Thank you! I just completed my onboarding in Burbank. For those looking at the comments that have been struggling on trying to get in. Just be patient. It took me nearly a year 1/2 to finally receive an email back to receive a date to sign up. I know it could be tough but don't give up.
Loved this video! I have thin hair...but a beautiful face lol. Is the hair problem something that will be considered (not in my favor)? I'm afraid they'll not keep me because my hair is mildly thinning out. I use cosmetics to cover it up.
Hi! Thank you for this video. I was thinking about being a background extra in/around Los Angeles, CA. I was wondering when you join a background extra casting agency do they charge any type of fee?
Do you have to do the onboarding in person or can it be done remotely? My daughter is an aspiring actress and her agency recommended signing up with Central Casting for gigs, but the nearest office is near 4 hours drive away. Just trying to streamline the process.
Hey thanks for the video, Do you know if Central casting pay for your transportation such as driving and paying tolls, using up your gas to drive your car to set, Parking expenses. Do you know if Centralcasting cover those expenses for you? Or do we have to pay for that on our own. I’m located in NJ so I am going to the NY Office
No, you don't get vouchers for being background. There are only special reasons you would get a voucher if you were first hired as background, like if you got moved up to a speaking role or something like that.
You get a union voucher if the production doesn’t hire enough union background actors, or if one of them bails out the last minute. You will then be upgraded to a union background actor. If this happens 3 times you are SAG eligible. This can take some time, or it can be quick. It’s very random but if this is what you want to do then it’s worth it. It took Jenna Fischer (Pam from The Office) 3 years of background work to get her vouchers. Others it can be sooner. Again very random.

Im SAG through stunts, does that mean I have to apply for SAG for background? And do I just apply through central casting? Can I make this a full time job?
I’m not sure about the SAG rules but central casting would! I think it’s possible to make background acting a full time job but you’ll need to be really on top of it to get continuous work. May be worth looking at other options if you are already SAG.
For this one, it was $13.75/hour for 8 hours, with a meal penalty. Each show has its own pay for background and its own penalties so your pay will fluctuate depending on the situation.
Hey Armand, I can’t remember the exact company other actors were talking about but it’s a background acting managing agency near Central Casting. I never got too serious into background acting so I never looked into it. It might be worth asking Central Casting or doing a quick Google Search.
emoji himself central casting is just for background work and there are some companies that help manage background actors but this isn’t a direct way to get a normal agent. You can be a background actor for films with central casting but it’s not for casting the leads. You would have to audition and get an agent somewhere else for those opportunities.
No you’re not allowed to talk to the actors because they’re basically at work and should be focused. It’s not seen as professional for the background actors to be interacting with the actors. There are other rules across the board like no photography or filming of the set. No posting about the location or scenes you are filming. Basically everything is hush hush until the project is released.
Arizona Molnar It depends, I know I talked to the main actor of a show but I already knew the person before set. Also the person noticed me first soo. I would say you can talk to them if their not doing anything, if your kid they’ll be more willing to talk to you 😂. Because their bored most of the time because people don’t wanna disturb them since the rule person says not to. If you were sitting at the same table and they were doing nothing and you think you might have something in common then I think you should consider talking to them. But No, if you just walk up to them and start saying how big of a fan you are.
@@MyRoadtoHollywood thank you for responding and is Central Casting an agency? Like can I sign w/ another offer from an agency after joint Central Casting?

So since I'm 17 and I need to be with a guardian, when I sign up online to get a spot, do I have to get 2, 1 for me and 1 for my dad or just one?
That's a good question. I would think just 1 but idk. If I were you, I'd call them to make sure.

Central Casting does not. They charge the productions a fee for providing all the extras but they do not charge you!

I do the one in NYC and they never pick none of us
Can you recommend an agency that works with persons living outside the US. I live in Jamaica. I plan to make a list and contact them all.
Im from Pittsburgh is thare a casting call every day? For background?
Reputable places to find a background casting manager?
May I ask is central casting net 30 payment ??

In addition, do you have to be based in the US to use central casting? I'm based in the UK at the moment
I think Central Casting is US only
(Past tense of cast is cast, not casted.)
Do you need to a citizen?
How does one go about getting a manager? Thanks

Should you put your background roles on your CV when applying for a main role?

I stopped doing it after I got a full time job in post production a few years ago.

Can you actually make a full-time living as a background actor?
I feel like it could be really difficult but I met a few people on set that said they did it full time with the help of a manager.

Casted isn't a word. One is cast as an actor. Not casted. You probably say addicting instead of addictive too.
