Love these archive vids, always easy to say these events looked better in the past, but there certainly looks to be more novelties and less duplication here!

Thanks as always Dan. x There were just as many dupes, I just didn't bother with them! I hadn't realised at the time, but one of these shots has two meteorites, which WAS unusual!

I've always wanted to visit this funfair, apparently the largest in Europe, maybe one day.
It’s one of the largest in Europe, it actually looks so much better here in 2005 than in 2021, way too many copied rides these days where as from this footage there’s lots of unique rides you just don’t see anymore
Indeed! Although, there were always duplicate waltzers, and dodgems, and Miami's, and Tagadas, and hoppers, and freak-outs, and twisters. I noticed two meteorites here to, although that IS unusual! lol But yes, it's always the frustration with Guild fairs... because of the politics involved, plots are allocated to the same showmen, everyone wants to present their most profitable rides, hence the dupes. When in fact, each would do even better if they sublet their plots to other rides, which would lessen the dupes and increase the variety! Its a mad world, but let's hope they learn from the likes of non-affiliated events like Winter Wonderland, who have quite frankly peed all over the guild! LOL
Hi Michael. It's certainly "one of" the biggest in Europe! lol But it's not as big as Munich's Oktoberfest, and I also think Rheinkirmes in Dusseldorf is bigger! The Foire Du Trone in Paris is a very similar size. Here in the UK, Nottingham Goose Fair, Newcastle Town Moor (aka The Hoppings), and Hull ALL claim to be the biggest in Europe and the UK! Many smaller fairs also claim themselves "Europe's largest travelling theme park"!! LOL
But bigger isn't always better, London's Winter Wonderland is far better than all the other UK fairs IMO. In just over 10 years, it has already grown to a similar size to the aforementioned, attracts far more people, which brings in Europe's biggest and best rides!

Loved this year, everything from the rides to the old lights, Equinox, Eclipse, Scream, Ali Baba and even Frissbee some of the great rides no longer seen in Hull
"Old lights"!!! Yep, this is before LEDs and RGB!! Loads of bulbs and caps missing on everything! And now I feel very old to, thanks fort that!! ;-) lol

Yeah, I thought it'd be interesting to see how it's changed over 15 years, while the 2021 fair is fresh in our memories! lol As far as I remember, it's the only UK fair Scream came over for. I'm most disappointed we lost the KMG Tango's, Speed Flip was everywhere, so I never rode it... now it's gone & I don't have the chance, lesson learned! lol

2005 was slightly before my time, but I was glad I was able to eventually ride Tri-Star, Speed Flip, Tango, Over The Top and the Drop Towers. All gone now. Experience/Superspin was a crazy one, not the most comfortable to ride but I was still glad I went on it. I can't say the same about that Contact/Eclipse though, because I was given the most sanitised cycle when I went on it!!
what happened to the old 'frisbee' ride? could've sworn I'd seen it in Ireland a few times when I was a kid
i think it's unfair that the rest of europe has great rides we don't
why were rides like speed flip and equinox exported to other countries?
Silcock had to sell speed flip due to being divorced! I’m not sure about equinox as it’s in America
