  • In this video I go over a couple of plans to tackle a heavy invasion of invasive bush honeysuckle. This regiment could be applied to other invasive species bur always consult with your biologist or forester before taking steps such as these I am suggesting.
For Light or Medium Brush Management; Foilar applications would be simple.
For Heavy either mulching or cut stump and stump application is favorable. I would encourage a 2nd follow up of foilar herbicide application the next year especially if you're signing up for EQIP to get that in your contract. You will need it!
I do encourage a burn before foilar treatment. As an example I am cutting this honeysuckle now in the summer. By next spring it should be cured enough to light a fire to help burn the canopies and possibly any emerging honeysuckle. By late spring early summer, the 2nd follow up should start.
This takes multiple years until you don't nees the cost share anymore. Hopefully within a few years you're on a maintenance program.

You should buy one of these, saves your back from bending over and spraying each stump.

Japanese Honeysuckle. Invasive species ! It is horrid. It takes over everthing. Has no flower worth looking at. Has no fragrance of any sort. Nothing like the tradition honeysuckle that was in my neighborhood as a kid. Loved that fragrance in the evening.
