I used to do hjkx as a kid. But, back then, the filter was hard and easy to reverse. It was not glued down.

Yeah, I used to do this in my calculator back in the day, so I tried it here in my uv-5r and yeah it works!.. looks great too!, just my opinion.

So what does it do...allow more light thru? I see more backlight and the letters are white...interesting hack!

Having used the radio for several days, I can confidently state that the default LCD display configuration is significantly more user-friendly due to its gray background and black fonts. I suppose this is more of a visual enhancement than anything else. ;-)
