I have 2 boys and we try to raise them the way this song is written (though it’s hard due to the internet and such). It truly was a better time in life. So much more pure. The days we’re living in now are poisonous to the children. I’m thankful we live in the south and a lot of this song is still relevant nowadays. Kudos to Bucky for this song. I grew up in a firmly non-smoking environment where second hand smoke was absolutely hated for the pollution that it is. And in the year 1990 when I was 5 years old, I already very well knew that lead based paint was toxic, because that was a fact that was just as well known then as it is now. I don't think I know ANYONE who wasn't well aware of the toxic lead paint from the old days. If you didn't go out of your way to eat old paint chips, you were fine.
