivilized or third world.... until experienced no one should judge 😊 I wish I could be happy. I'm glad there are places in the world like this where people may not have crazy technology but live simply and are happy- without IPhones and video games. I wish my nieces and nephews could have grown up the way of this island. They would appreciate what they have here in the states alot more.
That's why I love Mike and Bianca they are so down to earth, personable, empathetic and open to different ways of life.

Perhaps they might laugh 😂 when they come to know that being civilized in the west means being racist, shooting at children in the school, "strong and independent women" feminism, he she non binary , cooking weapons for other countries, these are just some, we are very far on that "civilized" society. Thank you but no thank you 😘

You notice the happiness despite the poverty, (by foreign standards) but I noticed as well, the determination to be something else like the boatman/lifeguard's daughter who plans to go to college and travel the world. I must commend Ma'am Rose for sacrificing comfort in the big island to stay with her community in the smaller island. They are more than just a fishing community, they are each other's family. Thank you Michael for featuring what's good as well as not so good about our island municipalities. It makes me feel proud of the resilience of these islanders and their sense of community. Notice how they also know how to recycle like those soda bottles and old bike tires into decorative borders for the garden? And that ukay-ukay corner is just remarkable! Philippines is a basketball-crazy country. I was surprised to see basketball courts in the tiny patches of flat terrain within a neighborhood. They sure know how to relax with a billiard game, too! That's island life for you! Continue with this island vlogs and you'd be endeared to the natives! I got hooked on your vlog the first time I watched this!

Too often you see these rankings of happiest countries in the world and the ones on top are always from developed countries. But when you talk to people from those countries, they’re not really as happy as those rankings make them out to be. On the other hand, you have people like those in this video who don’t have much and yet live truly happy lives and their happiness is intangible and immeasurable. Which do you prefer?

I was born there in the Philippines and i can remember alot about the lifestyle, even though i left at a very young age, especially the province. I will never forget the happiness and respect they would give one another for just about anything!
The only advise i would suggest is that your wife should try to be a bit more humble and maybe give a little more respect and appreciation of the different culture/lifestyle that she isnt used to. Its very disrespectful and rude. The locals will never stand up for themselves because they would rather treat their guest with 100% respect and show as much hospitality as they can and with the little that they may have. Its alot to them but its very little to none to the rest of the world. Its the thoughts that counts, right?
From the video it seems like shes acting as if she's better than the locals and deserves more than they can offer her. Just remember, they are doing the best they can to give 100% of their hospitality and making the tour as enjoyable as possible for you and the group. The locals know yall think very little of them but they are giving you all the benefit of the doubt. The vibe and the reaction i am seeing from the locals shows alot in this video. The locals are not animals and the place they are calling home is Not the zoo for the group of foreigners. If you yall are looking for a vacation spot, there are other places for that in the Philippines. If she isnt enjoying her time and believes she's better than anyone on the island Do Not visit such a place! so please be more respectful and accept the culture. They may not have much but its definitely a place the locals call "Home". To them it is happiness where the government isnt corrupting the people. Be more giving and be more respectful. Even if its a high 5 or a hug. That goes a very long way! Interact with the locals, get to know them, share life stories even though there is language barrier, just try! Help out do something that may surprise them that you are willing to do and go above and beyond. You never know you may learn something or get something out of it that you cant get anywhere else. The list can go on, you get the point.
I am sure not everything was shown on film of her interacting with the locals and treating them with respect. I am not saying she treated them like crap either. but the way she was carrying herself gave out "stuck up, i am too good for this place" vibe. I am sure the wife didnt mean no disrespect. The locals are watching her and the group and i think the locals were all intimidated by yalls present. You and your group are the guest of the island, you are all a celeb to the locals and are think highly of! I promise you that. How yall carry yourself and your demeanor will reflect on how the locals will greet you in places like these.
There are always someone in the world who is bigger and better than you. 👀

You are right! saFlip969. The first time I watched these couple’s vlog, I could feel their ignorance and lack of awareness of what different localities in the Philippines can offer them. The intention is not to showcase the place’s way of life but to show that they’re better than the rest. They wanted to feel glorified. Correct me if I am wrong, That’s how I feel! 🙁

When people are “poor” they only have God to rely on for their wellbeing which makes life uncomplicated and a sure way to happiness. In developed countries people have so many things to fall back on for their finances, health, fancy clothing, exotic vacations, etc. that they don’t need God. However, perishable things cannot provide eternal happiness.
